That pinch harmonic in the end of the first solo is apparently a difficult one to get right, since neither Richie or AJ Mills from KK's Priest seem to be able do it like Glenn.
Was in the back as well. Kept myself from jumping out of my seat all night to not get kicked out. Wish it wasn't an all seated venue but still what a performance!
He always starts tours rough for the past several years. Throughout the show, the sound seems all wrong in the mix, honestly. At times it seems like Halford can't hear where his pitch needs to sit to be in key. All footage I've seen points to one thing - this is a particularly tough show. He's hitting highs here and there but he's struggling with keeping pitches on standard range areas due to breath or something. Unclear totally to me what the precise issue is. The clips I've seen - the show feels more unrehearsed than other recent shows going all the way back to Epitaph. Only other time I've heard him sound like this is when he was starting to get sick before and they had to cancel a bunch of shows lol, so lets hope he recovers fast and this was just a warm up show type deal.
Should be recognised that not many OAP's are doing heavy metal vocals for a living. That being said, this is what Rob is now gonna sound like live. I would be more concerned with the overall sound mix having the bass crushing the guitars. 🎸🎸
Rob did an amazing job that night. Believe it or not the mix was much worse at the start, the videos sound much better. Guitars drowned out all the vocals in Panic Attack before the sound guys got a handle on it... Still an amazing performance by Rob and co...
Is this like a crappy Amphitheater? Sounds like the old man crying on the cliff. Maybe they should play Epitaph /Island of Domination for the symbolism.
You do understand that it's the first night of the tour? And that he's 73? Also, Listen to the actual recordings (on YT) from Japan in 1977/78 and he sounds terrible because he had a bad cold. It can happen anytime!
You do understand that the audio on this video is pure shit right? Secondly this is a song they made over 45 years ago...if you expect it to be sang by Halford the way he sang it at the age of 28 you're delusional.....all senior live bands that are touring the country are doing the absolute best that they can do....the great thing is you know they're actually playing their instruments and Rob is singing...unlike many bands like Kiss and others that are using backing tracks 100%
yea I get it.. i guess ya never know when it's gonna sound AWESOME ..I think after all these years it would be automatic to sound good because of repetition..
I urge any musical group today to go as LIVE as Priest does here. Fact is they can’t do it without vocal or electronic assistance. Rob is out there alone…no help. It’s priceless!!
probably the best Priest tune!
Thanks for sharing!! 🤘

Glenn is retired and it neither adds or takes anything away from the song as a whole...so it doesn't matter at all.
👏👏👏
This should be the setlist for the entire european tour, right?
Was up the the back and Jp still melted my soul 🤘

Poor Rob's voice is sounding weak

Sounds fine. It's a crappy TH-cam recording.

@@wandcfirst urgh, don't kiss his butt and apologise for his poor performance. It's pathetic.
