Have you heard of the terms, long cons? And short cons? There’s the difference between her and Mika.
Neither of them knew that Mike was a scammer (nobody does in these situations), but Mika was more sensible and cautious than Nancy so it was taking Mike longer to get anything from her.
While Nancy was completely blinded and ruled by her own one sided beliefs which made her more gullible and susceptible to Mikes “Fools Gold,” false charms making it easier for the bastard to rob her blind and disappear before she learned the truth about him.
So it was her fault she got scammed.
