I'm 70. Growing up in the fifties, I remember learning about Sadie Hawkin's Day. Back then, only men were expected to pursue women. In 1960 though, "the pill" became available. In my teens in the 1960's my experience was that EVERY day became Sadie Hawkins day because the girls I knew pursued me. Unfortunately, that took all the fun out of the game for me because I wanted to be the one doing the pursuing. That is what I think about when I think of Sadie Hawkins Day.

Sadie Hawkins has evolved into a girl asks the boy out to a dance type thing. It's never been the historical type of spinster asking boys out. You could say it's like a box social affair.
