    I decided to finally get off sugar a few years ago. The first three days were really tough. In the summer I would wake up with headaches which I thought were caused by allergies. When I got off sugar the headaches went away. Lack of pain was a great motivator for me. Now when I look at a frosted donut or cake my brain makes a connection and reminds me" there is a headache waiting for me" and I am not even tempted. I occasionally have a piece of bittersweet chocolate or a graham cracker but am usually disappointed when someone offers me something sweet when eating out. I drink a lot of teas, mostly herbal or decaf in the afternoons. I find if I am wanting something sweet I am satisfied by having a vanilla or spice tea with a spoonful of plain milk. If you can get through the first few days it gets easier.

      Same here. It is important to cut down the sugar I have been taking because having too much sugar is bad for our bodies. We tend to enjoy the sweetness, but we still have to watch out for the sugar intake because there are many things will impact our health. This video is very informative and inspirational. It helps me to watch out for my sugar intake!

    You r sooo right!! Get it out of house! I actually threw away Christmas candy just last week! It was literally calling to me! And once you detox it’s much easier totally eliminate sugar than try to eat moderately. It’s an all or nothing just like any addiction!!

    Sugar is really easy to get addicted due to big companies that market sugar filled food to kids at a yound age which eventually turns into a long term addiction, this video really shows insight on the matter which i have not seen before.

    Thank you for your very informative video. I forwarded it to my spouse. I normally do not eat any added sugar, not even maple syrup or honey. If I need to add a bit of sweetness to food I will use dates. Today I made chocolate chia pudding using dates. Dates are a whole food and are so sweet, a small amount of whatever it is in is enough. I have a small amount of the pudding and it does the job. I used to make banana nice cream too using frozen bananas, cocoa powder and a little plant based milk (if necessary) and vanilla extract. Instead of eating items with cane sugar, with a good blender you can make these incredibly delicious and healthy desserts with whole foods like dates and bananas.

    When the pandemic began, I was a housewife who normally was pretty healthy and worked out a lot. I got lazy, gained 35 lbs and ended up with pre-diabetes. When I looked back on my life habits, I had been drinking a lot of Coke and other very sugary soft drinks, hard ciders, eating a lot of candy and other processed sweets. Now I'm trying desperately to stop these sugar cravings and doing pretty well.
    A problem I have is my husband and teenage daughter like their sweets. I can't throw out what is theirs so it's in the house, not that what they like is something I particularly like. But, it's still there. I have them "hide" it out of sight and put apples and such where I can easily get to them.
    I have to say brushing your teeth after dinner is powerful. My issue is that after eating supper, my mouth wants something sweet to counteract the good food. Brushing my teeth cancels that "craving".

    What about stevia monk fruit allulose etc? I don’t eat sugar but in my weight loss 80pounds journey I feel like I still have a sweet tooth. I’ve tried reducing the amount I use in my coffee for instance. What is you thoughts on all the non sugar sweetness. I don’t use Sucralose and the other dangerous sweeteners for health reasons.

    • @FitMotherProject
      @FitMotherProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Colleen, thanks for writing in and great question. We are a fan of the natural sweeteners you mentioned and they are appropriate swaps for the harmful artificial sweeteners you alluded to. However, if wanting to beat cravings, using any type of sweetener only masks the issue, rather than solving it all together. And the only way to beat the sweet tooth is by refraining or at least slowly weening off most sweet tastes, artificial or not. Check out this video breaking down the artificial sweeteners for more info==>th-cam.com/video/x1TbGMHZtV0/w-d-xo.html

    I have 2tsp of honey a day is that bad? Also I use coconut sugar wondering how these rate as sugars? If they will hurt you like sugar does. Thankyou : )

    • @FitMotherProject
      @FitMotherProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Peach, thanks for writing in and great question! While both honey and coconut sugar are "better" in terms of coming from natural sources, they are both alternative forms of sugar. And the detriment of sugar on our health is still present. While some forms, such as coconut sugar, do come with additional benefits, the amount you'd have to eat to reap them are far outweighed by the negatives that come with too much sugar. So if trying to break through this reliance on sugar, it's better to refrain than to "bandaid" the issue by masking the dependency.

    Have you heard of Joan Ifland? She offers support groups from FB. Good information here also. Sometimes we need more help with this. Cleaning up the media and the drive thrus too. It’s horrible out there.

    Thank you! I’ve tried a number of times to kick chocolate; your video and it’s simple message has made me ‘check-in’ to my personal detox. I’m 53, started my fitness programme in Jan and am doing well. I’ve not had beer/alcohol for 90 days but always turn to chocolate - a time for a change. I’ve got 6 kids, the youngest being one year. Time to add a healthier diet to my now established exercise routine; my resistance bands arrive today following your associated video. Again many thanks 😊

      Hey Karen, thanks for writing in and great question! Stevia is one of the few natural sweeteners that we do support. You can find a good breakdown from Dr. A here==>th-cam.com/video/x1TbGMHZtV0/w-d-xo.html

    I used to get shamed for eating a lot of sweets from my family, so I hid food and ate away from anyone (it was comfort food for my depression, but they just thought I was weird). Hiding tubs of chocolate icing in my laundry basket and overeating sweets in the basement, not my finest moments
