YOU DON'T LOOK AT UR FRIENDS LIKE THAT TOWNES!!!! I'm really disappointed they wasted their potential ;( , so much chemistry for a friendship, maybe it's better this way... still have no idea why so many people ship her with benny, i can't really see the same energy as her and townes.

Have you ever hung out with a friend and at one point they do something, maybe they laugh, and that makes you realize “wow, I can see why someone would fall for you”? I think that’s what Townes is trying to describe. When Townes tells Beth he was confused, I think he means he also felt a very strong connection with Beth. He tells her that she “really is something,” which I interpreted as “you are a phenomenal woman and I can see why someone would fall for you.” That connection to her meant love. But ultimately he’s a gay man and he wanted them to be friends.

That the man in his room was his lover was heavily implied... but also still with a slight room for interpretation.
The same goes for Beths night with Cleo and the question if they ended up in bed with each other after all that flirting... but in that case it was a very logic decision not to show it since Beth most likely has no memory of what happened because of the alcohol and drugs she consumed that night...

Well in the end it is all about someone's spirit right? I don't think it's impossible for a gay person to fall in love with the opposite gender or for a straight person to fall in love with the same gender. I know there is the label bisexual for that, but it's all just labels. Spirit and connection is what really matters I think. Saying this as a so far labeled straight person, haven't fallen in love with a woman yet.

I really felt Beth feelings for Townes in this series. When you’re a shy, introvert and reserved person and you feel like nobody around you understands and appreciates you, finding a kind , warm, confident and loving person like Townes feels incredibly amazing. You feel you are at home for the first time in your life. And you easily fall in love with that person.

@@erica-.2775 well... i think that creators of the series did the right thing ended the show not on Beth's realationships with somebody. All her lovers came together as a team to help her, she is clean and sober and she wins. That's the perfect ending. So we can imagine any future for Beth - with Townes, with Benny or (if somebody really loves it) with Harry.

I loved this, but mostly because it showed how there are more categories of relationships that platonically and romantic. When he said he was confused, I think he was explaining that he could easily fall in love with her, and see how someone could do that. But I think with Benny and Beth that they were equals and balances each other out, which in the end makes a far better romantic relationship. So while I love Beth and Townes friendship, I think she was meant for Benny in the end.
