Glad it brought back memories. I love that time frame in trucking. Those guys worked allot harder than the modern day trucker though. Sorry for your loss
very cool. that was an easy start. Love the dash, should look great cleaned up and painted. that dump bed should look good in a subtle red oxide primer.
That's cool man, A model 4070s are becoming hen's teeth! If you need parts i might be able to hook you up with a Friend in NC! he's sliming down his huge collection of cabovers. I can't imagine fiding a CO-4000! (one of the very first) made in 1965 - 1968? I may be getting a 1981 GMC Astro with an 8v71. Not sure yet! Almost looks like it originally was a Road Tractor and not a dumper. Love the interior... better than the Transtar model II.
That’s good to know. There is a junkyard near me with two completish trucks. I’m pretty sure it was a road tractor to have a ac cab in 68 and just some other things I noticed. Thanks for watching.
@@cabovergary Gotcha yes i seen in another comment you mentioned A/C that would've been a VERY Expensive option i bet. More than likely a Owner-Operators truck. Most Comapnies would have had bare-bones. My guess.
Damn man, you struck gold on that. Engine started, went into gear and moved.. wow lol. Are you a member of the American Truck Historical Society?.. If not, you should be
I like that ideal but there is a issues, -non turbo 250 Cummins -5 speed with 3 speed rear axle(really hard to find parts/Probally tops at 60mph) So to do that would be really expensive or allot of work. Thought about frame swapping it but think it’s one to keep together with cost vrs keeping old stuff alive.
Those front steer tires were the popular back in the early 80’s. They were michelin. What is it called again? . It has the name of the tire on the side. “Michelin one”. Or something like that. If you see it on the side wall can you let me know? Before the Michelin tires was the Firestone brand steer tires.
I will come back and answe that question. The truck is at friends house still. I been too busy with work to go grab it. Hopefully end of this week I’ll be able to. Thanks
It looks like a good deal I mean it runs but it sounds like you're missing check that rack and I was lifters and ejectors make sure they're operating properly
This truck reminds me of the one my dad had back in 70s he was a truck driving mechanic God rest his soul

That’s the plans. To make it a functional truck. It has some hurtles that I’ll discuss in next video. Thanks for watching

Thanks! Feel pretty lucky on this truck. I am not, guess I should look into that. Thanks for watchjng
Neil cleaning inside the cab outside cabin everywhere before I would take that thing on a road a lot of work
Yea, to get it to a money maker truck it will take a ton of work. Thanks for watching.
You should pull the dump bed off and find you a step deck and use that to pull your wedge trailer

Far better result than I expected. Looks like you've landed on your feet with this one. Does your friend's Transtar II run yet?
