Really love the style and approach you put into combining the versions. Nearly flawless aside from the minor tiny issues that have already been discussed. But I really love this remastered remix. It belongs on the OST with the rest of the songs.
@wilky1189 Yeah, I loved merloon's method of combining and interweaving the two (as he mentioned in his comment earlier). It's what I've always wanted to hear from a duet mix like this, unlike other versions, which they just crammed the two together, which doesn't really work considering there's different tones, slightly different guitar solos, and different pacings. Plus, combining two loud sounds just makes it louder and more distorted, which is disgusting to listen to.
I can only laugh at that... "only" 20k views. This is nearly 10 times as many as my original upload upon which this was based (I'm the one who got remastered). I've accepted my fate, my composition has run away from home and decided to live here instead, but I still miss it. And I do pop in here occasionally, if for no other reason than to keep it known that the arrangement here is mine, not Xyless's, who just replicated it (excellently, I might add) with slightly better tools. To be honest, it kind of irks me a bit to see him get all the kudos, while I thrive in obscurity... this was my baby, and I'm proud of it. Give mine a listen if you get the chance, I need the hits.

There is only one other video on TH-cam that combines the tracks like this, and that's mine. Xyless will tell you himself that it was my video that was the basis for this track; there are dozens of ways to interleave the tracks, but my arrangement was replicated perfectly by Xyless a year after mine was uploaded. I can only conclude that you didn't bother listening to mine before denying my claim.
Algorithms & selective choices that didn't mutually benefit yt restrict many true artist from being heard. ...dig deep enough & you'll find gold and more. 😉

DarkStar Wizard There was no actual collaboration involved; Xyless found my video a year after I uploaded it, liked what he heard, and decided to enhance it a bit. His replication of the arrangement was perfect, but he did it all from scratch.

@merloon I know how to go about doing so, the issue is getting access to the software long enough to do it. The chorus itself is good, except I need to get a cleaner cut of Conte from his version. I was somewhat lazy with getting Conte's voice and putting it in properly, due to constraints with Audacity. Once I get back in touch with Logic Pro, I'm going to be doing some hardcore EQ work, I'm sure I can get Conte's organ sounding very close to hers.
The only fix I can imagine working would be to fiddle with the audio levels and intensities of the two tracks to get them sounding almost identical instrumentally, using whatever audio tools are available, and then seamlessly remixing the arrangement from the two doctored tracks. It sounds like you're better equipped to tackle this approach than I am, so I'll leave the idea in your hands. Less is more. (While you're at it, write a backstory for these two lonely people trying to find answers.)
Xyless did his own thing replicating my original; I think he mentions the tools he used in his comments. My original was made quite simply just by tossing the two tracks together in iMovie, adjusting the timing by couple of milliseconds to sync them up better, then adjusting the volume on each track to alternately give each singer the mike. No cuts whatsoever were used, just volume manipulation. How'd I do?
I was actually considering mixing it myself for a dance I'm choreographing this summer, so if you did, I'd be very interested in hearing what you come up with :)
the popping sound may come from the record dust in the grooves, or it may have been placed there as an effect to make it sound like it was a record, bebop isnt so new so that may explain a few things, so whatever the artists intended for the tune at that time you changed which is cool but your rendition of the track has made it flat compared to other copy's i have heard. make it sound good in a master mix and then you may have my cudos.
fourfourjunkie No vinyl was involved anywhere in the genesis of this track, so dust in the grooves is right out. The original Conte & Yamane tracks were both taken from the OST CDs. Was my original upload one of the tracks you were comparing this to? It's the only other example I'm aware of that has the interleaved arrangement.
