At least we got Josh Keaton and Christopher Daniel Barnes back. Those two are still some of the best Spider-Man voices and deserve Spider-Verse cameos ASAP!
The Spectacular Spider-Man and Spider-Man 90s, the duo we didn't deserve but needed. Truly the best way regardless of setbacks to the end of an important era of Spider-Man.

This is a super weird example of a comic book game that's made worse by it being a video game. If it was an animated movie or a comic miniseries or something it'd have slapped hard but because you have to PLAY it, it's just fine.
I watched a no-commentary run and had a pretty good time. But I wasn’t the one playing it, so
Comic writers have consulted on games or written the scenarios before (Dan Slott on Insomniac-Man, Kurt Busiek on LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2) but I can't think of a time where a comic writer was put in the lead like Peter David here, and it really pays off.
David is one of the funniest writers alive, and as a huge comic fan I've never understood why the writers who created all this material in the first place aren't the first ones they come to for games and movies.
I believe they got one of the comic writers for gaurdians to write the story for the gaurdians of the galaxy videogame as well
There can be multiple factors that could contribute to that.
One of the great things about that is that Peter David got to execute one of his original plans for the comic (Alchemax CEO's true identity) that he planted since Issue 6. but was changed by other writers into something else. He also got that chance with the newer 2099 run and Goblin 2099's true identity.
Activision were true supervillains for forcing Beenox to pump out Spider-Man games in such small timeframes. It's some miracle this got as far as being a playable game but could have been much more.
Just in related thoughts of Christopher Daniel Barnes, part of me hopes that the whole X-Men '97 thing is successful so we'd get a direct continuation of the 90s Spider-Man series and bringing back the living cast members including Barnes too.
Watching this made me remember that they put in a costumeless Peter skin, with like the mouth moving and everything. Kinda sucks that more superhero games are afraid to do that. I get that it’d “break immersion” to run around without your mask on, but when i’m on my 4th or 5th playthrough I’m already playing the entirety of Marvel’s Spider-Man in the underwear skin, and attempting to break the game 6 ways to Sunday while troll spinning in every non-cinematic cutscene. I think Immersion is already lost.
I've said all I can say about this game in the past, but I get over how solid the casting and plot is.
The previous one was solid but like, Laura Vanderoort and Katee Sackhoff were MJ and Black Cat in this... And Val Kilmer! I guess that's where all the budget went.
I often wonder how much better the game could have been if they hadn't blown so much money into hiring big Hollywood actors for such minor roles.
The environments in this game is what really made it dull. Nothing but grey building interiors.

I really liked Edge of Time I wish they could’ve kept going with their spiderverse instead of being forced to make movie tie-ins. I would loved to have seen them make a Batman Arkham style game with Spider-Man Noir
Treating Edge of Time as a spinoff makes sense. And with that, we still deserve a proper Shattered Dimensions sequel with a new lineup of Spidermen: India, Toei, Amazing (but the Iron Suit), and maybe Ultimate (but Miles Morales). Those are just suggestions though.
Really wish the 2099 suit had those light effects in the Marvel Spider-man 2018 game.

I really enjoyed Edge of Time, a great story, the combat being Super Slick, honestly Beenox deserved more time on their Spider titles, they had a lot of potential on the Web Head. Edit, Activision planned to port the HD era Spider-Man games? Woah that is a lot to take in, man what I would give to put these games in more hands...

I remember liking the story, but I didn't play it myself. I just watched some of my favorite let's players go through it. I love that two of my favorite Spidey voice actors got to play the role again and with each other.
Considering that Peter David was created Spider-man 2099 and wrote "The Death of Jean Dewolff", it was no wonder why both versions of Spiderman were on point with their dialogue. Peter David doesn't get as much love as he should, the man wrote some fantastic stories for Spider-man.
I still can't believe they ported this game wholesale into the 3DS..

Same I was shocked, it's the Wii version so of course it doesn't have the graphics of the Xbox 360 or PS3 version but still none the less impressive. I remember playing this game alot back when it came out and while it's very mediocre I had a blast and thought it was enough.
Spider-Man: Edge of Time was and is truly timeless. Glad to see some people are finally beginning to understand that.
I get how the gameplay can be a bit repetitive but I freaking love both the story and voice acting in this game. Especially between the Spider-Men.
I had a pretty limited supply of games as a kid, but one of the few games I had was this game, and my god did I love it! It has affected me in more ways than any other game for reasons that I can't really explain. The escapism and immersion I felt in this game was insane and I remember how scared I was of Anti-Venom! Thank you for taking me a trip down memory lane Matt!
I remember having played Shattered Dimensions and having a blast, besides some gameplay. I then remember this coming out and starting it but getting bored halfway through. The environments were just so sterile and boring with less freedom and it all takes place on one building. I remember stopping and picking up Arkham Asylum, which blew me away and it made it very difficult to come back to this game.
I eventually did and beat it. It did have an interesting late game twist I didn't see coming but overall I felt it was too little too late. I do lover to hear Christopher Daniel Barnes, as he's the ideal Spidey voice for me as he played Peter Parker/Spider-man in the animated series I grew up with. It's like Kevin Conroy is the Batman voice. Overall a very meh game with some interesting ideas but poor execution. Didn't know it was that rushed but it makes sense after playing it.
The 7th generation was full of lost potential. Prototype 2, Edge of Time, Sonic Unleashed, TASM2, Transformers Cybertron, all games and series that could've been great.

Sony spiderman:

- stupid minigames
- idiotic story
- million collectebles
- ubisoft openworld
- great feel when you flying on web
Shattered dimensions:
- just a videogame where you beat some faces
- spiderman 2099 is edgy.
Edge of Time is actually my personal 2nd favorite Spider-man game, my favorite being Spider-man 2000 on the PS1. But Edge of Time is also the only Spider-man game that I was able to 100%.
The Nintendo DS version of Edge Of Time is actually really fun, it's a full on metroidvania with two realities to explore. While it's not quite amazing, I still enjoyed it overall.

Shattered Dimensions holds a special place in my heart, so when I heard this was a sort-of-sequel to it I got so excited.
Perhaps I set myself up for it, but I was really disappointed with Edge of Time. It never really gets the time to let me feel like I'm Spider-Man. It feels generic in design with the exception of its story. That story is the only true reason I played it to the end. If it wasn't interesting, I'd have given up on it before the half way point.

By the way how the hell did beenox get Val Kilmer to play Milkman Sloan was he on the cheap or did they just got done watching batman forever and thought" He's a big name let's give him a call"?
I guess they made a big deal about Sloan to hide the game's REAL main villain.

Spider-Man edge of time is one of the best Spider-Man games ever made also with the big time and future foundation suits and you still unlock them today still
There is no need for the golden spiders for Insomniac's Spiderman in my opinion, because things like health, swing speed, more focus meter are all directly tied to your levels. Insomniac completely got rid of it cause they wanted to make most skill upgrades new skills and NOT simple stat upgrades.
Man, I remember when this game came out when I was 5 years old, me and my brother played and loved shattered dimensions on the Wii the previous year (although it wasn’t until like 3 years later when we beat it cause we got stuck on a lot of the levels). We got this one on ps3 and played up until after the hydroponic jungle where the disc stopped working so we had to trade it in which was a huge blow to the both of us but the time we had with the ps3 version was both fantastic and absolutely terrifying mainly because this game made me terrified of time limits in games for the longest time since me and him were young and weren’t great at games so we kept cracking under pressure (especially when you had to save Miguel from the robot and save Peter from the mutation experiments). We didn’t get farther until we got the 3ds version and we finally saw the game through the end and did so for years UNTIL we lost the cartridge years later which THEN 3 years ago we got the ps3 version again and now the game is under my very careful and protective eyeb

Bro, maybe I'm wrong but I don't remember buying any upgrade or anything at all while playing this game. I finished it at least 2 times when I was a kid and still no memories of buying anything.

The reason Spidey 2099 can free fall inside the building is beacuse the Alchemax building is as tall as mount everest, it show up during the credits.

I like the amazing suit in this game. It's got this uneven webbing, it's more realistic, more like a spiderweb. He's not got a degree in textiles so it would also make sense that's it's a bit uneven.
This Spider-Man is probably my favorite. I love Spider-Man ps1 and movie ones for psp but I mostly play it for that nostalgia feeling. I agree with you how the story makes it worth while because the big thing I remember was the dialogue and interactions between both characters. Great Stuff. Never played the shattered dimensions so don't have the point of reference but I will be sure to checkout your review/commentary on it. Don't know how your channel went under my radar but been binging your videos all week.

This game's story was absolutely fantastic. To the point where I think if this was a movie or short TV series it would have been better than being a game.
The gameplay is very mediocre and repetitive, but the time manipulation segments are kinda cool.
And the return of the horror monster from Spider-Man PS1 was the nightmare I never knew I wanted back. Absolutely fantastic.
The voice acting is absolutely superb, especially the villain from 2099.
Overall, the highlight of this game is the plot and presentation, but the gameplay itself is so meh.
Worth playing if you can do it easily, but it's not 2011 anymore and PS3s aren't as easy to find and support.
Definitely worth watching at least once though, one of the best Spider-Man stories of all time.
Never played Shattered Dimensions but I had Edge of Time on my 3DS and while it was repetitive I played the hell out of it

I bought this and Shattered Dimensions for PS3 for exorbitant prices recently. I haven't played this yet but I had a hell of a time with Shattered Dimensions
Shame the game was never ported to PC and also rushed out without enough time to make it a little more complete.
Josh Keaton's spider man from the Spectacular Spider Man animales show is one of My favorite tales on the character so it makes very happy seeing it again in a versión of the role

While I do agree on what Matt says about the 3DS version's graphics, I was surprised to discover the 3DS version is kinda it's own thing. I went in just for the novelty of seeing how this game got onto a handheld in this form... But holy crap, something that should have been obvious but I never thought of happened.
Went the time stuff begins to happen, you see Peter and Miguel on the same screen. The 3DS on the other hand has TWO screens. And suddenly I had the future scenes with Miguel running on the top screen while Peter was running around doing his thing on the bottom screen and becoming controllable down there. And this is all happening in completely different 3D environments on each screen plus the fact it will continue to display glasses free 3D with the slider up. The frame rate might be taking hits but damn they pulled off something impressive here on a system even less powerful than a Wii.
Here's what I want from a Spider-Man cartoon or game or whatever, a prequel/sequel Spider-Man, whether or not the story is canon, I will love to see, who and why, make the 2099 suit for Spider-Man, if there's a comic book of that, I've never seen it nor have I heard about it.

I think it would have been funny if they had Christopher Daniel Barnes voicing Amazing and Rino Romaro voicing 2099.

Shoutout to the 3Ds port for being just as good as the console version I don’t know how they did it but they managed to keep everything from the console and have it run at a stable 30fps and control well

I absolutely loved the gameplay in this game.
Only issue I ran into was: the copy I played had a scratch on it and glitched at the final boss fight, meaning I was unable to finish the game. (Last time I get a game from the library. Wait, the fusion of anti-Venom, doc oc, and Sloan wasn't the final boss? Son of a...)
I didn't know any of the plot for 2099 Spiderman so it was fun to experience.
Never played the shattered dimensions but it intrigues me enough to want to find and play it now.

I'll like to see more Spider-Man videos, but also videos on other obscure video games based on Marvel heroes. Like Blade 1 and 2 the game, the Iron Man game, or games based off the Fantastic Four.

Alongside Spider-Man on the PlayStation 1, Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions is one of my all time favorite Spider-Man games, and I really hope that in the future we'll get a proper Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions 2 or even get a remake of Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions.

Being a huge 2099 fan I really wanted to play the game, only for my local EB games not to have a Xbox360 copy, switching to PS4 meant not being able to play an previous gen copy and the game never got a PC port
I personally really enjoyed this game, mainly because the only version I played was the 3ds version, which I think was perfect for. Seriously, having basically the console version on the 3ds is absolutely amazing. Ashamed that the game isn't as good as it could have been, but for the 3ds, it was perfect.

At least the big versions Edge of Time looked and played like a half-ass game, because the DS version, boy oh boy, it's one of the worst spider-man games I ever played.
"Umm actually..." In theoretical physics concept concept of multi dimensions, time continuity don't have to be linear, so from Geeky expertise I say, that anyone question this particular thing should immediately lose his Geek License.
I will also, would love to see Spider-Man or some other marvel hero, take on one out of two things, o n e, take on a kaiju, it doesn't have to be Godzilla, just a kaiju, if not that, I'll fight tournament, I will love to see a tournament Arc for Spider-Man or some other marvel hero.
This and Shattered dimensions. I love them.
