- Η έρευνα και η μελέτη πάνω στη γενικότερη έννοια του όρου μουσική, και της σημασίας που είχε κατα την αρχαιότητα, μας παρακίνησε να ανακατασκευασουμε μερικά απο τα μουσικά όργανα που χρησιμοποιούνταν πριν απο 3.000-4.000 χρόνια, και να τα προσεγγίσουμε, οχι μόνο απο την οπτική της μουσικολογίας ή της οργανοποιειας, αλλα και της γενικότερης φιλοσοφίας που ανεπτυξαν οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες.
Σε αυτό το πρώτο μέρος της γνωριμίας με τα όργανα του εργαστηρίου μας, ο Γιώργος Νίκας, παρουσιάζει την Αρχαία Ελληνική Λύρα, τη Βάρβιτο, τον Αυλό του Πάνα και τον Έλυμο Αυλό.

The research and study of the term music, and the importance it had in antiquity, prompted us to reconstruct some of the musical instruments used 3,000-4,000 years ago and to approach them, not only because of a musicology or instrument-constructing interest, but also because of the drive to comprehend the philosophy which was developed by our ancestors and which, to a large extent, was expressed through music.
In this first part of our presentation we will show you some of the musical instruments that we make in our workshop. George Nikas will introduce you to the Ancient Greek Lyre, the Barbitos, the Pan Flute and the Elymos Aulos.
Our objective is not profit but one’s acquaintance with the Ancient Hellenic Culture.

Ευχαριστούμε πολύ για τα καλά σας λόγια. Προσπαθούμε τα όργαν`α μας μας έχουν και καλό ήχο αλλά να έχουν και αξία ως έργα τέχνης. Γι αυτό και δεν υπάρχει μαζική παραγωγή. Το κάθε ένα είναι μοναδικό.
Συγχαρητήρια! Το έργο σας θα έπρεπε να ενταχθεί στο εκπαιδευτικό μας σύστημα. Θα βοηθούσε να γνωρίσουν την ελληνική αρχαιότητα τα παιδιά με ένα τόσο ενδιαφέροντα τρόπο. Και πάλι συγχαρητήρια! Σας ευχαριστούμε!

A very interesting video thank you. I loved the double lyre that plays in two octaves and the pipes at the end. It looks like you should do circular breathing to play those!
Thank you very much!Circular breathing would make a continuous sound like the bagpipes. Of course, you can play with both techniques!
Salve, veramente molto interessante, però vorrei sapere se l'accordatura della lira viene fatta in modo definitivo al montaggio delle corde e quindi sono fisse, grazie.
I would really like to see the plectrum you use to play the lyre. It looks strange but it makes a good sound, especially with the harmonics.
You can see it at 0.16. The main body is wood and the tip from bone.
