So basically the message here is get as much surgical tubing as you can because you can make a slingshot out of anything

The structure does not instill any confidence in me. It shoots great alright but may send a lag bolt into your face!
One of a kind? Sure... Blow me away? Not really. Blow my knuckles away? Probably with every single shot... The old design needs a wrist guard, this would need a thick hand guard to protect your hand. Really thick too, this wouldn't sting like the old kind, this would break hand bones.
