    I always buy the cannonballs, wood, and fruit crates from the merchant and put them on my ship. It gives you a nice level boost and saves you time so you don't need to look the island before heading out. I found that it's much faster to harpoon your loot onto your ship rather than walking back and forth. Completing merchant voyages also gives you a nice level boost.

    • @Trunath
      @Trunath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yeah I just tried that yesterday after I saw a few of you guys commented about it. Buying those extra crates is a nice way to get an early emissary boost for sure!

      doing the commodoties, animals and cargo deliveries at once. doing three cargo deliveries in the Roar could be as profitable as 60K g extra, 3.5k/unit on max level

    personally as a merchant, after fetching a lost shipment to boost my grade, I usually go by the "loop route" aka. going in a big circle around the map (from golden sands to sanctuary to daggertooth etc.) simply because it cuts time.
    that said it´s not always the most efficient choice, either because :
    1- there are reapers around, which pose a risk to the trade routes if you stockpile your cargo
    2- there is a simple route between two or three outposts, which reduces risk by having you roam less, or
    3- i dont have to much time on me

      Lost shipment for grade 5 seems to be the play then you seem to just get 50k per surplus outpost

  • @davidmccann4495
    @davidmccann4495 3 ปีที่แล้ว +155

    Definitely go circular next time. Just collect all the surplus and eventually you'll run into an outpost on your route that is in need of something you have. No need to go the other side of the map every time

    • @Trunath
      @Trunath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      Oh for sure, there's definitely better ways to do it haha. Just wanted to see what the potential was for following the circuit exactly.

    • @bdenix1997
      @bdenix1997 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      we did that but, once we 've completed a whole turn, we got back at our starting outpost. the starting npc didn't sell us any commodities as it was on a cooldown, we got bored and logged off. we got around 150k gold from playing 2 hours and doing a whole turn of outposts.

    • @ExceedProduction
      @ExceedProduction 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@bdenix1997 The commodities respawn roughly every 2 hours. So if you're faster than that, you need to wait for respawn. We usually de-flag, do a shipwreck mission, then restart the route. Works out great.

    • @Jumbo58067
      @Jumbo58067 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bdenix1997 you can add a ton to your profits if you include sea forts into the circuit which increases total income and makes each trip take long enough to where you'll likely have went through the entire commodity cooldown by the time to arrive back at your starter outpost

    • @brazkin
      @brazkin ปีที่แล้ว

      The concept is pretty simple: buy crates at the first one/two outposts, fight some skeleton ships/complete forts/do other activities that boost your emissary flag level significantly, continue trading after you reach tier 3/4. Might actually level up all the way to tier 5. Rinse and repeat after you complete the circle. One more way is completing delivery voyages while sailing with purchased cargo. You won't get as much, as you would with tier 4/5 flag, but at least you'll get flag level points, so why not try, if it is close to your route? And, if I recall correctly, you can just cancel voyage without losing an ability to start it again, and just start another one (in case quest vendor will be too far away). Devil's roar deliveries are dope, btw, giving you 3.5k per item with maxed out emissary flag. 5 crates, delivered to a nearest isle = 17.5k of additional profit. Plus 35k for completing 2 emissary quests. Just try not to engage in ANY fights, while shipping rom - you are likely to regret it, especially if it's 50-70% of your quest cargo. It doesn't need to be hit directly to be damaged: one hit to your mast can be enough to damage rom crates, which are 3-7 meters away from it. And believe me, you don't want it to happen. Always hide silk under some cover (like captains quarters in the sloop, just make sure to place it right in the middle, near the map table, or it will be damaged by the water from the holes in the back of the ship). Seems like hits on the mast damage everything near it and on top of it, so hiding rom there wont be of much help. PROBABLY, you can leave rom crates near the silk in captains quarters in the sloop, and they will not be damaged, but I never tried. And don't forget to turn the lights off. You can also loot all barrels of plenty along the way, potentially getting some expensive fish for hunter's call rep and some coin, and also supplies to fill cannonball/wood/fruit crates (which cant be sold unless filled to the brim). Also you can find good Devil's roar cargo voyages among these barrels. Might also complete Order of Souls quests from the bottles, but they aren't really profitable, that is just for fun.

    What I do in a voyage like this, I pick lost cargo voyage to hit level 5 before selling. I also plan my route by nearest outposts. With yours week route, going Plunder (your spawn) >> Golden >> Sanctuary >> Dagger >> Galleon >> Morrow >> Ancient >> Plunder >> Golden >> Sanctuary, would've been most time efficient.
    Doing a circle is much faster than crossing entire map.
    According to planners CW circle whilst visiting Plunder, Golden and Sanctuary x2 times was 350m, when following a route by commodities was 450m. Which shaves like 20-25% off the journey.

    This may be a little late but using Merfolks Lullaby is only really effective if you are doing 1 or 2 runs at a time.
    It’s also much more risky because you are heading through the dead center of the map with many more opportunities to be spotted.
    I would recommend stealing Clifs idea of just going in a giant circle and hitting the fortresses along the way.

    personally, i think that the trade route was simply implemented to give merchant emissaries something relatively safe compared to escorting animals, rum bottles and gunpowder, simply because you´re supposed to deal with reapers if you fly an emmisary. also the fact that you cannot buy this cargo if you´re not an emissary

    Nicely done video. When I do these runs solo I use a brig. Faster in the water in most circumstances, and easier to run from others. I also tend to just go in a circle around the map. Ie golden>sanctuary >dagger etc. Thank you for the breakdown though.

    When they first dropped this update, there was an ultimate way to make lots of gold in short time. Could get 4 crates of each crate with a 4man galleon crew. About 20 crates per outpost allowing 4x20 crates, so each outpost we could buy 80+- crates for a very cheap price. At emissary level 5, they sold 10-19k a piece. Well that's a bucket of 800.000k easy per pirate per crew. Sadly within 3 days they changed it with a extra update.. and it was not possible anymore to use this method. I completely understand, cause I payed 340k and made 11million in 3 days of merchant commodity crate's pure merchant

    You guys should've seen the trade routes when they were first introduced. Gemstones were going for 11k at grade 5 I think. They were more expensive to buy and you could lose alot of gold if you got sunk early. You couldn't purchase as many crates but the gold you got was insane. I understand they had to nerf it. I do wish they would increase the value a bit though. Good video btw.

    Most efficient sailing time would be to make a simple loop of all the outposts. By the time you finish one complete loop you should start seeing some lag. When the lag starts getting too great, that's when you sell everything off and server hop, especially if purchasing becomes glitchy.

    I jumped a guy last night who was doing merchant stuff by shooting myself onto the island as he was unloading, hiding in the bushes, then ran out and murdered him and helped him sell all of his trade goods and then I disappeared into the sea.

    the maximum amount of base gold i could get from an item was 900 something gold(+ the emissary bonus). no matter what i bought and what i've sold, never reached 1300s. 25th of may, 2022. did they nerf it again?
    also, among all the items, theres 1 type that is not wanted by any of the outposts. i think that's because golden sands is closed. and it was supposed to be sought after golden sands. not a big deal, still could sell that to any outpost that its not a surplus.

    The reason you noticed a difference in your prices from 2 to 3 is because level one no longer gives you a bonus

    Buy wood, cannon balls and fruit. It takes you to level 2 before you leave the island. Also before you sell buy them again and take them to your ship.

    i did this yesterday. Leveled way slower and netted way less, only about 96K. It took me 5 runs + sinking one skellie sloop to hit lvl 5. Then i did one extra run too get maximum return before i quit. So this got nerfed somehow.

    Can each crewmate buy a crate or are they shared

    • @Trunath
      @Trunath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it's shared! So if I was playing with you, and you bought the crates at an outpost, then I wouldn't be able to buy them for us at that outpost too (at least not until the timer refreshes for them, which I think is around 2 real-world hours or 5 in-game days)

    • @Trunath
      @Trunath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's definitely better ways to start this kind of session off, like beginning with a Lost Shipment voyage to quickly bump your Emissary grade, so I would make sure you do something like that when you start your trade routes so you can do it from one outpost to another at the start. I can't say for certain since I was level 75 when I did this, so I'm not sure what kind of reputation gains you can make from it, but I'd imagine they're pretty good based on the gold you can make.

    • @Trunath
      @Trunath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually didn't run a single one of these until after I was 75, so I can't say for certain haha. I'd imagine the algorithm that determines how much rep you gain for each item is somehow related to the amount of money it's worth, so I could see these being worth it as long as you're keeping a good pace. You'd just miss out potential commendations from not doing the other Merchant voyages is all.
