The more I find of my ancestors and what they endured (80yrs war for example) the more amazed, beholden, and above all grateful and appreciative for what they accomplished. Twice plagues wiped out all but one in the family, who was my ancestor. Incredible, precious human life.
He wasn’t an “American” in 1765. He was a colonial English subject who moved to another area of English colony. The conflict that differentiated “America” from “Canada” wouldn’t start for nearly a decade, though the seeds were there.
I heard somewhere that the amount of intelligence, skill and focus required for our hunter-gatherer ancestors to scrape a meal together each day was equivalent to that required for an air traffic controller to do his job. Life was high stakes and high stress in the ages before ours
After the American Revolutionary War, in 1783, at least 30,000 Loyalists who fought for the British King, fled to Nova Scotia where they were promised land. There was a mad scramble to survey the land. 2,000 or more runaway slaves who fought for the British also fled to Nova Scotia.
I could watch all day! Now on you tube I'm watching American series I don't know them but interesting just the same... I just wish they were full programmes.. TV channels should do more.. Take some silly reality series off replace with these 😁

That's so amazing!
My ancestors were among the first French families in Nova Scotia and were part of the Expulsion. Many returned to Nova Scotia.

Love these programmes. 👍💖
Also the natives were only "hostile" because they were being murdered and their land stolen. Pretty sure that would make anyone angry.
Many natives traded their land.
😂 right.... all depends on which side is telling the history
Yup. This section was quite creepy for me. The words used just seemed to gloss over the horrors. (Just my 2-cents.)
One of my ancestors was in the garrison. Born in Scotland he was with the New England colonial troops. He is buried at Ft Louisburg

They glossed over the removal of the French people. Are these people ones who ended up in New Orleans?
Some went to New Orleans. My family settled in Massachusetts.
Acadians, some of whom are now Cajuns
"things were crowded there ..." No, they weren’t.
