I own a PL EVO 400i with KT150 valves and NOS tubes for the preamp stage and rectifiers. I always go back to Triode mode as it is the best combination to me: power/dynamic, details, presence and beautiful voices and instruments. You loose a bit of the overall sound stage but it is negligable if speakers are placed accordingly. Bass gives more body too in this mode. I added a REL S812 connected to the high-level input for best results. Ultralinear mode is best for Classical music though. Speakers are Sonus Fabus Maxima Amator and source is a Rega P10 with a Japanese MC cartridge Hana ML and a VIDA Prima phono preamp. Wonderful combination!!
PL is amazing and but for me , a bit pricier than I like.. plus I have a stronger preference for Made in USA.. I ended up with a USA made , SET Class A, self biasing tube amp running a whopping 8 watts tops ! Best decision ever. It even heats my listening room !
@@tablesoup Agreed... the Made in China was an issue for me. Good to have choices. If I were ok with Made in China, I probably would also give a very hard look at Cayin and Line Magnetic....
I love my Evo 200! Over 1 year owner ship now.
I heard some Prima Luna at a Houston store and was quite impressed.

Prima Luna Evo 200 on display at ListenUp Colorado Springs!
2 cool guys talkin bout some cool gear *thumbsup* was glad to see this on my list
so what is this in yellow short doing here?
Its a real shame that kev took down the video review on the Raven Audio Amp, it was CLASS......A.......
Is it the same weight as a Cayin......
My understanding it is made in the same Chinese factory !!!
Can I run a sub with the Evo 100 integrated amp?
Yes
What are the chances a tube amp can power Maggies?
Not great!
Maggies demand a lot of current. Don't just go by watts.
Slim to none. Don't "sacrifice" just because it's a tube power amplifier.

@@Leicaphile27 thank you!
AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE, I SMELL ....
anyone else thinking ..'Hagrid' ?
Exactly !!!
Prima luna is diff to prima vera.. Rite.. peace!
Why does prima Luna have such a negative reputation?
Because they're CHINESE JUNK!
Because some people don't like that it's produced in China. They're extremely good though; listen to those who've actually heard them.

@@ptg01 Prima Luna is actually built by CAYIN.
I think I must be a woman, it all makes sense now....
