These games were really good, honestly. Playing on hard was probably the main mistake, it probably expects you to already have some weapon upgrades before trying that one.
Taking even half a second to aim for headshots, rather than just randomly blasting away at the zombies' torso, probably would have helped a lot too. Also the pissing and moaning about Darkside Chronicles is ridiculous, given that by the end of the first mission, it should already be pretty obvious that the game will ebb and flow between the shaky-cam mode (basically glorified cutscenes) and shooter mode (where the enemies will actually hurt you). The game only expects players to be able to consistently land shots in shaky-cam mode when you're familiar enough with the game that you know the correct timing for reloading, rather than wasting your shots then be stuck with reloading while enemies attack.

When you're not familiar with the game, you can pretty much treat these as just cutscenes, and use them as opportunities to take a breather while picking up the occasional item. Once you're familiar enough with the game, you can be a lot more active, and use these as a chance to rack up higher scores.
I remember being really, REALLY irritated at how they changed Alexia Ashford's personality in Darkside Chronicles, ESPECIALLY her attitude towards Alfred. The original game with her seeing a dying Alfred as her first sight when waking up, then calmly singing to him while naked as he's dying/dead and her tentacles attacked Claire and Steve; like that was ICONIC. It was creepy, disturbing, yet also sad cos twisted as it was, the twins loved each other. DSC turns Alexia into just a brat. Like it's not cathartic to fight her. In the game, and even in the freaking official comic AND novelisation of the game, Alexia was torturing Steve and Claire and not directly killing them cos she was upset at how they killed her brother. Now it's just that she's a brat and childish. I did like that Alfred's whole mental situation was better portrayed in DSC at least. It's a lot clearer and made less for laughs about his split personality problem. Better portrayed overall.
I’m currently replaying Darkside chronicles. The only thing I’ve been upgrading is the fire rate for the pistol. I remember playing this back in the day and this thing firing like an SMG and hitting like a shotgun.

Umbrella Chronicles is utterly BRUTAL! Critical hits are a must, and the hit box might as well be the size of a pin! Darkside Chronicles was a more easier but still had its difficult moments. All in all, their both great games and worthy titles for any die hard Resident Evil fans to have in their collection.
I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil so when I heard about these games I had to by and play them. I really liked them and still play them to this day on my refurbished WiiU using an mCable to upscale the visuals on my TV.
My father got me into Resident Evil with Umbrella Chronicles. Since then I loved the franchise and absorbed the lore. I played with him, using the wii remotes and had so much fun! Also, my wii remotes didn't have a bad target reticle. I could say the line of "September 30th, 1998." Because it sorta was that way for me LMAOOO. + Billy and Rebecca were my favorites. I wish Capcom would give them more love and care someday, missed potential characters there.

Nah man, Darkside Chronicles was amazing, it actually had so much content and replay value to it, playing either on hard isn't smart unless you know the controls and a basic idea of what to expect. They actually was super fun, only downside of them was i destroyed several zappers by jamming the B button but rapid pressing for hours. My sister used to play with me, got her into RE as a series, though she enjoyed destroying the map and saw the zombies as a inconvenience (she loved destroying stuff could give gold or items... for some reason was her thing). good times. The Wii was a odd console but it had some innovative ideas and brought some fun unique experiences like light guns, which was pretty rare after sega died.
I always loved then some games said on the back that they were compatible with the gun accesory. They all were, its just a holder for the nunchuk and wii mote.

Although i never played those titles i kinda liked how they merged character stories in one and its how i was expecting RE2 remake to look while keeping the separate stories. Kinda hoping they at least have some of the similar things from Darkside's version of Code Veronica in a possible remake. Not having high hopes though.
I remember when I was a lot younger, I used to be horribly stuck on the first G-Birkin fight in Darkside Chronicles. Now at this point in my life I did have some experience with railshooters as I did own the House of the Dead 2&3 Return Collection as well as House of the Dead Overkill, but Darkside Chronicles can be very.. unforgiving. I remember the last time I played I was getting PISSED because of how much unnecessary damage I was taking from bosses simply because I was reloading my shotgun. Plus the cinematic camera swaying throwing a dude's accuracy way off. I'll admit though, DC has some of the finest and best voice acting produced by Leon and Claire's VAs for the franchise.
Fun video, I think you can play it up well on camera and when you know the game is 'jank' and it's fairly obvious (i.e. here or Cyberpunk old version) then you do way better with how the video comes across. This video was just fun. Good job.

Man these games were awesome, the Wii had a lot of arcade light gun style games like this. Not all were good, but the RE games were bangers.

I loved these rail shooter games. My favorite is Deadstorm Pirates, on the PS3 Time Crisis disc. Great fun with the PS Move.
Every Wii title that's part of a greater series, from other consoles, feels like complete fever dreams.
