I’m old school-every time I get paid, I drive straight to the bank, I take out my savings money in cash and place it in an envelope.
I noticed if I tried to save electronically, I’d transfer the money from savings almost every time. This way, if I’m going through my busy work day, I can’t spend it because I can’t leave work to drive all the way home to get the cash.

Great advice!!! New sub here! Oftentimes, I try to buy a large pack of meat and use it for multiple meals. So instead of buying one lb of ground beef at $4.99, I will buy 5 lbs of ground beef on sale for $13. Five one lb packs of ground beef will cost me ~$25, so I save $12. I also substitute higher cuts of meats for cheaper cuts. So for fajitas I may use boneless, skinless thighs vs chicken breasts, unless it's on sale. Legs and thighs are often on sale for $.99/lb in my area. I only but meats that are on sale for the week.

    • @tarynstewart8279
      @tarynstewart8279 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@kristenalmonte1110 yes; you can reach out to your mortgage lender to find out how to do this. Sometimes you have to make an extra payment upfront in order to get started (depends on the lender) but otherwise it should be a painless process. Paying biweekly breaks your payments up. For example, I pay on the 15th and the 30th which coincides with when I get paid at work.

Open a maintenance account for yourself and automatically put the money you were using for subscription in it. At the end of the year if you want to treat yourself to anything you'll take it from that account. It's also a good idea to have between 5 and 10% of your pay transfered there . The money adds up and it's very freeing to know if you want to go on vacation or buy something expensive for yourself you already have an account for those purchases.

Instead of wasting money on ordering coffee out and eating out a lot, and buying stuff we don’t really need when our grandchildren were born we opened a 529 plan and put that extra money we had in there for their college someday. They are now in college and are so thankful we can help pay for it. It brings us more joy knowing they will be debt free when they graduate instead of them getting the money when we pass away in the future.

Grocery shopping on line helps me to stay within the the budget because I can see what I am spending as I go along. Also I can stall and compare prices on items. Delivery offers help as midweek is cheaper and as stores are several miles away it is cost effective for me.

We also revamp our vacation options regularly.
Last year we decided that instead of mad rushing trying to do a major end of year vacay back home to NY/Niagra Falls (it's mid November in the south.but blizzard temps there) and dealing w definite possibility of cancelled flights (if there was even a reasonably priced one 🙄), car rental, hotel rental, meal places, & getting stuck that we would take a nice day trip to Ruby Falls 1.5 hour drive from home (& can do less than a tank of gas 👊🏾), caught a bite and do a little picture taking up on Lookout Mtn, then we came back that evening of December 30th.
Then we got up early New Year's Eve & headed to Savannah next morning. Got down there mid afternoon, checked into a wonderful classic hotel/bead & breakfast to enjoy the ambiance, took a trolley tour, strolled the shops and historic landmarks, found a nice little restaurant & grabbed a bite & relaxed before heading to set up our chairs & fuzzy blankets on the waterfront. We watched the fireworks and welcomed in the new year.
Both trips came to less than half (including aggravation tax of the Niagra trip)😂.
We were less than a day either way from home, didn''t have to deal w TSA, ice on the wings, possibly getting stranded on runways, possibly no snacks, cranky everybody, etc and STILL came wayyyy within our "getaway" budget.😊
We're also big on brown bagging our lunch (& breakfast for me) but I don't prefer nuking my food so I invested in something called a Hot logic. I saw some vids by flight attendants who don't like nuking their food when they get to their hotels. It looks like a small lunch box, folds flat, & has a heating element inside (about the size of a tablet). But it's not quite a hot plate. It can fit a micro/frozen meal, but I use the little mini loaf pans that come 3 in a pack from the dollar store. In one, I heat up my waffles & sausage, in another, I heat up my lunch (usually a potato wedge and chicken or cut up pork chop or spaghetti, & in another I might have a piece of banana bread or not. Sometimes I mix my oatmeal w fruit & milk & put the little 4oz ceramic bowl in it for my breakfast. Hubs makes great seafood soups and I LOVE taking lobster and shrimp bisque during these chilly days😊.
It zips shut, doesn't burn, and once my food is heated, it maintains the temp until I'm ready for it. Best $20 I've spent. My coworkers are absolutely jealous because my little office smells better than the nuked whatever they've just rubberized😂.
~Great ideas, Bola!! Keep it up!

I am a couponer. About two years ago I was I started trying to figure out how to cut cost on my husbands glucerna (he is a diabetic) and these nutritional supplements can be a quite costly. I discovered that Publix supermarkets was practically giving these nutritional items away if you used a Publix coupon plus a manufacturer coupon. I was sold since then there are certain things that I don’t pay full price for if I pay anything besides tax. I don’t pay for shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, brand name laundry items and the list goes on. In fact, many of my gifts (birthday, baby showers etc) come from my stockpile. I can truly go the next 9 months or more without having to buy paper Towels, bath tissue, tissue, cold medicine etc.

I do weekly payments on my car loans. This way I pay them off easily.

I thought I was the only person who did that. Lol. Yes that's the best way. I usually take the 5 year loans because the payments are smaller but I pay it weekly and finish it in 2 to 3 years. The smaller payments give me a sense of security incase my hours are reduced. It's easier to find $200 than $ 500 incase my hours tried up.

For travel, if I don't have cash to pay for my package I don't go. And when travelling, I look for sales and read reviews on TripAdvisor to make sure I am going to a decent place and also for tour advice. I always get good deals for 4 star resorts. I buy my groceries when they are on sale. Buy your milk in the 3 bags package and freeze. Use one at a time. I also shop in stores when things are on sale. For seniors shop on seniors discount day. I shop for some things at large discount stores. They have high quality things for the kitchen for half the price. You can also get good quality clothes if you have time to search through the racks. Call your utility providers to get them to lower your monthly rates. They do this on a yearly basis. Check out places that sell goods from bankrupt stores. I got my last wide screen new TV for $120 Can. We all know that large families should buy at the big box stores to buy in bulk. I hope this helped.

So I just came across your channel!!! I am looking forward to watching and learning because I am 51 and I have nothing to show for. Very disappointing and ashamed of myself at this point of my life.

No, you have kept yourself fed and have a roof over your head. Now that you want more you can do it. You have brought yourself through 50 years. That alone is no small feat.
      Start from here.

It’s never too late my dear sis. It’s what you do from now that matters. Ensuring you are equipped with necessary info and you will be amazed at what you can achieve from now onwards. Don’t despise days of small beginnings

Championing for you. Today forward is a new way of thinking and behaving. We do what we know until we know better. We all can relate to that in some aspect of our lives.
