Another 2 tips for the first step: 1- Make sure the picture of you is flipped from how you see yourself in the mirror (so a regular picture, not a selfie) -2 Put the picture in black and white. These both help you see yourself more objectively and see the value of lights and darks on your features (where you are supposed to draw the lines) I learned this from painting tutorials to find more acurate values.
Another reason selfies are not good for this is lens distortion. Selfies make the center of your face (nose) look larger/wider and your face overall look narrower
Except I feel like essences is about vibe, not specifically features. It's about the way your features interact with each other and give off an impression. This is how I think people type themselves wrong
This is very true. In fact I think watching a video of yourself is probably the best way to figure it out. I actually watched video of myself split screened with the Truth Is Beauty boards to figure out what was harmonious. That *really* helped me understand my "vibe" beyond just structure. There are common shapes that we see among the different essences, so a line drawing might help you narrow down a bit.
I think vibe has a more prominent role in what your essences might be. All the way down to how you walk/how high or low your voice is pitched at etc. liv tyler has dominant ingenue and romantic i believe despite having what a lot of people assumed was the most ethereal looking face being long oval and soft.
@@TurdTortoise Rachel at TiB has her typed as Ethereal. I would agree with Ethereal, but probably also with Romantic and some Classic. She seamlessly played an elf in LoTR, so high Ethereal really makes sense to me, and she has a vibe of ageless wisdom. But also I could see what you're saying with a youthful sweetness from her. Ingenue is surely in her mix. But that's why I like to refer to the way Kitchener types people - giving them percentages of every essence.
@Nerdy-By-Nature john kitchener has typed liv tyler as having 40% youthful and 30% romantic as her dominating essences and 10% each of angelic, classic and high spirited. I was actually surprised ethereal wasn't a higher percentage but it's where she gets her length from
You’re so pretty Ellie! And I agree that the ingenue, classic and ethereal perfectly describe your essences (with maybeee a dash of gamine sprinkled in there)
Well, if I have big eyes'' that means my eyes look noticeably big for the size of my face (like the face area), or compared to other parts of my face. It's all relative, same with body types, and essence is really all about the vibes you give off. Rounded, sharp, big small, short, long, but it may be easier to see in others than in yourself, I feel. Her full video on it explains it better tho
I would probable use a photo that someone took you a bit far away because the front camera on phones tend to change your shape and size of everything due to the lenses
I thought in some cases "large" can mean Yin as well (big eyes, big lips) if it's on the rounder side, and the opposite too (small is Yang if it's more narrow or sharp like thin lips)
Can you please please PLEASE make a video on all of the features that would be on a completely dramatic face, and the same for each of the faces? It would be easier to see how each of the features compare between the essenses
How can you tell what's small/big, round/sharp, wide/narrow? Isn't it all relative? Relative to what? Tbh when a face isn't extreme, it just looks like a normal face

@@TurdTortoise considering how well she wears Ethereal and *needs* length to look normal, I honestly do not get that.

How do you know what's considered small, medium or large given ethnicity/race?

Can you show an example of another line drawing of some Dramatics, Naturals, and Gamines ect.

Thank you Ellie! Yes, we want to know which features equate to which essences :)

Cool, very interesting
Who else is a romantic? 😘
Can you analyze Madison Beer’s face next?
Gamine or modern. That western face that many of them like "2016 makeup style" remember of that face type?is modern. Madison fit in that.
What essence goes with the dramatic face shape?
I've got a very short space between my eyes and eyebrows - does this contribute to dramatic look? I feel like I remember you saying that a while back.
The only “yang” thing i got is large lol
How did you “deduce” your features? That transition was not explained.
She has a more in depth video on the process.
Forgive my ignorance but what is procreate?
it's an art software. You can also use Photoshop.
What about being sharp, straight but short features?
Gamine.
