    I have to say the IR Blaster on the Switch Bot Hub Mini, which I got with the Kickstarter for the Blind Tilt, is freaking amazing. It doesn't even need full line of sight to work. I have a half wall between my Switchbot mini hub and the TV and receiver and the activation is 100% reliable, so if the new hub is even better than that, then this will be an absolutely brilliant IR Blaster.
    Regarding Z-Wave. The 700 Series introduced Long Range with upto a mile range with 700 Series chips. 800 Series extends this to a possible 1.5 Miles, and also adds Vault security options. Aside from that, the 800 series is quite similar to 700 series Z-Wave chips

      Oh man, if you loved the Hub Mini...this thing's next level. I don't even need to point it at the device. I think if I'm seeing things right there's a few on the Hub.
      Plus the readback thing is great. I just hope there's more electronics we can use that with.

    Yet another fun video from our friend to the north!!! I don't really have a need yet for the newest Hubitat hub, but was thinking as you showed the moisture sensor that if it was being used somewhere in the yard, you might get it to work because of the better radios (antennae) where other hubs won'.. I really believe that for the most part Matter won't matter much with a Hubitat hub in play. It already doesn't Matter to me as my devices connect fine to Homekit, & Amazon. They'd also connect fine to SmartThings if I still used it. I have the Switchbot hub coming so am anxious to check that out. I have the Aqara doorbell but since I don't really need one, I decided to take a chance and try this as a driveway camera attached right to the side of my garage door. It's only rated as IPX3, but I can say after exposure to a number of hard spring rains here, it's behaving perfectly and the wide angle is well suited for what I'm doing. BTW, in this area none of the delivery folks ever ring the doorbell. It's even true with my neighbors who aren't cored with cameras .Keep it up, Brian!

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I haven't had much use for those new radios personally just because most of what my Hubitat Hub has in it is indoors and the mesh worked fine previously, so...to me that one's a real nice to have feature. However, I could see some of those situations outdoors being great like you said!
      Also, does anyone ring a doorbell?

    The soil sensor looks more suited to larger flowerbeds. For the pot, you can find something smaller, an efekta soil sensor would be perfect, particularly with an e-ink screen, though I suppose finding them in stock is going to be hard and the price is quite high

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeahhhh, I was excited to try it...but honestly, it's been pretty good even in that smaller pot!

      You're not Mikey! That's my hope for lots, but I have been watching development of many hubs and their Matter connectivity, and it doesn't always go well from a hardware standpoint. Soooo, it's best with new hardware (so far).

    Brian: Although the Wyze Mesh Router(s) support up to 100 devices, does either router move devices to the other router when the first one hits the 50 device limit? The eero does not. I gave up on eero 6e because it would not.

      @@AutomateYourLife Brian: I understand. Frankly I don't know how you manage to review, compare, and prepare presentations of as many products as you do. I can affirm for your audience, that is is very much appreciated. We can rely on your honest assessment and that means a lot to us.
      I want to add. I've been using the ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 now for about 8 months. If I would stop tweaking the Wireless settings, I would see great system performance. But I often mess up and must reload a safe configuration. Yes, we can reload a previous configuration without blowing away and starting over. But I digress.
      I want to share. I just realized and now I understand, the ET8, has a DUAL WAN mode. We can hook up a second ISP as a failover backup. WOW. I also have Starlink. So, I made it my backup LAN. When the main ISP connection fails, the Routers simply selects the backup and I don't look a "bit". Very cool. Please put this on your list as #1 Nice to have features on a Router, and talk about them next time.

    Great video!! Much appreciated. Is it possible to do a demo video where you connect the devices to the Samsung Smartthings Station hub? I bought the hub a week ago and can not connect any Aqara products to it. There are no QR codes, nor the scanning for devices "nearby" work. I try also tried connecting by "selecting from a list of devices," and the connection always failed. What I am doing wrong? There is not a lot of Smartthing Station help videos on TH-cam. Is that I already have my devices connected to my Aqara hub?
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Why does nobody make a mailbox sensor yet?
    I put a Wyze sense gen 1 motion detector in my mailbox and I have an Alexa routine that announces that "I Got mail YAAAY"
    but it only worked some of the time because of the Faraday cage effect of it being inside a metal mailbox.
    signal strength was terrible and then the bridge stopped working with the camera that was close to the mailbox so now it gets no signal at all.
    They need to make a sensor that is basically a contact sensor but with the magnetic reed switch extended on a wire so you can place the main part of the sensor under the mailbox
    and then stick a magnet to the mail box door/lid and run the wire with the magnet sensor inside the box.
    Aliexpress just had a big sale and I ordered a cheap Tuya contact sensor for $2!
    I am hoping I can modify it to extend the magnetic red switch.
    They should make one with a JST connector and a switch to switch between the internal reed switch and an optional one that you just plug in to the JST connector.
