    Xenos: We surrender!
Humanity: “Sorry, I can’t hear you over all this proportionality!”

Those who turn to violence as their first course seal their own fates and prove themselves unworthy of continued existence. Humanity was attacked unprovoked by a species set on extermination. When those xenos found itself out matched in such fields it did what evil always does, attempt to plead for it's own survival against a foe it would have not extended the same curtsy in hopes of exploiting their empathy.
Seeing this turn of fortune the other races foolishly feared the humans and rush to the defense of a xenocidal race. Thus aligning themselves with evil and warranty the same punishment. Which just goes to show their stupidity as not only did they fail to see what wrongs the aggressor had done but also in defending them they are by extension approving their actions. Unlike in human warfare you can't claim there are some innocence because in a Hive mind there is no such thing, all are one and thus a race is united in goal and purpose on a level unimaginable on earth.
The closest example I can think of is if in WW2 the rest of the world was outraged by the US being so powerful and use of nuclear weapons had turned against the US to help protect Japan. No diplomacy or such, just out right hostilities. It doesn't take a genius to realize how badly this would end for the rest of the world. Pissing off the only super power on the block is a bad idea and would be stupid especially after they show you want they got.
The Xenos basically pulled a Pearl Harbor only instead a tiny portion of deaths compared to the total population it killed 100s of times more people than are alive in the world today. Thus imagine modern day earth being wiped out several hundred times and that is the scale of their crime. Yeah, nothing short of extermination is on the table at that point. There is no defense for such actions and one can't allow the risk of a repeat offender.
I also don't agree with the conclusion at the end though, humanity is not the virus but the antibodies where as the pulse is the virus. It infects whole species and brings them under a single unified Hive mind. When a hostile variants of those Hive minds lash out the more pacify strains simply keep their distance. However when the hostile Hive mind variant is under threat the other Hive minds rush to it's defense as if they shared one purpose, which they do. After all the story started with the Narrator talking about how they would go from world to world and "bring them into the pulse", aka INFECT them. That sounds a heck of a lot more like a disease spreading than humanity defending itself against a growing number of hostile pulse races that are trying to wipe them out due to fear.
EDIT: For more proof on this the Narrator's species having not attacked the antibodies were left alone in the same way our bodies allow many beneficial bacteria to exist in our bodies without attacking them. Virus try to spread by any means they can and adopt various survival strategies to do this. The humans only went after the hostile variants and the Narrator's species was by his own admission not going to enlighten the other hives of this fact so they were purged. But it continues it's spread with a new vector sending out this message to warn others not to confront the universes antibodies.

@@Bellator_of_the_Shadow Thanks. I like to point out the Bias in things because I've seen multiple stories that try to paint humans as a "virus" when it's clear either the Narrator or the Author doesn't understand biology. I make that distraction because it's possible the author is going for unreliable narrator and thus the character doing the narration intentionally gives false information.
Virus can't spread on their own and thus need to infect other living things to spread. When they do they overwrite the function of those cells and force it to create more of itself. Thus by it's very nature a virus is destructive which is why I think people who have a negative view on humanity like to compare us to them.
Even in big budget movies like Matrix you have Agent Smith comparing humanity to a virus, which like this story is a virus accusing someone else of being a virus. Smith gains the ability to enter other people and overwrite them to make more of himself, just like a virus.
If one wanted to be more accurate while down playing humans then call us Bacteria would be more accurate as they are completely independent organism that can grow and multiple on their own. But unlike viruses that are only bad and thus the word has a negative conitation, there are lots of Bacteria of which some are good and some are bad as it's all a matter of perspective.
It's like the difference between Fermentation and Rot. One is beneficial and lets us make things like Wine and Cheese while the other makes the food inedible. They are the exact same process in terms of letting bacteria break something down it's just a matter of if it breaks down into something useful for us.

Excellent theory and I agree to it, but I wont give you thumb up for US superpower theory, because is so wrong, that borders sheer ignorance.

I think the big problem here is the same one with Changelings in Deep Space Nine. The human race are individuals, who were taught to share memories and thoughts. That's okay, to a point, until someone decides to share a nightmare. The narrator is wrong about that. The attack didn't wipe out the humans who would sue for peace, it instead made it so those humans simply don't exist.
A horror visited on one, in a hive mind, is a loss, but not insurmountable. A horror visited on one, and shared by all is an act of war unprecedented in the history of the universe. Worse for they knew what they were doing, and it sounds like it spiraled out only because the other races, seeing what they were capable of, decided they needed 'pruning' and repeated the first mistake again and again.
This is the history of a mad universe, one that kept doing the same thing, and expecting a different result.

I think the problem was the guiding race had no idea what was going on. They wouldn’t have landed in major cities or been so confused to the reactions otherwise. This whole thing seems like the guiding race not sharing information started every conflict they mentioned.
