I don't care about Jobriath's sexuality,why should it matter anyway?..the fact is this guy was very talented and had an incredible grasp on music even from a very early age..a great performer as well!
The movie is very good, and it tells a story more people should know about. To let a silly remark cause you to become disinterested in this movie would be cheating yourself, as well as cheating the legacy of Jobriath!
John Frame's comment is on point. Turner lost his credibility with me when he badmouthed Pansy Division. I don't feel any need to defend them as their body of work and tour record speaks for itself. Turner's movie, currently playing near me (in Pansy Division's home town btw) has dropped on my to-see list.
Or maybe Kieran Turner simply didn't think that Pansy Division's music is good enough not to be subordinate to their image. One's credibility isn't necessarily squandered by recognizing the reality that popular music is full of earnest but mediocre acts that draw audiences with a gimmick.

Turner badmouthing Pansy Division (about 4:15) was a seriously bad move - throwing his credibility out the window by showing that he is casually judging that passionate and politically active openly gay (and straight inclusive) band in the same cursory dismissive manner with which he knew people had treated Jobriath. Up to that point I had been keen to see the film at the Brisbane Queer Film Festival tomorrow.

Pansy Division does not always sing about boys in underwear. Pansy Division sings about other stuff just like Jobriath. Both have great music though.
