Today, at age 79, Maestro Abreu passed away.
After watching his Ted Talk again with my daugther, a 15 years old violist rised in El Sistema, I understood something very valuable: He will not die.

This program should be included in every community of the United States and this video should be shown to every parent, teacher and student in our schools. It is an example of what is possible with the right attitude and opportunity for every youngster who deserves this opportunity. We may never know who is not recognized with a great talent for the world to recognize and remember! Bravo to Mr. Abreu, who should be an inspiration for everyone who appreciates and loves music!

After seeing what Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu did for the Venuzuelan Youth through music, I only dream and wish to work for same kind of music revolution in India especially among the socially and economically backward classes of India. Let us be hopeful.

Puedo justificar lo que dijo la Madre Teresa. La pobreza mas grande del alma es cuando quienes nos dieron la vida nos niegan el amor, el respeto la proteccion y el apoyo.Pero por otro lado esos ninios somos los mas ricos espirituales porque para sobrevivir ese desgracia tan grande nos aferramos a Dios y aprendemos que desde muy temprano que la vida depende solo de uno mismo y de sus propios esfuerzos.
José Antonio Abreu était vraiment un grand bienfaiteur de l'humanité. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi on ne lui a pas décerné le prix Nobel de la Paix ! J'espère que son œuvre lui survivra.

Maestro maestríssssimo. Ser humano insuperable. Solo una frase me inspira total desacuerdo. "Solo el arte y la religión..." La religión es lo que conforma el fanatismo y la subjetividad que nos ha sumido en los episodios históricos más peligrosos y generadores de pobreza e ignorancia y la palabra "solo" separa otras muchas virtudes (como la ciencia) de la formación del ser talentoso y desarrollado espiritualmente.

Ojalá que el caracter, la personalidad y la pasión del maestro José Antonio Abreu se multiplique por millones en Venezuela, creo que sería la única forma de desarrollar este país, librandonos de la mentalidad mediocre y conformista que hoy por hoy impera en esta nación.
"El Sistema" es un excelente método de desarrollo general, comenzando por el bloque básico de una pirámide social, LOS NIÑOS.
@kimosapiens Precisamente, el maestro Abreu tuvo una idea maravillosa y durante màs de treinta años estuvo trabajando pràcticamente con la uñas, porque los proyectos por màs novedosos y maravillosos que sean, necesitan de financiamiento; cosa que en epocas anteriores no tuvo. Ahora El Sistema se masificò porque precisamente ese financiamiento que antes no tuvo ahora lo tiene. Eso es lo que se le agradece a Chavez. No es fanatismo, es saber reconocer lo que hay que reconocer.

Están muy bien todos los aportes que ha hecho el sistema, todos los logros y todas la ovaciones y viajes, entre otros... pero se les pide por favor consideración con los trabajadores y trabajadoras del plan vacacional de agosto 2016 en Mérida-Venezuela a quienes no se les ha cancelado esta gran labor que realizaron a punta de esfuerzo y mucho sacrificio... Y así para un futuro, los trabajadores estén confiados de que su labor será recompensada. No tengo 1 sino 4 amigos que pertenecen a orquestas y lo que me cuentan ellos es muy distinto a lo que tu me dices, eso por un lado y por el otro no tengo manera de saber si es verdad que perteneces a una orquesta. Es màs me puedes decir que eres un viejo de 40 y que eres el mejor amigo de Abreu y no tengo manera de comprobar que es verdad. Yo hablo de lo que me consta y no voy a especular sobre algo que no tengo manera de verificar.

Makes also realise that artists, singers and actors in this world win too much money.. and frankly, some of them do not even sing or act well. Sometimes, that musical gift of a children is wasted because there is nobody to lend that child a hand; I'm talking here about teachers, managers, disc recording companies.
