Here was my perspective watching this movie as a 6 year old. Spiderman was one of the very first superheroes I was introduced to as a kid and I legitimately thought he was invincible. All of the sudden, this terrifying and devilish looking goblin comes in and gives Spiderman a good ass whooping throughout the movie. That was terrifying through a 6 year old's perspective and that's what made Goblin an amazing villain to me.
Even younger, back when I was a fetus inside my mother about 36 weeks in, I could feel my mother's fear towards the green goblin. That was terrifying through a 36 weeks old fetus perspective and that's what made the Goblin an amazing villain to me.
I loved Goblin's introduction in this scene, the fact none of the civilians knew what the goblin's intentions were and thought he was there to show off on his glider and then his attack, a terrifying and menacing way to introduce a villain!
What’s even more chilling is how far away the goblin was and peters spider sense went off showing how much of a danger the goblin was. Like the goblin was blocks NYC blocks away not even in sight yet.
Yes I do like the 'Yay look he's so cool, let's cheer, wait no, something's off, he's here to kill us, run!' approach, makes the villain truly menacing.
I love how Sam Raimi understood the campiness of the early Spiderman comics and translated it perfectly to the big screen while still doing something completely new and fresh to the superhero movie universe.

He quipped all the time...that was kind of his thing. I'm starting to believe that A LOT of you are only familiar with THIS version of the character...
@@SlasherIncorporated And Tom Holland's character development at the end of Homecoming was completely thrown out. In both sequels he was made to be a stupid kid again, and was the cause of his own problems (again). Each movie was exactly the same, and leaned too hard into the "Iron Man Jr." plots. It took a nostalgia crossover just to make it less stale. MCU's spider-kid is simply not a good character, but instead just cheap fanservice for Marvel lovers looking for any semblance of the Sony and FOX characters. It took 4 films, a memory wipe, and the final cliffhanger just to set him up as the Spider-man he should have been.
Someone told me once the: "WE'LL MEET AGAIN, SPIDER-MAN" was all Willem Dafoe, not scripted just him, impovised yes, but he knew what a villain should have
Not gonna lie, I always loved Mary Jane's dress in this scene. The print, the folds, and the color really bring out the best in her. I know, she is a damsel in distress, but I still liked her as a character as well because I related to her struggles in earning her own way in life, and building close relationships. Even when she made mistakes in her relationships, she taught me to always be honest about how I feel about my life and what is/isn't working in it.
A lot of people hate Mary Jane in the original trilogy because, she's screams a lot, is literally a damsel in distress, cheats on Peter and fans prefer Gwen Stacy and Michelle they're not damsels in distress.

Uufffffffff jojojojojo concuerdo
The CGI didn't but the pure wonder if Dafoes acting even if just his voice over a CGI model or in this weird suit was still so well done.
Agreed
Its still the best Spiderman to date. That suit is just amazing. It looks great, straight out of comics but 100% real.
Spiderman 2's Doc Oc gets alot of credit. But I've always loved Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin.
Norman bombing the same balcony where Harry was standing showed how much he despised him, Bully maguire was right afterall.
Norman's personality and goblin personality are 2 different people. Norman cares for his son but goblin doesn't care for anybody.
Its was goblin not norman plus he didnt exact aimed towards harry. Its impossible yo know if he even knew harry was there lol
@@alecgiblin7499 it was a joke.
Well Peter didn't believe Norman when he said the Goblin did it, he said that Norman tried to kill Aunt May, Mary Jane and the people on the Balcony
@@repwashere That's because that wasn't Norman speaking to him.

you notice how at 1:15 tobey can sense green goblin before he'd was anywhere near him. and he wasn't even a direct threat to tobey.
That’s what Spidey Sense is for 😂
Sometimes I think it can detect potential threats that are 100% dangers
2:40 Stan Lee immediately kidnaps a little girl during the chaos
These movies of Tobey feels wholesome
“Let’s hear it for.. MACY GRAY!” God, I miss the early 00s.

No Stark techs, no millenial woes, no direct-to-Disney Channel shenanigans, no quips every nanosecond...
Just THE Spiderman.
Have you MCU Spider-Man-hating fans ever picked up a comic...? Or watched any Spider-Man animated series? He used tech in the comics and cartoons. He started off as a teenage kid.
@@SlasherIncorporated He was never meant to be Tony Stark's ward and so many other things. You're the one who needs to pick up a spider-man comic.

Such an nostalgic scene of one of my favorite Spider-Man scenes growing up when I was a kid ❤️🕷
4:18 It always cracks me up just to see Spiderman running on the ground for some reason
I think its cause hes running so slow 🤣
This was almost my favorite scene as a kid spidey was killing it after battling with green goblin in order to save Mary Jane and everyone else it was phenomenal back then and I still loved it now,Tobey always brings inspiration to our hearts....he's badass, he's a warrior and he's powerful I respect him for that.
Man i can't wait to see the green goblin in spider-man no way home i'm looking forward to it my favorite Spider-Man villain and i hope see Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield in the movie i'm looking forward to see them in the movie it will be a real classic Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield and tom Holland vs the green goblin and doc ock and the lizard and the sandman and electro will be one epic clash
Out, am i
Andrew said no, he better be lying.
The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout down came the goblin and took the spider out Ha Ha Ha
Tobey Maguire
@@jaymarah94 Of COURSE he's lying. There's already been leaked photos from the set of No Way Home that confirms both Tobey AND Andrew's appearances- and not to mention the fact that there's also a photo of an action figure from No Way Home that is CLEARLY Tobey's Spider-Man! Plus, Marvel Studios has a secrecy clause, which is the other reason why Andrew is obviously lying!
He's way more creepy and intimidating in No Way Home, love it so much
Willam Defoe really stepped up his game after all these years. He's just owning the role.
@CYB3R2K30 and plus that character works way better in a “over the top” world like the one of the trilogy than in the “realistic” MCU universe, I think.
😭😭😭😭
@@VvaalleeF Lol when was mcu realistic? lol

I like how here his spider sense was able to detect the Green Goblin from miles away. But in Spider-Man 3 he can’t even sense Sandman’s moves lol Gotta love it.
What moves
Or when the symbiote attached to his moped when he and Mary Jane left Central Park.
Sandman was a bum ass villain.

@Santiago Vega cool
1:18 - the face that Peter's Spider-Sense is going off before the Goblin's anywhere to be seen should give you an idea of just how dangerous he really is.

Spider-Man is a tank. Just one of those grenades turned 6 people to ash, yet he took one to the face and thrown through a wall and he was basically fine.
