Did you notice the ashtray on the nurse's counter ? Smoking was allowed almost everywhere in those days. Our school bus driver smoked when us kids were on the bus with the windows closed. My schools had a teacher's lounge and they smoked in this room with no ventilation.
It's funny you say that, I had a teacher in high school in the seventies, who would smoke occasionally while teaching us, none of us thought anything of it, the seventies were a great time.
They had no idea of the harmful effects of nicotine.
I used to be an airline agent . Sometimes I’d have a cigarette in the ashtray lit while I’d board a flight
Dick York smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day then.

This episode would have been funnier if Dick York was still playing Darrin instead of Dick Sargent.
I will never understand how they could have cast Dick Sargent. Couldn't they tell he wasn't funny.
@@roxyshow123 Dick Sargent was a terrible choice to play Darrin. Oddly, Elizabeth Montgomery preferred Dick Sargent over Dick York.
I found Dick Sargent okay, I have commented many times, he was the original choice for Darren, but was unable to do it, due to another commitment.

When Tabitha was born.
They were lucky to get Eve Arden on her guest appearance in the early years. She was wonderful and funny too. 📺

birth was so different back then. men pacing in the waiting room, week long stay for mum and baby. now men have to witness the horror and they kick you out after 24 hours
I don't think either of my brothers would call childbirth a "horror" (my dad wouldn't have either), even though seeing your significant other in pain isn't enjoyable. One sister-in-law had caesarian births with her twin boys and daughter, while my other sister-in-law gave birth vaginally, first to one son, then a second, born a year later. One thing I will always remember about my youngest brother becoming a father was how happy he was. He was beaming.
That is not Darren..that was a self centered actor taking the place of a really great actor who shall forever , in my mind, be the real Darrin on this TV show.

Yes the original actor was too ill to continue playing Darren, he'd chronic back pain.
My God, they changed the actor playing the husband !

yes they did however a little background the actor who orginally played him had a serve back injury he got while making a movie it got so bad he collapsed on set and couldnt continue hence the recast

Um Samantha didn’t seem like in a labour sitaution at all. Like she was very Calm and collective it was weird cause usually in tv shows if someone gives birth in a tv show they’ll be in pain and getting frustrated with it. She seemed fine she didn’t look like a hot mess the only one who was stressing was Darrin she was fine. I didn’t quite understand why she was so relaxed being in that situation. But come to think of it why is it always the males get stressed out when there wives are giving birth and they like no I’m fine. But there like the one stressing to make sure things are alright. I guess.
Perhaps being a witch might have something to do with it.
@@JohnLee-pt5jz yeah maybe cause she is a witch. but I would expect her powers to go all crazy and berserk like Wanda was pregnant with the twins her powers went crazy cause she was pregnant. We kinda see that with Samantha with her powers mucking up a bit.
They changed how women gave birth on TV. There was a time when they were calm and confident.
thats the way it was back then the woman rarely showed emotions when having any kind of pain whether giving birth or hurting in any other way thats just everyday life
@Lanita Harnack is it every day, like I beg to differ on that. Women can show emotion and can show very HIGH emotions, especially when they are pregnant how can you NOT show pain when you are giving birth to a baby, that doesn't make sense.
She can’t open a car door? This whole show is about how men like their women weak and witch powers are a metaphor for being stronger and more competent than the husband. Glad I didn’t live then.
