  • (This is akathisia and dystonia during a "calm" time)
"Its a living nightmare. Its constant panic, constant pain, constant terror, constant wanting to die. Its worse than a horror movie.
There is no bad guy out there coming to get me, the bad buy is in me, tearing me apart from the inside."
"There is a whole other world out there full of pain, misery, suffering and death."
"Dont ever mistake education for intelligence"
Josh has been suffering since Jan 2014 with akathisia, parkinsonism and dystonia as a result of medication side effects and then being polydrugged.
This video started after viewing the new Akathisia commercial now going around. Josh shares his personal experience over the past few years, what he thinks of the commercial, how you get akathisia, living with akathisia or other side effects, the physical AND mental aspects, suicidal thoughts, background of what happend to Josh at the beginning with the ER and then being polydrugged, the revolving door of the medical industry, doctors, pharma side effects, tolerance, tapering, withdrawal, do your research and dont trust blindly, dont give away your power, Thank you to all the good doctors, "rare" is a comfort word, Listen to the experts which are the ones living the side effects, the daily levels of akathisia, agoraphobia, how the chemicals change you, you are a guinea pig for the Phase 4 clinical study, dont disregard the sufferers, listen to your loved ones over a degree, there is nothing wrong with you, homicidal effects, Akathisia and the bathroom, etc.

Listen dont not trust all doctors because of rare disorders. Josh is an extremely brave man and he suffered very badly but antidepressants do help a lot of people who have tried everything else too. Its not all black and white, the world is filled with shades of grey. Do I believe they over prescribe these pills for profit? I sure do but that doesnt mean all cases are like that. There are many studies done that have double-blind control groups and these drugs need to pass many stages of approval before they go to market. But like almost anything in life its a double-edged sword. Josh unfortunately was on the wrong side of the blade. While in Joshs specific circumstance, and Im sure many many other peoples circumstances its the right thing to do. But these drugs do help people too. The pills arent evil. Doctors don't learn medicine to hurt people. There are limits to our knowledge and our medical technology. The human brain and how it works is largely still a mystery. Josh is an extremely strong person. I have some chronic medical conditions myself and I dont think I could ever deal with what he has. I probably would have been one of the people who didnt make it. Hes a god damn warrior.

T Greaux akathisia isnt a rare disorder. psychiatry is a pseudoscience, the DSM 5 is pseudoscience. psychotropics only mask symptoms and eventually make people worse. Drug companies settle out of court and go through bogus clinical trials to get and keep these neurotoxins on the market. Research peter breggins books

I've watched several of your videos multiple times over the last few years for one reason or another and every time I just wish I could do something to help you. I've experienced akathisia and dystonia both, akathisia from stopping a medication and dystonia from being on one, but my experiences were limited or brief and have not as of yet happened again. I know I was deeply disturbed by what I went through, but I cannot even begin to imagine how this has affected your life. Your will to survive and push through is simply astounding. I just wish I had more to offer than words.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am actually in pharmacy school and this video was shown during a lecture to highlight the side effect of akathisia and it breaks my heart that you are going through this. I read a bunch of the comments and saw that it was induced by an SNRI, which I have never heard of, but I will never forget. I completely understand your anger and frustration toward psych medications and how unfair it is that this could happen. The truth is that we DON'T understand mental illness or the brain in general. We were presented about 5 potential theories for depression, all of which have their weaknesses. It's hard to study the brain. It's impossible really. I saw that others have recommended treatment meds and that nothing has worked so I won't bother with that. I just wanted to reach out and say I hope things get better for you, and I really am going to push for the appropriate and judicious use of medications in my future and thank you for helping bring awareness to not just patients, but providers/future providers.

Thank you for sharing your story. I had a reaction after first dose. It changed me tremendously. I have had same experience in the hospital. Once they gave Gabba to everyone. I called them out and was sent home. I have been yelled at as well. I twitch sometimes. My leg has been shaking since my first dose of a litany of meds. I was told it's normal as well. I was never suicidal or depressed. I have been flagged for speaking out. I have serious pain, but the emotional pain is ten fold. I'm so sorry you are going through this 💔 turned out I had early onset dementia. Meds caused depression. They even told me years later.

Emergency room visits were dead ends...my family isn't even understanding, theyd rather assume that I'm taking something else and not telling them. Seeing as I can't afford a Big Gulp, if love to know how they think I have means to buy anything....not to mention I'm basically on house arrest by order of my body and all the debilitating withdrawal symptoms...I can hardly eat, I can hardly get up for the bathroom.... You are a great spokesman. I have a movement disorder caused by Gabapentin, generic for Neurontin, which is Bi-Ballism. Of course doctors won't admit it. There were two doctors who took Neurontin, in 2003, and 2004 and developed severe Akathisia. They couldn't figure out what was causing it, because they believed the pharmaceutical reps who told them how safe it was. The complete account is under, "Neurontin Killed Our Husbands, We Believe." There are too many drugs ruining the nervous system, and these doctors who see it happen aren't reporting. It should be a law that they have to report. If it wasn't for victims like you and I making TH-cam videos, there wouldn't be any evidence to what they are causing. Thanks for your reporting.

    • @AimeeJoshJensen

I'm so sorry that your experience with mental health professionals hasn't been positive. As a future Psychiatric Nurse your videos have been very informative, but also make me so angry, and sad. I definitely agree with your views on medication. I see the positive of them in certain situations, however they are very over prescribed. It is a cost / risk benefit. It is very unfortunate that the pharmaceutical companies have a monopoly on the health care systems here in North America. There are many alternative therapies for mental illness, and it is such a shame that doctors and other mental health providers are pushed to prescribe, or they will not be paid. I hear your frustrations, angry, sadness, and it is all valid. I hope that I can be a part of a new generation of mental health providers that use medication as a last resort, instead of the first option.

I had Akathisia from Prozac. You describe it perfectly: worse than a horror movie, a living nightmare! It was just horrible! I was running 10 miles per day and swimming every day, could only manage this condition by exercising till total exhaustion. I hated everything and everybody and wanted to die. I had the feeling of burning from the inside, my whole body seemed to be on fire. I just wanted to crawl out of my skin and scream. I was in constant panic and anxiety. Fortunately everything went away by stopping Prozac but it took about 10 days. I could ease the pain with Ativan.

I've been doing some electronic lamp shades and have been getting some few profits from caring individuals and friends. You have to run your reward system, it can help you a lot by being occupied. Thank you both for posting this. Prayers for you from Australia. I came across your videos as I my housemate has this condition and I was not sure what it was from. It is extremely hard to find any information on it. He is still on a number of anti-psychotics and various other medication due to PTSD from a car accident where he lost one of his arms decades ago, schizophrenia (I think) and now years of meth abuse. He has recently stopped talking altogether and grunts and paces, sweats and looks like he is so much agony, distress and sometimes seems aggressive. We thought he just needed to get out for a walk as he spends alot of time in his bedroom, which I think is to try and stop himself from being disruptive. This is frightening that so many prescription pills can cause this as they are easily prescribed. Do you have any advice on how to interact with him when he like this? I just pretend not to notice and try to keep some normality about it but my partner prefers to be honest with him and to make him aware of it. Again, thank you for helping so many people.

The best thing to do is make sure they know they are loved and NOT crazy. There is nothing to do when it gets bad, they can't stop it, but just knowing they aren't crazy and you dont think they are is the difference between life and death for so many.

@@AimeeJoshJensen Have y'all found any relief yet? I found it through high doses of gabapentin (600mg 2-3x a day), but that has its own side effects including chemical dependency with tolerance, kinda like opiates. Another thing worth mentioning that is more natural & holistic would be black seed oil. Among a TON of huge benefits, it has calming effects on the nervous system and has been described as "a cure for every but death" by ancient healers. This in combo with magnesium and zinc could do wonders? Can get on Amazon. The B. S. O. has a very pungent bitter taste so capsules may be taken to avoid that. Or mix the liquid with food.

I've only come across your videos,. I wish I would have came across them last year. I was on clonazapan for 12 weeks stopped abruptly, I went into phycosis, I was given meds to stop them and then got Akathesia. Every thing u explained was the exact same for me,..I kept ringing helplines,..I literally wouldn't leave the hospital they got me arrested and put me in a cage at the back of their vans. I ended up in a mental home for 5months,. After about 3 months it stopped, I'm on 4 different types of meds and am so worried about if it comes back or when I have to come off. I went through hell they would tell me to "relax"...I overdosed on a break home from the hospital, well they had thrown me out at that stage. The overdose didn't kill me,as u can see. I'd love to know how you are now. I am traumatised almost from it all, but much better its gone,I still have other symptoms like fatigue insomnia. After a few occasion uses of alcohol and cocaine use (6 months ago) I get buzzing/crawling sensations, internal muscle tremors/vibrations, muscle twitching, heart palpitations, itchy tingling sensations, racing thoughts, restlessness and unable to stay still etc. I’ve read cocaine can be a major contributor to akathisia, dystonia and other motor function disorders. Had all medical tests ruled out to be told it’s just anxiety however this can be strongly questioned. These symptoms come in waves as well. From your knowledge and experience, do you know if this can be common for akathisia?

I have secondary or facial dystonia, so I am lucky it just effects my mouth. I have BOTOX every 10 weeks. I got it from an anti-depressant drug called escitalopram. I also developed akathisia for 3 years. I became an alcohol-dependent patient overnight to control the symptoms. I found out that my D2 receptors had been permanently damaged. I managed to work out myself that the akathesia could be dealt with as my 5HT-2A receptors were over active resulting in my D2 receptors not working at all. I took cyproheptadine for 3 months which is a 5HT2A and 5TH2C antagonist. So that cured my akathesia, my dystonia though was permanent. But I had to do this all on my own!
What you are feeling makes me cry, because i feel exactly what you did. I am not sure what drug caused this, but it is the down relegation of D2 receptors that caused my akathesia, but I also found out what caused the down relegation (after 2-3 years of drinking a bottle of whisky - and I wasn't even drunk, it just made me feel normal for a few hours). But please do not do this and stick to the cannibis, it is much safer as I ended up in hospital with hepatitus and kidney failure.
We'll done you two, for promoting this disease to help find a cure, as no medication helped me at all, except clonazepam a little, but benzo's are nasty and addictive.

I had my first experience with akathisia when I was given Reglan 20 years ago- something to do with the dopamine receptors. It’s like sheer panic on steroids- like being buried alive and trying to fight your way to the surface with no air! Sheer terror!People cannot see what is happening inside you and only see some restless movements which doesn’t even begin to explain it all!
I got a flu that never went away10 yrs ago (It’s called myelitis encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) in the US). ME is a medical condition that psychiatrists tried to get their hands on to profit off of. Thanks to Simon Wesley a lazy ass psychiatrist over in great Britain who thought it would be a great idea to go in where there was an epidemic of this illness going on and without examining a single patient decree that they were all suffering from mass hysteria or conversion disorder. He later laughed about how it was an easy thesis paper to write in order to get his degree! He managed to get it published and that was the start of a whole population of patients being scorned and left to suffer in hell with no research carried out until recently as the numbers of cases suddenly began to increase!! Simon Wesley was proven wrong by endless amounts of medical research in the past decade showing the actual physiological problems causing this living hell, but for over 50 years these desperately sick patients were abused and told it was all in their heads.
Something caused me to go into a state of akathisia for up to 8 hours daily starting about 6 months ago. The cause may be that I’ve been on the same dose of fentanyl for pain for 6 yrs and developed a tolerance-not addiction to it. This week I was finally given a minor fentanyl dose increase after months of begging because my pain is out of control on top of having the akathisia! It seems to have settled it down a little, but it is still occurring intermittently for hours at a time. They’ve also given me to clonidine which helps a little, but makes me drowsy. I don’t know if that is a medication you have tried but, I just thought I would mention it. The disease I have called ME, took me from bicycling 2 hundred miles a week to only being able to get from my bed to a recliner or the toilet. The akathisia is leaving me in a state of unbelievable torment physically and mentally as I rock constantly and twist and writhe about in bed. Even though I’m so weak I can barely get to the bathroom, I feel compelled to pace for relief!! You are describing this perfectly and watching you is stirring up panic within me!!! I cannot imagine being permanently trapped feeling like this constantly! Holy Jesus! God have mercy on you, please keep advocating for yourself because in this outrageous medical system no one gets it!! Doctors are trained by the pharmaceutical industry, so all they know how to do is hand out pills!! I pray to God someone will find an answer for you! You have done an excellent job of describing the sheer terror of this physical condition and the constant thoughts of suicide to escape the nightmare of its torment!!!

I have exactly what you have Josh. Since four years ago. It's lonely because nobody can understand what we go through. Doctors are either skeptical, don't believe you, or don't know how to have a conversation about it. I've never taken psychotropic medication, but I think mine is from peripheral neuropathy and the drugs I've been prescribed since 1999. Opiates (since it's a dopamine thing) are the only thing that works for me. I don't know about you? I would like to talk to you about it and compare notes. I know your pain. You can't focus on a task or anything when you are consumed with the intensity of this indescribable excruciating pain. Pace, pace, pace. Lay down cause your so exhausted, then start kicking your legs and get back up. pace, pace, pace, and sit down because you're so exhausted and rock back and forth for days, but it never goes away. Pace, pace, pace...and so it goes...days and days without any sleep because it's perpetual...IT NEVER STOPS OR GOES AWAY.. I want to talk to you when you're in the right mind for it.

So sorry to hear this. Even though the drug says the life of it is a certain amount of time it might have not cycled through your system. There are many that showed up on Joshs blood tests months after he stopped taking them

psychiatry and their drugs have also ruined my life, it is so sad what they are doing to us. I am too angry to even tell my story. but my family are the ones who have pushed me to be on these drugs and never say anything bad about a Dr. or else I get it.

My partner has been on antipsychotics for the past 12years
Weve been gradually tapering off the past year
She’s been on one of the lowest doses you can go
    And that’s 78mg
Although they do make a 39mg shot which the psychiatrist doesn’t want to work with us to get off the shot
    She saids schizophrenia is permanent
    The drug is called Invega
    She’s experiencing akathasia and dystonia
She’s been on 78mg the past 6 month
We are not sure to just cut it cold turkey from here and stay in this dose a little while longer in hopes that the dystonia and akathasia will go away..
Or attempt our best to advocate for a lower shot of 39mg to our non helpful psychiatrist..
She tells us they don’t make it..
I had to contact the company to assure that they do make it ..
    Anyways
We would really like that last shot reduction
Thank you so much for your videos..
You are not alone in your journey guys
    Remember that!

I had been told everything is in my fkin head and I started injecting b12 and supplement like crazy. Somehow I healed my neuropathy, maybe just maybe akthesia is a nerve condition and the brain is miss firing messages through the nerves, making your skin feel on fire have that from nerve damage. B12 made me much better within a month, I was dying a slow painful death. Doctors just told me I'm crazy, I'm glad I started injecting b12. I'm heading, but slow and steady

for many it goes away after stopping the offending drug. For others they are polydrugged like Josh causing more damage and it lasts longer

I eventually got here after looking up Restless Leg Syndrome & stumbling onto this video; th-cam.com/video/luKsQaj0hzs/w-d-xo.html
Josh I can’t begin to imagine your turmoil & that of your loved ones - thank God you have Aimee standing by you. Back in the 00’s, I got myself off Zoloft after 7 years of feeling like a flat version of someone who resembled me. I didn’t have the luxury of the internet to do research. I can only think myself lucky that I’m ‘relatively’ unscathed. Drs have wanted to put me back on ‘something’ but I have flatly refused. I’m dealing with my depression with alternative methods which is mostly working. I will never go down the med route again.
You are absolutely correct - the people are test subjects; guinea pigs. Drs only ‘know’ A) what the drug companies tell them & B) what only the latest test & research shows - which could change next week!
Thank you for your bravery & conviction to raise awareness. You & your lady are very admirable human beings. I wish you the very best & mostly, to find some relief from your painful prison. Bless you guys. 🦋

Thank you so much for watching and so glad you are making informed choices. It is sad what they know from the drug companies but sadly most aren't open to see what is in front of them as well.

Thank you for your courageous information video and I am profoundly sorry for what the lowdown filthy “legal” drug trade has done to you. The world is well and truly overdue for a *formal Global Apology* for the devastation and profundity of its crimes against all humanity and the planet generally. We are all overdue to easily access *genuine* - i.e. real - *Health Care* which therefore naturally includes holistic options and for a user friendly cost! The Global “healthcare” Industry has been rigged up otherwise - I have done no shortage of research on this... it is *NOT* about the caring folks. The “healthcare” industry is guilty of abusing this compound word and *pushing product for profit*. (I am one of the people *yet to heal* from such “healthcare” and as such I am on a government benefit - as truth-telling writers such as the award winning journalist into science and medicine Robert Whitaker speaks of). Professor Peter Gotzsche is one of the outstandingly courageous medical professionals who continue to speak out the truth and suffers the results of the *pathetically petulant* and *vengeful* drug industry. The multitude of individuals personally responsible for the insane and insatiable greed of the drug industry are *literally guilty* of *murder*. Such *insane* greed is the most *profound stupidity* and *ugliness*. In truth this type of *pathetic* “successful business model” is *cowardly* and is a *felony*. CEOs that are directly responsible for *knowingly pushing dangerous drugs* out onto the market are *way overdue* to be *slammed in jail*. They laugh at the billions of dollars fines and keep right on gluttonising because it “pays”. Since going through the indescribable torture of tardive akathisia myself I remain incredulous at what is considered “normal” and “successful”, when the manner in which far too many “executive” types and “professionals” are greedily devouring *extortionate* amounts of money - being the most extreme *low-grade* mentality that they are - and are directly *guilty* of immeasurable harm and *premature iatrogenic death*. My contempt for these types of disgusting *criminals* knows no bounds. Their ignorance is that of the most profoundly dangerous form. All my best wishes for healing to all of those who suffer from their crimes.
