I don't understand why we get diplopia here and if so how it measures the scotoma/ARC. The scotoma or ARC is there to take away diplopia in spite of a deviation. Can someone explain what happens? (More precise than just "it disrupts" - please unfold that) :)

Hmm... I have read and I think it works like this
1.Supression. Supression is not a fixed state. The less the straight eye is stimulated, the less the brain supresses the image from the deviating eye.
With enough of filter in front of the straight eye the supresion goes away and diplopia appears.
2.ARC. The deviating eye only uses the extrafoveal ARC fixation point during binocularity, during monocular vision of the deviating eye it will ignore the ARC and use the fovea. I suppose that with enough of filter in front of the straight eye the deviating eye switches to foveal fixation and diplopia occurs.
Correct me if I am wrong
