@@Carlos.Explains I love it! I've seen the movie, and I've had DMT experiences, and soon will be experiencing ayahuasca soon, and it seems all synchronicities are popping up more and more, and the book is just confirming all my other research and experiences, and I'm a little freaked out, but also have faith everything will be ok. God Bless!

The saint, sage, and guru are teachers by example. You are not meant to worship the teacher. You are not meant to try to use the teacher or any external object or subject as a channel to God. You are meant to learn from the teacher through the understanding that all beings are vehicles and expressions of the divine.
The saint or sage or guru is the idol, nothing less, and nothing more. This is what is meant by not worshiping idols. This is not to say that the idol must be destroyed if it is not to be worshiped (as has been interpreted by many monotheistic theologies). This is a misinterpretation. The idol is the form. You should not worship the form. Worship should be reserved for the divinity that inhabits the form; all form. Realizing the distinction is the difference between worshiping the idol and worshiping the divine. There may be 1000 idols around you in a circle, but when you direct your devotion to the divinity within all forms, there is no more distinction between the divine and its form.
By spending time contemplating on and expressing devotion to the example the idol represents, you gain insight into the common state, or what it was exactly that made these individual saints, sages, or gurus to others, and why their impact on humanity is so prominent, and for many, a continuous living experience long after they have left this world.

Concerning modulation of DMT levels in the body and what the cause is, I would like to propose that Patanjali already addressed this quite clearly in his writings. We know that breathwork and meditation techniques can induce spontaneous rises in levels of endogenous DMT as is evidenced by expert meditators who can modulate their consciousness in and out of DMT states at will. I would venture to propose there are eight attentional mechanisms within the organism that must be active to produce DMT endogenously:
      01- Disciplined Mind
Without having the discipline to sit still and to commit to discovering the truth, it is impossible to achieve. The mind must be trained to remain calm and to follow the instructions that come from direct awareness. If those instructions are not followed, the next steppingstone will not reveal itself.
      02- Regular Practice
It is all wonderfully philosophically engaging as a topic of discussion, but without committing to certain practices that you engage with as frequently as you can, then the possibility is not going to make itself available.
      03- Physical Posture
The basis of any experience is the body. How is the body now? Is it locked in place, or is it all over the place? How the physical body is kept, and in which position it is arranged have a significant impact on how we perceive to begin with. Without proper posture, there can be no clear perception of the experience, and it is colored with all sorts of imaginal symbols, like "aliens" or "gods" or other archetypes of the unconscious mind.
      04- Breathing Technique
There are many breathing techniques that are taught widely today, but perhaps the most scientific study of breathing was conducted by those who authored the Sanskrit language, as they developed the widest vocabulary for discussion the different kinds of breathing and their influences on the body. I highly recommend Swara Yoga: The Tantric Science of Brain Breathing as a deep resource on the topic of breathing and conscious states. There is much more to breathing than we tend to think, and our simplifications in the English language with words like "breathwork" and "breathing exercises" detract from the vast science of breathing already available, and the complex array of possible states that can be achieved.
      05- Sense Withdrawal
Learning to sit with your own mind without your body interrupting is another necessary skill. Breathing techniques are a facilitator for the possibility of sense withdrawal, as are exercises that bring attention to and away from the body in parts and as a whole. Practicing laying down with eyes closed and remaining awake and alert is a crucial step.
      06- Concentration
If you cannot bring your attention to your kidney, or your spleen, or your ribcage, how will you ever truly know any of them? How will you know if one is working well and the other is not? If your kidney is happy or unhappy? You won't, until something really bad happens. What if this phenomenon could be avoided? Concentration, a major technique of which is one-pointed awareness, is the key to opening up new layers of perception, such as the ability to perceive one's own internal organs and their current states. Even deeper concentration can lead to the ability to perceive the internal organs and states of other people. This is how healing is possible. The level of concentration of the individual is so one-pointed, the point can be placed along any coordinates on any spectrum in any possible dimension of freedom. This is crucial for navigating all spaces, including DMT space.
      07- Meditation
Dhyana, or what is inaccurately translated as meditation, is not any of the steps listed above, however, without mastering the previous 6 capabilities, meditation is not possible. Meditation is only possible when the mind is disciplined, when practice is regular, when physical posture is maintained, when breathing technique and rhythm are maintained, when the senses are withdrawn, and when there is perfect concentration. When these 6 are mastered, when you close your eyes, you are in meditation. When you open your eyes, you are in meditation. When you sleep, you are in meditation. It is only in this state that the DMT flows.
      08- Absorption
The final step is absorption into higher-dimensional representation. In the initial states, it may appear to you as "entities" on the other side of a chrysanthemum. While I will not dispute the possibility that these are independently existing creatures living in other dimensions of reality (electro-magnetic entities that benefit from extra spatial dimensions of freedom), it is also possible that they are symbolic representations created by the unconscious mind. In my view, it belittles our humanity to doubt that we are capable being so much more than we believe we can be. There is no manufacturer warrantee that comes with your body at birth with the disclaimer: "this is all you are and will ever be". It is entirely possible that these "entities" are simply representations of the Self. What the representations are is not the point, though. The visual representation is a distraction from what is really happening, while simultaneously acting as a key, somewhat like the illustration on your favorite tarot card.
When you are in a deep state of absorption, what is happening is unspeakable, unimaginable, but it wants you to know it, whatever it is. This is what has been referred to as the divine, the kingdom of heaven within. It is unfathomable, so it might come as flashes of inspiration, insight, and a deep sense of learning something profound about yourself and the world. It will often culminate in one of two experiences. Either a complete immersion in bright white light with an experience of ecstatic bliss that cannot be compared with any other experience, or a complete immersion in total darkness with an experience of ultimate peace and tranquility, unsullied by time and space.
Absorption can act as a guide that leads you to share your inner experience with others. Ultimately, the greatest gift is learning that all your insights and profound experiences reveal is that you know absolutely nothing about anything. That this universe was created by a force so great, it defies even our ability to ever know more than an insignificant fragment of the whole. And yet, even that sliver contains the possibility of bliss and tranquility. How beautiful absorption can be when you stop creating images! When you realize there is no center! Absorption is how we reach the peak of our evolution as a species! It is how we worship the divine in all!
