I learned a lot from watching this game. So many times, she could win pieces, but she was looking to checkmate at all costs. Beautiful checkmate at the end. Brilliant game.
@@rockmcdwayne1710 Yep, there were plenty of things she could have done in that game. I would have taken the pieces too, but she wanted the mate not the simplification. Perhaps Hans would have out played her in the simplified position.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but the point of the game is to win. I find that passing up several chances to deliver the crippling blow and just playing cat and mouse is insulting to your opponent.
When my cat catches a lizard, she doesn't bite off a leg or tail or head.... but terrorizes it for an hour with all its limbs intact, to prolong her hunt for sport. Finally when cornered without an inch to move anymore, she pounces. Eline is like my meow meow. 😊 oh the cheeky lil adrenaline junkie!
Brilliant. There was a royal fork(Ng4) but, she doesn't played. Best move was Rc5. She was just eyeing for the checkmate, not weakening the other side by capturing pieces. 👌
As you all know she had the king and queen forked for two moves, I’m screaming in my head “You have him forked, take the queen take the queen!!! Damn you should have taken the queen or is she just dominating him with a keep your queen it won’t matter anyway. What a stone cold killer…..
SWEEET...and you were So gracious by not forking his queen near the end saving him completely embarrassment. Instead, you got a nice middle-board check-mate!!! Congrads., FREE
I first heard about Hans Neiman when Magnus refused to play him. I am interested in his beginnings in chess and life. I guess that's what Wikipedia and Google are for
I think that mate is computer generated. I looked up the game in the database and it only goes as far as where she forked the rook and queen with the knight. He must have resigned there. The rest of the game looks too computeresque to be real, even for players of their level
@@danwilliams8626 I think you're correct. I've found a commentated recap of the game on TH-cam where the commentator says he resigned there at 19:54 into this video.
A possible answer to a number of questions raised is that she wanted a checkmate rather than win by winning material. "I wanted to bust him in the middle game" (a Fischer comment.) This is damn cheeky, if not arrogant, but this time she got away with it. It is debatable whether deliberately not playing the objectively best moves to get a checkmate is the best chess, but if you get away with it....
For those who never learn (or refuse to employ) defensive moves, I counted 5 undeveloping moves by Eline in the game...including 3 in a row early on. Of course, if all you do is play blitz/bullet, this sort of thing necessarily can easily be ignored. Eline didn't suffer at all making such moves. She patiently floated like a butterfly...till she got an opportunity to sting like a bee. Then refused to deliver available lethal venomous blows. Cuz why the hell not...when you're opponent refuses to hit resign.
Both wanted to troll each other...Against another opponent Hans would have resigned much earlier and she wanted to checkmate him with his Queen on board.
I'd say playful. She could have forked the kine and quen five times, but let him keep the queen so she could defeat him with a checkmate rather than a resign. Just having fun.
Once she didn't even take the free rook, and then several times didn't bother with the opportunity to get his queen, a couple times could have done a fork with the knight on the king and queen, and a few with the rook on the queen with the kind behind. I guess she preferred the challenge. Impressive.
Stockfish evaluates her moves as the most precise. She had a forced mate a long way out. Whether she calculated it right through, or just played according to general principles (knew it must have been there because of the superiority of her position) who knows?.
Das könnte eine Partie sein von meinem sehr verehrten Russischen Grossmeister STEINITZ !!!,,,,,,,Spiele Positionell und die Kombinationen kommen selbst ! ,,,,Bravo,,,!
Believe it or not, Stockfish reckons she was right not to take the pieces. She didn't always play the very best move (according to Stockfish), but she was always played at least the second or third best move. And Niemann didn't play all that badly either.
wow, lots of bad moves by both. Free knight at 25:04, no? Ok, I see. 25:31. Hans is just rage ending by pushing the pawns. He doesn't want to take the knight and is offering a free knight fork as a kind of suicide ending. No way she should have won making so many bad moves. Crazy ideas? just bad moves.

Wonderful

It's incomprehensible that Hans Niemann didn't resign long before the actual checkmate. He was completely lost many moves before it.
Maybe, but you don't get to grandmaster by resigning early . Lost positions can be turned into draws...

At 25.37, NG4 was a fork, would have been a great or a brilliant move, but all over accuracy of Eline was best :). Congratulations 👏🏻

Exactly. She missed a royal fork which wons the queen.also several chances to take the queen 😅

Take the rook on D6 instead of moving his King to H7.
Impressive and strategic planning. Very well played.

Chess speaks for itself!
Right!
I look it up before I wrote it as a comment... hehehe... I was sure somebody had made it!
Monster! She didn't want to do the fork, because she wants the mate.
@24:29, why not Ng4! ?
If she had play knight g4 at 24:33 the game was over, she take the queen and finish the game with her queen an her rook left.
Great moves, great game. Even let him keep his Queen.
His name is Niemann not neimann
When they don't get your name right, there's still a way to go. Joke aside, Bison blundered this one. Fun game to watch.
