Absolutely gorgeous video and just what I needed to see today. Perfect mix of stunning, often ethereal, scenery alongside your narration of local culture. I loved how peaceful it all looked, and the feel of delicious solitude there. The scenery has such a strong character and presence and you capture it so well. I can only assume the mountain goddess is very pleased with you for presenting her mountain so beautifully! May she take good care of you whilst you are in her midst. Thanks for taking us along with you on this hike. Loved it.
Hi Quinlan, absolutely stunning scenery and such a peaceful area to enjoy. Thank you for sharing this excellent video with everyone. Safe travels and best wishes to you 🏴🇺🇸🇯🇵
Such a perfect day in a winter wonderland! I live down in Miyazaki and videos like these (and my recent trip to Myoko) really make me want to spend more time up north. The serenity and beauty of locations like this is so soothing to my soul❤❤
what a great day. I am kinda jealous now :D I really do appretiate all those story you have to tell, its like listening to an old friend over a fire pit 😊
Just stunning! Maybe the snow was extra glittery that day, it looks amazing! And it must be so quiet. From what I know most birds are quite silent in winter anyway but now I do wonder at which point you'll stop hearing them. What an incredible terrain to survive in.
Hey Quinlan, beautiful video and great to see you embracing the skiing again! I was recently at Appi Kogen with my family and we visited Morioka a few times with our hire car - loved visiting the castle park and wandering the streets of your neighbourhood. Keep up the fantastic videos 👌
A nice winter mountain climb. As you mentioned a headmount for hands-free camera use, could the drone be set to follow you? 4:53 looks like a frozen Ent on the left.
Such and amazing video and such natural beauty. Do you backcountry ski by yourself? Isn't it dangerous to do this by yourself, what if there is an avalanche?
What gorgeous views! The white frozen trees were absolutely stunning! Sunscreen is a must, not only for good health, but it's also probably a contributing factor to why you look like a man in his early 30's.
Wow! Looks amazing... I can't believe how sculpted the snow looked from the wind. We currently have the most snow we've had in almost two years... About one cm! 😅 But it did glisten lile diamonds yesterday 😊. Question: what type of skis did you use for this trip? Were they the kimd that has skims on the bottom?
Yes, I have really wide Atomic powder skis. I put skins on for the climb up, and have a binding on the skis that releases my heel for the hike up. Then I take off the skins and lock my heel in place for the ride down.
Awesome!! I wonder if you'd take a request from a fellow Madtown Wisconsinite 😅 would you show the process of going to a public ice skating rink in Japan? I really love figure skating and would love to practice it in Japan whenever I end up moving there (my long-term plan currently). Thank you for your cool and informative videos!!
Hello! There are two ice skating arenas in Morioka, but I basically never go there. I think it's pretty simple to just pay admission and rent skates, but I'll think about that! And hello fellow Wisconsinite!
you are getting much more comfortable with ledges it seems :) look at you just calling it a pain in the butt if you fall lol XD Also these shades with that wonderful wonderful blue skies...they are almost as blue as the sky! Wow wow wow All those wonderful snowy shots :O We had so little snow this winter. Only like two weeks so far! This is just so beautiful :( lol I should move to like..hokkaido. The Mateki? Bear-hunters ...it is a shame that yet another tradition is fading :( it's wild that you can no longer live of it eh...
Oh dear, how many times did you had to go back to pick up the camera or to the side of the track to get another angle for these shots❓I guess at the end you took the trip twice (or four times 🤔😳) 🧐🤭😉😁😂🤣(ups totally forgot that downhill is skiing 🎿 💨😲🤣
For most of my hiking videos I'm alone, and do walk back and forth A LOT. And to be fair, I also backtracked a lot to pick up my camera on this excursion. BUT - I did go with a friend. I try not to every SKI alone, as there are so many accidents that can happen. I always carry a beacon, probe, and shovel. For that to be meaningful, you sort of have to go with another person or two.
It's another hour or so to the summit. You can see my GPX data here: yamap.com/activities/29264902 (Took me longer that day because I flew the drone before I went up to the summit.)
It took 4 hours and 23 minutes to get to the top, but that includes food breaks and a good 20 minutes flying the drone, etc. Getting down only about 45 minutes total.
Quite picturesque!
Winter looks so beautiful especially on a sunny day.
It really is!

Thanks for coming!
Your winter videos are my favorites, so beautiful! Thank you for taking us with you on these adventures!

Such a nice video. Probably wouldn't've noticed the lack of skiing until you mentioned it.
Watching this in preparation to go out shoveling myself - thank you for the views, the fresh snow on the ridge can't be beat ❄️

It is really soothing to be up in these remote areas with nothing but snowy mountains in every direction.
what a great day. I am kinda jealous now :D I really do appretiate all those story you have to tell, its like listening to an old friend over a fire pit 😊

Yeah, the birds are mostly quiet, though you do see spotted nutcrackers up in tree tops near the edge of the tree line!

Magic.
Such amazing views as always Quinlan san!!! Also I feel like you hike so much more by setting the camera up then walking back to get it.
Glad you liked it! Yeah, I do walk back and forth a lot...
@GoNorthJapan need a assistant!?!?!
Steller footage and hike buddy!
You remember how good the weather was that day!
Such and amazing video and such natural beauty. Do you backcountry ski by yourself? Isn't it dangerous to do this by yourself, what if there is an avalanche?

So glad to hear that! Hope you guys have a great trip!!

The Matagi! Yes, though there are some young people picking up the reins now too! Some good news there.
Or did the trip with a friend ... (which is the safe way to do back country travel as well)

Amazing sights oon that day. How much further is it from the cabin to the summit?

That winter hike to Akita Komagatake was *_so_* beautiful... Food for the soul, thanks for sharing Quinlan Σ(☉.̫☉)
