Not sure what to do with mutate right now. It looks like an alright mechanic, but it also looks like a good way to lose a stack of cards (Vraska's Contempt will take it out most handily). I really like the art of the Nissa included in this deck, the colors are decently vibrant without being overbearing. Propaganda's a good card to include in many decks. An order I got today included a Tempest version of it. It was a good surprise since I only bought the lot for the Slivers and a Lotus Petal.
The hydras help when using Zaxara as commander, but even when using Otrimi mutating on top of a hydra keeps the counters so it’s a good way to beef up Otrimi to trample in with extra commander damage. I agree there are better options but it does help a bit.
@@Earthworm_Zim ok here's the thing and I think this is a big problem with precons. They tend to put 3 commanders with 3 different themes and mash it into a deck. That makes it so that you can't do what any of the commanders are doing properly. I'm not buying the deck to play with hydras I'm buying the deck to play with the mutate mechanic. The second problem is that there is no interaction nothing to throw your opponents off. You need that kind of thing in a game of commander. I think this product has good intentions giving the buyer options but I wouldn't consider this particular deck and others playable out of the box. If they did something like what they did with the 2015 decks and gave a central theme(for example meren was graveyard) and had the 2 other choice commanders have graveyard synergy then the whole deck is based around that theme. You wouldn't have a bunch of different subthemes and confusing new players
@@shikaku_ oh I don’t disagree with you at all in that regard. By including three commanders the decks lose focus for sure. Really the other commanders only loosely work with Otrimi since mutating on hydras has minor synergy and then mutating on the unblockable whale wolf has good synergy, but when switching to any of the other two it falls apart fast. The deck would definitely be better once stripped of hydra focus and replaced with counter spells/evasive creatures/infect put in their place. Another issue with this precon in particular is that there’s only one set with mutate so that mechanic lacks the depth to go all in unfortunately -_-
@@Earthworm_Zim there's 22 mutate creatures including the commander thats plenty. I'd have created some cards that maybe double the mutate triggers or something chaotic like that. And topped it off with a few more removal spells and counter magic with fierce guardianship I think every one of those decks that had blue should have had that card not just the jeskai one.

Timeless Wisdom is my main commander deck and its SO fun when you put a Tefiri, Timebender in your deck
I would say timeless wisdom is definitely the strongest of the precons, but this is the one I'm most looking forward to playing with
I agree I just don't want another jeskai cycling deck I already play one in standard but I might buy it anyway tho

Theres no countermagic or protection to protect against removal... it also focuses too heavily on the hydra subtheme
