It made Holland very angry and he decided he should include that scene. It did get rated mature because of it.
Idk if you already know this but Neverland (his debut) was his way of coming out to his family. He said and talked with his parents after and they weren’t quite as happy first but it seems that they understood. He has talked about being sooo nerve wrecked as it came out because of that too. I started following him a little before his debut, I remember crying when I heard it. He has been such a big support for me. He helped me except myself. I remember when I came out to my mom 2 years ago. I’m not afraid had been released and that was the last song I heard before I came out to my mom. (I had driven with her in the car to get food and told her while we waited for the food). I remember thanking Holland in my head, thanking him for writing that song. Loved you better, hit me hard when it came out, I could relate to it so much. I’m forever thankful for his kind words, his amazing songs, his truthful way of speaking and I love him. He help me be myself, tho I still have lots of problems, I’m proud to say that I’m gay (and possibly non-binary 😅) P.s I forgot to say this, but he had a big backlash from the kiss he did in Neverland so instead of no kisses, he decided to go all out. Since his song would get rated 19+ anyway
I didn't mean to make you so emotional! Holland has given me so much hope as a queer Asian person, he resonates on so many levels for me. "Loved You Better" was the one that got me because I love that he's not talking to someone else, he's talking to himself, wishing he had treated and loved himself better. That's such a powerful message, especially in the world of pop music. I'm so glad though that you enjoyed the videos - I also hope he puts out more and more because he deserves all the success and love!

4:30 exactly, there was a trailer released recently for a lesbian christmas movie coming out soon on hulu and i nearly cried because i feel like christmas movies are such a big thing and i felt the exact same way when neverland first came out because as a young lgbt person, growing up without representation really made me feel like an outcast just because there wasn’t anyone like me on tv in movies or in music videos
Anda has a song called Touch, and while the lyrics aren't explicit, the mv is quite obviously pushing towards the more lgbtq+ side, with there only being girls in it, Anda holding a lily flower (which represents girls love in eastern countries), and in the beginning the nails of some of the girls are the colors of the lesbian flag. I'm also going to say its VERY suggestive, just as a heads up.

'I'm So Afraid' was and is one of the most meaningful songs of his to me. it was released during a time when i was very depressed and it just HITS. ugh, i love him. he's so sweet. i hope he's taking care of himself and that we'll soon hear new music
What you said about the power of seeing yourself represented- god, its so real. While of course its touching and inspiring to see people openly embrace parts of themselves that are so rejected and suppressed, as a queer person myself its a lot more personal than that. It isn't just seeing someone outside myself be inspiring in a way I happen to relate to, it feels like a direct communication TO -me-. When a queer artist offers this kind of representation, its not just saying 'this is me', its also telling all of us who share this experience that WE ARE SEEN. It really hits me when I find myself so deeply and intensely affected by even something small like a music video how incredibly used to being invisible I am, how rare it truly is to be affirmed in the public eye not as performative marketing but as a wholehearted statement - we exist, we are human, we love and ARE loved - and all of this isn't just something to be defended and proven, but something to be celebrated as beautiful and profound because it is! I don't have to know Holland to appreciate and respect him immensely, as someone who also knows how much strength and grace it takes to rise under the pressures of the surrounding culture in favor of becoming a beacon of hope and self-acceptance. I'm sooo glad to see a reaction to this from someone else who ///gets/// it.

When you talked about specific representation to hit you hard and for me it was Sleeq's performance on Good Girl "Here I go" because she talks about genderqueer, non-binary and AIQ part of the acronym that often gets forgotten and the one I am part of as an agender non-binary asexual person! I cried when I watched her performance for the first time and that was also my introduction to her and her music!
