  • The Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg walk or hike is one of the most popular trails in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. It offers breathtaking views of both the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the majestic mountain peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.
The starting point of this hike is the Männlichen Panorama Trail sign post. The hike is 4.5 kilometers to Kleine Scheidegg from the post. From the Männlichen plateau, we followed a trail in a southerly direction. We hiked along the eastern side of the Mt Tschuggen and when we finally reach the Honegg picnic ground, a right turn to Mt Lauberhorn is close by. We then followed a U shaped trail at the side of Mt Lauberhorn. The Kleine Scheidegg pass is soon reached from there.
A beginner will be able to do this hike. You need to have a reasonable level of fitness though to do this hike. Take your time and bring water and snacks. Rest if needed. There are a few stops you can do in the trail.
How to get there from Interlaken Ost station to Mannlichen
Take the train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen. From Lauterbrunnen, take the train to Wegen to hop on the Wengen - Männlichen cable car.

We truly enjoyed this hike. We recommend to start from Männlichen. This way the hike is downhill and the mountain peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is always in front of you. The elevation loss is also gradual so it will be an easy hike. Happy hiking!🙂

@@KC-mo2xp On average around two hours but depends on your hiking experience. For us, we did a leisurely walk and did it in three hours. 😃

Thanks for your video. Is there anywhere along the hike to fill up your water bottle or go to the bathroom? I am thinking there is not. I really wanted to do this hike, we are in our 70"s, just wondering if we can do it.

@beachmom19 There is no area in the hike to fill up your water bottle. We did see a portable toilet in Picknickplatz in Honegg, but did not use it. What we did was to fill our water bottle at the Mannlichen Berghaus and go to the bathroom before starting the hike. And did the same when we reached the Grindelwaldblick restaurant near Kleine Scheidegg. We saw a handful of people who are maybe in their 60s or 70s doing the hike. See 3:09 in the video for example. She brought a walking stick with her to steady her as the gravel path can be sometimes tricky to walk on. We hope this information helps you in your decision. Happy travels! ❤

May I know when was the date ?

We did this on the last Sunday of September last year. Temperatures were 5 - 17 degrees Celsius. Area is still green but with a dusting of snow in the paths as the winter season was about to start in a month or so.

How long does it take in total for the hike ?

On average, this close to 5km hike will probably take 2 hours to complete. Or if you are a seasoned hiker, probably less than that. It is mostly downhill trail. However, it took us around 3 hours to finish it with stopping to rest, drink and eat and enjoying the views and filming along the way. It is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace as some of the views will take your breath away. Overall, for us it was a moderately challenging hike and the views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau for most of the hike was the added bonus.
