Tatsulok is a pretty socio-politically charged song. Tatsulok means triangle. The chorus says, as long as there's a triangle and they're on top, the struggle will never end (habang may tatsulok at sila ang nasa tuktok, hindi matatapos itong gulo)

    • @crisramos940

Narda is the mortal identity of a Superhero called "Darna", which is written and conceptualized in the 1930's and published in the 40's. The comic author, Mars Ravelo, said that the superhero is actually inspired by Superman. Basically, she's his female counterpart. Most people compare her to Wonderwoman because she's the most similar hero from her.
Edit: Currently, the new generation Darna is being aired, and already in its first week today. The celebrity who plays the role is Jane De Leon, which is a very refreshing artist. Hope you'd be interested in watching it on your own time.

Dadalhin is my favorite Regine and Ogie song. The lyrics are so heartbreaking and devastating, and Regine fully understands the meaning of the song. Her choices fit perfectly with the lyrics. Her singing choice sounds like a plea or a cry which is exactly what the lyrics are trying to say.

Tagalog is very consonant rich and, as you said, glottal that it gives texture to songs like beatbox to acapellas. I started feeling the influence of alternative rock in the mid 90s with the Eraserheads and Parokya ni Edgar, almost the same time as Alanis Morissette started hitting the airwaves. Kitchie Nadal was of another level vocally and lyrically back then. Still am a fan. San Miguel Beer and Red Horse are the famous brands of beer here. And the song "Beer" reminds me of the Manila Sound era of music from the 70s up 'til early 80s which i think merits your reaction. 😎

Grew up listening to songs from Hale, Eraserheads, Rivermaya, Orange & lemon, Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Callalily, 6cyclemind, Sponge Cola, Silent Sanctuary, MYMP, Sugarfree, APO Hiking Society, Siakol. It's an era where songs are properly written and most likely talk about societal issues and life growing up in the Philippines. You can barely fetch wisdom from songs written these days and most likely glorify being miserable that set the new generation into depression. But surely there are new band/artists these days who still value good song writing and really have a good intent to even alleviate our daily misery through music.

Tatsulok (Triangle/pyramid) was written during the dark period of the Phillipines when our country was under a tyrant.
It talks about kids/ teens getting desaparecidos /kidnapped by government forces/ wrongfully accused of being a communist and extrajudiciarily killed(murdered)/ vilified. It also talks about social inequality where politicians and their capitalist cronies can get away with human rights abuses and plunder because they can afford justice and law enforcement.
This song had even been "red tagged" before it was popularized by bamboos cover decades later.

Efra's interpretation of "Alam mo ba ang lasa ng beer mo?" is actually very similar to what it actually means which is "Do you know the taste of your beer". Keep it up guys!

NARDA is actually an ode to DARNA, a superhero in the Philippine literary pop culture . “Narda” is “Darna’s” ordinary girl alter ego.

You guys should react to Bands with Female vocalist in the Philippines. Kitchie Nadal used to be a vocalist of the band mojofly before she went solo. Should also check out bands like:
    Moonstar88 - Sulat or Torete
Barbie's Cradle (Barbie Almabis the vocalist was a former vocalist of the band Hungry Young Poets) - Tabing Ilog
Mojofly - Another Day or Akap
    Imago - Sundo
Paramita - Huling (the vocal is the drummer)
Also check out the band Sandwich with their song Sugod, one of the member Raymund Marasigan is from Eraserheads.
They are the female vocalist bands that hailed during late 90's to early 2000's era.

The part where Idol PH contestants only had like 24 hours to prepare in the middle rounds is something they aired on TV. It's part of the challenge. The judges mentioned it when they were explaining the middle rounds.

Hey, guys! Thanks for this; i am literally singing along while watching 😊...if u want to experience karaoke, you dont need the bulky machines, there is a karaoke microphone with memory cards for the songs, which you can link to your digital tv so you see the lyrics on screen --maybe u can ask a filipino store if they sell one 😊

I have something for you guys to react. "With a smile (live) by The Eraserheads" . The Eraserheads was the biggest band here in the PH during the 90's. This particular song was created and dedicated to children with terminal illness, and or to the people that can relate because it's very relatable. Thank you for your time and please don't stop making interesting videos!

Beer was so, so popular, that even my 4-5 years old brother in 2008 who didn't know how to read the lyrics yet, already memorized this song in his head and was very in tune while singing this in karaoke during the "inuman" session of our father and our neighbors' fathers. Hahaha

I just realized how heartbreaking Dadalhin actually is 🥲 It's basically about a man's broken promises and how she really naively believed.
    (Rough trans)
Ang hapdi din nitong pag-ibig - *This love is also painful*
Umasa pa sa sinabi mong - *Because I really believed when you said*
Dadalhin kita sa 'king palasyo - *"I'll bring you to my castle"*
Dadalhin hanggang langit ay manibago - *"Hold you until even the heavens change"*
Ang lahat ng ito'y pinangako mo - *All of this you promised*
Dadalhin lang pala ng hangin ang pangarap ko - *Turns out that dream of mine will only vanish with the wind* 🥲

You've heard of 'Same Ground' because of Moira and 4 of Spades cover up in Wish too, its just that their take of the same is really unique and catchy than the one Kitchie did in this video and its really short because they tried to mash up two songs in same take which is 'Same ground' and 'Bulong'.

about NARDA: We have our version of wonder woman... she's called DARNA... and her average woman name (if Superman is Clark, Darna is...)is NARDA. So the song is, he's in love with a superhero. Will she save him if he's at risk? So he can feel her or be with her again
