@3:56 Will Items and Cargo on Planets be in a visible Storehouse or will they "disappear" somewhere? @7:36 Are there any plans on cargo loading on the bigger ships such as the Hull series of ships and is the loading at a space station, or even planetary going to be automatic or will we have a specialized small cargo loading ships similar to the Argo to load manually if we choose to. @12:00 Can you talk at all about what is in store for the Salvage profession? Will it involve carving up ships for scrap (or resources in the repair profession), specifically seeking out functionality of expensive parts of derelict ships, or some combination of those? Will this be like mining and require good scanning to effectively find salvageable ships and stations? @16:30 In both cargo running and mining, what types of hazards can we expect? Understandably there will be the threat of piurates, but what other dangers will we run into, i.e., hitting a combustible methane vent while mining, or the consequences of a container malfunction during transport? @23:45 With 2.6 and 2.6.1 Star Marine has started to introduce destructable props in the game. Shattering glass, explosive barrels and ect. The most recent monthly report mentioned that the team was looking to add more props and items that can be destroyed in the game. Presumably this work will carry into the Persistant Universe. Have you put any thought into how destroyed props will be restored in the Persistant Uninverse? Example being, if a player could shatter the glass windows in Port Olisar, how would the game "reset" to a point where the windows are replaced. @28:45 Regarding cargo hauling, can you clairify how the loading and unload of ships will work at both the initial launch of the cargo syste, and what the long-term vision of the cargo system will be? There has been some confusion regarding manual loading/unlaoding with all the cool logistics that presents (not to mention all of the maglev containers and hand jacks!) @37:50 Will we be able to move between professions fluidly, or will we have to re-qualifty for a profession if we decide to switch to something else? @40:10 With the recent progress update on the Prospector, is it safe to assume that we will have ship based mining to some degree with the launch of 3.0? @43:25 To effectively perform a job, will we need to qualift for them beforehand, like earning a certain amount of rep, or will it be as easy to get started as having the right kind of ship? @45:28 Will there be an autopilot traveling from Point A to Z that will allow me to get up and move around?
Test Squadron hmm I find it he talks a lot but says little. He could simplify answers into short sentences. Most of the time you know what he will say next before he says it. Or is just me? 🤔
Thanks for the intel guys! That was a great vid. My opinion: I don´t care about prod. schedules or if stuff is coming soon or not. I was backing this because I know that you will put all your love for pc games in this and try to realize things which were believed to be impossible to unite in one game - so release date; "when it´s done" is very ok for me - The longer we need to wait for stuff, the more content we´ll have and the more quality and complexity this content will have. Thats worth waiting. And thumbs up for the guys here who make people realize that AAA titles can take up to a decade to be fully developed and that it only appears to be a torturing long time to wait for the updates on SC because we´ve been able to participate since the very beginning. The team is doing an awesome job. One love guys!
Given those huge engines on the sides it seems like a possibility :) An additional exception appears to be the Vanduul ships like the Driller* which, according to the Holiday livestream footage, can hover just over the planet surface (might be a low-gravity world though). * (which is like 2-3x the size of the Bengal in terms of volume)
Ladies and gentleman, Tony "Y'know" Zurovec. He may be tough to listen to at times, but I feel like he's one of the few front facing devs actually focused on the details of the gameplay mechanics - how we're actually going to be playing this game. Ships are stunning and awesome, so are the characters and fps weapons, environments, etc. But it seems like Tony always stresses what we will get to do with all of these assets, rather than the fact that these assets exist. I appreciate that.
While I like how direct Chris is, I love Tony's excitement for things. I like it when he goes on a bit of a tangent and shares things a bit outside of the question asked. I could listen to him talk about Star Citizen all day. :)
I love Tony Zurovec's hype to pour out information about the future of Star Citizen. Its always so fun to discuss ideas about what things we could potentially see! Can't wait for 3.0 and beyond! So excited!!!
I love watching these two talk. They both look at each other like they know more than the other and are kinda of softly battling to talk. And while Chris is the boss, Tony seems to have a hella good conceptual mind of combining game play advancements and development capabilities. Chris' vision and Tony's implementation I think will make for a mind blowing game ultimately imo.
Really epic show. I am loving the approach to professions, particularly the reputation system and how it interacts with the missions you may have access too.
Something about Tony. He's really grown on me over the last couple of years. I have developed a high level of confidence in him, and at the same time he promotes a relaxed and entertaining environment. Good stuff.
You should add the option for a Camera ship that can follow you. Then add the option to watch what it recorded, with the option of saving it. A third option would be a live-feed of your camera ship into a small window on your display, or onto an external display. This can be extremely useful for your following presentations, for streamers, and for gamers.
Watching them discuss these questions was amazing, it was like watching a dream unravel. I can't wait for this game to come out completely. Thanks to all the backers and the developers for this, this is truly an amazingly ambitious project and am proud to have been a part of it. Thanks for being so transparent Chris Roberts and the entire staff of the Star Citizen dream! P.S. Can I fly my Polaris now? :P
You mentioned NPC cleaning up starport damage...would be interesting if these types of events actually triggered player missions. Transport missions to bring in replacement parts...salvage missions to recover resources from destroyed habitats....Medical missions to heal civilians....repair missions to repair buildings....I really like the emergent gameplay possibilities
You guys need to get in there and VOTE. Question number 9 is something that actually has been written up! Question #4 & #3 is also a known answer. The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the red zone.
I really love how this virtual universe and the logic driving it shows us so much about the workings of our own world. The scale of it all is also quite awe-inspiring though its projected to be more of a Laniakea supercluster than an actual universe at this point, but it really does a lot in giving this surreal feeling and reminding us of our insignificance and at the same time showing how lives in space could turn out, beyond the confines of our solar system.
I've noticed quite a few references lately to making sure Star Citizen is "fun." I'm happy to hear that, though it remains to be seen how well the developer's definition of fun aligns with that of the player community. I want the game to be fun and interesting, but I hope we won't be subjected to constant interdiction by NPC pirates, like a certain other space game I could name. The scenarios presented in this video, of routine repairs, scanning interesting locations, etc., rather than near constant combat, sounds much more interesting and far closer to real life. Any event that happens too often would become a grind, so the wider the variety, the better.
One concern I have is that when these "events" pull you out of quantum drive to spice up that half an hour journey, happen for the 5th time, it will start to feel really forced. So I think its okay to sometimes just spend 30 minutes travelling, it will really give a sense of scale, and travelling long distances will need to be carefully thought out. One thing you could give us to spice up the travel without having to do something related to the ship is give us some kind of "rubik's cube". Maybe we find an alien artifact, and then we can spend the time between travels trying to crack its code, some kind of space sudoku if you will
The Great Sauron hopefully i can stand up fromthe pilot seat and do stuff in my ship, like repairing and stuff. Or checking emails or looking at the cargo, lokking at the starmap, etc.
Pretty sure these events are going to actually be locations for the most part, it's not going to be like random encounters where you're frequently interrupted by things you had no way to predict in advance. Logically most of these events will happen in high traffic areas and around visible stellar objects so if you wanted to avoid them you'd just plot a random course through empty space.
You guys really tend to say "you know" a lot. Just something I noticed. Awesome video, by the way! Really gets me excited about all these new features coming up!
Great video CIG. I absolutely love the transparency. You let us see into the heart of your developement process like no one has ever done before. Take some advice though CIG. All the MMO's I predicted going free to play, losing most of their intial players did. The reason Wow is so profitable and many others are not is really simple. 3 words. Stuff to do. If there is a lot to do in the starting zone and many other places, you will keep your players, they wont go elsewhere. Also dont leave PvE players at the mercy of PvP Griefers. Make a SAFE MODE, like GTA Online. This prevents us from harming other players or their vehicles / ships. And others cant harm us our vehicles / ships. Some people prefer missions and trading over combat. Also let us buy in game UEC with real money, people that work full time need this to keep up with full time players. Eve and GTA:O both make all their money from Shark Cards / Plex.
does anyone get the feeling that think despite Chris's immense admiration for Tony he has a tough time speaking with him because of Tony's immense exposition?
It's hilarious (and ironic) that Chris, at least in this setting, is the person that has to bring Tony back to reality. AKA what I wish other people did to Chris back when 10 for the Chairman was a regular thing lol.
Is this "Ten For The Chairman" or "Ten From The Chairman" ? :D Interesting, informative video. Looking forward to seeing the ideas explained herein implemented into the actual game.
I would like to clarify a distinction between Blockade Running and Smuggling. Loading a lot of supplies, and trying to bypass a blockade. Or well hidden stocks in your ship..
It worries me that every answer is "Yes, yes and yes. it has that thing you asked about, that thing too, and even more".... i get no man's sky flashbacks.
It's still so awesome to see the CEO (?)/ lead designer (?) of a game, love PC games as much as I do. Not to mention the specific genera. It gives me hope that there are still development companies that actually love the products they make, and aren't just there to get as many sales as possible *cough* EA/DICE *cough*. I don't care that I'll probably be in college by the time Star Citizen comes out, I can, and will, wait.
Enjoyed the video! I really want to see how bounty hunting/assassin techniques will work in SC. I also hope you can shoot weapons in cites (not planning to blow up a city) and have serious consequences if the authorities find you. Imagine being an assassin and tracking your target to Terra Prime for example. You land on the outskirts or on a landing pad, get to an isolated spot (like on top of a building of something), see your target, shoot him but miss, then proceed on a foot chase throughout the city avoiding authorities. Finally you get him, but the authorities are alerted and you have to escape. If the weather was poor, new challenges! I took it too far lol. I'm a HUGE fan of Star Wars especially TCW, since my idea of bounty hunting (above) came from that show. Like of discuss below on your thoughts :)
Well, sure, that will be part of the game as one of the professions available. The only reasons you can't do it right now, is because there are no consequences to your actions (no AI to hunt YOU) and the mechanics aren't yet complete for that kind of game play. So for now, shooting is disabled in certain areas until all the mechanics are in and working for that kind of game play.
Tamer Blur What most of the people didn't realize is that basically every game have a long development cycle but they are not being announced at the early stage of development like star citizen because they don't have to raise money from the public so that causes the misconception that star citizen takes a long time to develop
its 2019 , where the f*ck are professions ? Where are salvaging ships ? Maybe you need a bit more money , to make AMAZING salvaging that was never done before ? Maybe you have a new ship ? How about "Salvage EDITION sale ? Warbond of course !
Sorry I'm a noob, but what does "persistent universe" mean in this context? Is it a term used solely within Star Citizen as a game or can it be used elsewhere? I did some quick googling without any luck
It means changes that are made persist. If you change the color of your ship, if you change jackets, if a space station is destroyed. IDK if you've ever played World of Warcraft, but there is this Night Elf village that "comes under attack" while you're performing quests there. If you come back as another character later, it's the same as it was and you do it all over again. The difference between that and a "Persistent Universe" is the village would only get attacked the one time and it would remain as it was unless 1) it was completely destroyed or 2) actively rebuilt.
The problem is some of the questions most voted on especially the most upvoted question have been answered before. Maybe the problem is that people need to do some research before adding a question or upvoting them.
I just realized something, Tony Zurovec might be the only person in the world who can be more verbose than Chris Roberts when talking about game development than Chris Roberts. Chris actually has to keep Tony on track when answering the questions, usually it's Chris going on and on...;)

@36:43 - Why Star Citizen has a long development cycle (spoiler: we will win more in the long run).
Does anyone know how many characters we can create? or is it based only one per account?

You are awesome thankyou.
This is a real treat having Tony Zurovec answer questions!
Test Squadron agreeeed! Very informative guy.
you know
Beast Squadron!
absolutely! he tangents, but only in ways that give us more information and understanding of the professions. I could kiss him
Test Squadron hmm I find it he talks a lot but says little. He could simplify answers into short sentences. Most of the time you know what he will say next before he says it. Or is just me? 🤔
You know Tony is gonna talk like a champ when it's a 50 minute video for 10 questions. I love it!

The Whizkid well said
Yes well said. in a few years when this game is ready to play I hope it be up to the most modern gaming venu, VR or whatever is most popular.
"My opinion: I don´t care about prod. schedules or if stuff is coming soon or not."
Good thing they don't either.
4:53 tried to slip out a silent one and it was shockingly louder than you thought?
I love the fact that large ships won't be able to land on planets and that the unloading of cargo will be an actual time consuming, tangible thing.
Time for get coffee :D
Depending on the definition of "large". The Carrack is pretty large and can land on planets.
Jon 93
Large as in super industrial/high volume/high production large. The Reclaimers and Hull D's and E's type of large.
Though I just read somewhere that it is yet to be decided whether the reclaimer can land on planets
Given those huge engines on the sides it seems like a possibility :)
An additional exception appears to be the Vanduul ships like the Driller* which, according to the Holiday livestream footage, can hover just over the planet surface (might be a low-gravity world though).

Chris and Tony in the same room makes for some awesome stuff, moreee please! :D
Very good 10 for Chairman. Good to see Chris and Tony together.
Wow what a great 10 for the chairmen, i love the new approach to answering questions, every minutes was fascinating to listen to!
While I like how direct Chris is, I love Tony's excitement for things. I like it when he goes on a bit of a tangent and shares things a bit outside of the question asked. I could listen to him talk about Star Citizen all day. :)

Grab your popcorn for this one...
I love when Tony Zurovec is on. He says a lot and you can tell he's excited about what they're doing.
thank you for bringing 10 for the chairman and thank you for star citizen
Great video guys! Thanks for the update!
I love watching these two talk. They both look at each other like they know more than the other and are kinda of softly battling to talk. 40:53 Chris shuts the other guy down when he talks about the goals of the 3.0+ patches
Well they have to save some stuff for the next 10 for the Chairman. :p
I've rewound so many parts of this episode. Great show Chris. Tony should be on more often.
Omg he said Nostromo. It's why I bought the Reclaimer.
Thanks for the subtitles, they really are useful sometimes for a non-english speaker.
Tony Zurovec and CR talking real stuff about the Verse is always great! +42
It´s always funny watching Tony and Chris trying to talk over eachother. Facial expressions on both...priceless :D
Thank you Chris and Tony!!! Great episode and I hope we'll see more soon :)
Thumbs up and I love Spectrum btw.
Good stuff.
That was a great 10 for the chairman!!!! really look forward to these. Learn more useful info than all other sources combined. Thanks!!!
You should add the option for a Camera ship that can follow you. Then add the option to watch what it recorded, with the option of saving it. A third option would be a live-feed of your camera ship into a small window on your display, or onto an external display. This can be extremely useful for your following presentations, for streamers, and for gamers.
jesse fisch-r great idea
Great to have a new episode of 10 for the Chairman! :)
Oh yea baby! Chris AND Tony is the house!
Your welcome...and No
Ohhh yeeeaah this stuff sounds great. Really looking forward to seeing the excellent progress you guys are making. You guys are awesome!
For the first four minutes I was reminded of the Monty Python skit, "Man who talks in a round about way."
loving the new format! more like this please!
Whats new? Lol 10 for the chair man has been around for 1 or 2 years.
17:52 What is THAT?
A STAR
Em92 A star?
I wish we had something like that with Chris yet, at least monthly if not weekly
I love the "You know" guest XD. A lot of good news !!! Can't wait for realease!!!
Really great info and format!
I've no idea how they got Billy Cyrus on the team but I really like how excited he is. I hope he'll be included in these in the future :)
Tony is here. This is gonna be a good one.
You mentioned NPC cleaning up starport damage...would be interesting if these types of events actually triggered player missions. Transport missions to bring in replacement parts...salvage missions to recover resources from destroyed habitats....Medical missions to heal civilians....repair missions to repair buildings....I really like the emergent gameplay possibilities
i hope so :D
Andrew Hayford that's been stated
Gotta love Tony. So much knowledge and passion hidden under that hairdo!
You guys need to get in there and VOTE. Question number 9 is something that actually has been written up! Question #4 & #3 is also a known answer.
The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the red zone.
Carrack in the back ground this is a sign !!!
it wont be in 3.0 though
Some says it's for 3.2
it's programed to be in 3.2, i thinks and hope so
GreeFine yeah Im not sure the exact release estimate but they are prioritizing cargo and mining ships to be ready for 3.0
Yes, it means someone has made an art.
Absolutely love the sound of travel taking time and things to do whilst travelling!
I love the ship component degradation conversation at the 20 minute (or so) mark
I really love how this virtual universe and the logic driving it shows us so much about the workings of our own world. where do we go to ask a question in ask for the chairman? I just cant find it in the star citizen website.

#1 is what I came for. Good fkn job and TY. I look forward to autopilot.
good questions and answers. hope 3.0 comes out soon.
Tony advanced so much, he can say "you know" and something else at the same time!
Tony 'u know' Zurovets is a nice addition! great news todat
One concern I have is that when these "events" pull you out of quantum drive to spice up that half an hour journey, happen for the 5th time, it will start to feel really forced. Mike Asterios alien rubiks cube artifact. If you solve it you get the coordinates of the vanduul homeworld :)
Or what if you had to actively do something while warping, like avoiding obstacles and other ships
The Great Sauron hopefully i can stand up fromthe pilot seat and do stuff in my ship, like repairing and stuff. Or checking emails or looking at the cargo, lokking at the starmap, etc.

yay! thanks for the awesome video!
Thanks! Now, Mining and Cargo actually sounds interesting to me.
Awesome, you make my dreams come true. All the best to you Tony and Chris, eXpG_A1438
You guys really tend to say "you know" a lot. Just something I noticed.
Awesome video, by the way! Really gets me excited about all these new features coming up!

this is going to be the BEST game ever made, probably for a decade to come as well.
Need more discussion of science vessels/gameplay. My inner Janeway is calling.
Question: Are we going to be able to own/rent our own shops/kiosks?
this was great , i really like the voting system for questions.
does anyone get the feeling that think despite Chris's immense admiration for Tony he has a tough time speaking with him because of Tony's immense exposition?
super nice episode !!
Awesome stuff guys!
very interesting, much appreciated.
Tony Zurovec, the Persistent "U know" Director
Will tractor beams be available for use at the current stage of the salvage mechanic? If not, approximately when might that be?
only 50 minutes because tony is you know... in it!
"Director of the Persistent Universe." That's how you do a job description.
"You know.." So now you know! Thanks Tony!
33:18 : I haven't seen this place yet, have I ?
That Feeling when one of your question will be viewed by more than 100k people and is answerd by Chris :D, even if i made it barely into this list ^^.
What music was used in the title intro?
Tony Zurovec - Master of the (persistent) Universe
yay
I approve your yay with another yay ;)
yee
I won't be bored during a 10 minute Quantum Travel... I'm all about sitting listening to SC Radio and drinking a beer during QT. SPACE TRUCKERRRRRR!

My wife thought that Chris was Elon Musk. :) :) LOL
i always compare them both
My only hope is that the game comes out within three years.
well usual tripple A games take around that, and we are at about 4 and a half years. so i think thats reasonable.
gotta remember they r makin 2 games.
I'd be willing to wait 4-5 for the MMO but for Squadron 42 it has to come earlier jan/feb of 2018 at the latest.
Tamer Blur What most of the people didn't realize is that basically every game have a long development cycle but they are not being announced at the early stage of development like star citizen because they don't have to raise money from the public so that causes the misconception that star citizen takes a long time to develop
Zelda and Last Guardian took far more time than SC and they aren't even a fraction of the game SC is.
its 2019 , where the f*ck are professions ?
The difference between that and a "Persistent Universe" is the village would only get attacked the one time and it would remain as it was unless 1) it was completely destroyed or 2) actively rebuilt.
good on you guys for giving the backers the responsibility to pick the questions lol. huge burden lifted i bet haha everyone gets what they want.
The problem is some of the questions most voted on especially the most upvoted question have been answered before. Maybe the problem is that people need to do some research before adding a question or upvoting them.
been waitin for this for a while y'know?
Man I missed TFTC so bad, thanks for this CIG.
I just realized something, Tony Zurovec might be the only person in the world who can be more verbose than Chris Roberts when talking about game development than Chris Roberts. Chris actually has to keep Tony on track when answering the questions, usually it's Chris going on and on...;)
Which are these two questions you left out? No answer is alos an answer but I dont know the question to that ^^
Question #11, why can't I get a response from the support ticket department?
Luckily I had my custom designed "you know" filtering headphones on so I could understand what Tony was attempting to say.
Tony Birch 😂😂😂
Tony Birch lolol
That guy just dropping the cargo box on the ground. Good to know UPS still exists in the future.
I wonder why they didn't put any of the "you know"s in the captions?
This game looks more awesomer every yr, I'm still watching on the side lines.
eagerly waiting for this game a true space exploration with realistic graphics .
For some reason Chris Roberts reminds me of a Computer Gaming Elon Musk
ImmaterialDigression just with less execution
