    i turned my exo terra terrarium into a brooder as it keeps the warm and sheltered. I put a red lamp on top during the day and used a brooder plate with hay flooring. i use to have trouble with the drinkers so i set a nibble drinker on top of the plate they used it fine.

    Thank you, you have been very informative. My Bobwhite just started hatching out yesterday morning. 12 out of 50+ eggs. I had already taken 13 eggs out of 65 eggs I started with that candle good. This is my first time doing this. I've done pheasant chicks a few times before and they were pretty easy compared to the egg deal. I lost lost three that got into the water. Thought I fixed that with pebbles/small stones in the water and still lost another to that. So now I have every little water in it. And that seems to be working. I'm trying to learn fast... Your video was helpful. I'll look into more of your vids. Thanks again!

    my brooder set up is a solid Agricultural fruit bin ( Macro bin).. the vented ones also work good too, but you will need a liner for the bottom.. pine shavings deep litter and we get great results.. bins are stackable too if you want to make a multi level brooder system.

    I use wee pads in the brooder. Quick clean up.

      I use pee pads as well. So easy to clean up and good traction for the chick's.

    I just got into raising Coturnix quail. I appreciate all the videos you all put out on these quail. My first hatch rate wasn’t too good. Got 70 eggs 25 wasn’t fertilized and I lost 15 right after hatch and I’ve lost 5. I wish I watched more of your videos before hand. Hoping the next batch goes better

    When using a large tote as a brooder, should I put wire in the bottom after the first week or just wood chips till week 3 when they move to the cage?

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wood chips would work fine as well.

    I used drawer liner in the incubator and the brooder (large plastic tote). this last hatch. It is the first time that I had no splay leg in the bunch. I had used the blue auto paper but still had issues with splay leg. PS. I share my incubator with a friend that hatches chicken eggs. Is there anything That would be a no-no for doing that?

      That’s great. Glad it is working for you. Making sure it is cleaned and sterilized after every hatch.

    Hi Zach, can I keep males together if there are no hens? Will they get along? I have too many males and not enough females so I need to separate them.

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can have an all male cage (bachelor pad), it would help if you cover the cage with a tarp or blanket for lack of pecking

    • @sharonfuentes3624
      @sharonfuentes3624 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Myshire Farm thank you! Could I also keep a breeding pair together (1 male,1 female) as I am breeding for color and they are the only 2 of that color I have or will the male hurt her?

    Viva paper towels have the same texture as the blue towels but they may not be as thick. Do you think Viva towels would be good? I ask because I have those already.

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly but I would watch for the first day and if any signs of splay leg change it but that might work I have not personally tried that brand

    What temperature do you want the warmest part of the brooder?

    • @MrsStevenBrown
      @MrsStevenBrown ปีที่แล้ว +1

      90*F ..keep them very warm that first week to help with digestion, they start to regulate by day 8-9, can cool down to 85*F for week 2, than 75* etc…

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m video it states 99 the first day and .5 degree each day after that but there is a much easier way to do it

      @@MyshireFarm you are a wealth of knowledge! Thanks so much for your support. Can't wait to get your egg shippment from you. Been testing my new incubator and tracking everything. This baby is dialed in and would suggest you review it. It tracks with the Govee!

    do you add blue paper towels as they get dirty?

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First week no. If you leave them on after that then they should be changed once every 3-5 days
