1st Frost Tonight

The first frost of the season is tonight. Remember, this is necessary for your tree to eventually go into dormancy. Don't think you're doing your tree a favor by "keeping it out of the cold". Your tree should experience several frosts. It will tell you when it's time to go inside.

Nice. I didn't think a Black Mission fig would be cold hardy enough in PA. Do you do any type of protection for the in ground figs? I'm thinking of trying this variety sometime.

This year I’m covering them with mulched leaves and a pot. This worked fine on the Black Mission last year.
