This is just too much for words! Magnificent and so true to the art of French chateaux furniture style, the patina full of old world charm and warmth. If I didn't know it was painted, I would think it was the real thing, it is so convincing to the eye. I love it! Thank you for sharing your techniques, and it is an honor to have found your channel. I learn a lot from you and am deeply inspired by your work.
@@KathyB-m5d oh thank you very much it’s really lovely to have you here and I just want to say a big warm welcome and I hope you continue to enjoy the other videos😊😊🙏❤️
Oh Jonathan "a play day with WoodUbend"...I wish. That product is too expensive for me to be able to "play" with it. You crack me up! Happy you can though because I learned so much in this video. Thank-you😊
The only reason I would try an try to get an ordinary piece look like what you did, the circular pieces of bedside tables from the 70's,, all ornate but dark wood ,etc, but wanted them to look like old French chateau pieces from the old day, so ventured out on every technique, hence ,school glue for crackle , plaster of Paris for build up age ,chunky,,, old gold paint from dollar store , antique finish from dollar store,,,,, finally dry brushing with baby powder ,,, then just paste wax and buff , thankyou for all your videos love them ,xo you made my evening , so great
This is the best video of all I'v ever seen on this technique ,, like I said in the old day have used old school glue, plaster of Paris, baby powder , doller store old gold, etc, that was 15 years ago
I suppose the modern products have come along way but I don’t think you can beat some of the old ways making them yourself the effects can be quite amazing 🤩
My absolute favorite way of doing most finishes I use, for the last 10 years,,,, the products these days weren't available to me i had to improvise, mostly paint colours,,, old gold paint dollar store stuff , Elmer glue ,,, plaster of Paris,,,
A new admirer of your workmanship. Loved the finished product, and I certainly learned some new techniques to apply. One thing I know would be a pain for you to do, is for you to list the colors and paint you used in your projects, and any other product as well. It would save me and no doubt others having to rerun your video to try to catch the name of the product you are using. Keep up the good work! The more the merrier. Many thanks!
Your work is wonderful so respectful of the piece. You are so funny with your fly "poopies", lol. So, here is a joke for you. What did the constipated fly say? "I SPECK NOT"! Haha
I could watch you nonstop and get nothing done on my own projects which isn't helpful but only you can do that type of enchantment with the endless talent to choose colors that inspire
Gorgeous! What a great tutorial….I watched the ‘preview’ earlier this week and wasn’t sure what to expect after your fun weekend 😂. Too many names..confusing…Lol. We’ve got to get you to Canada! Would you? Looking forward to the next one!
Oh my goodness. You are so talented. You have made 2 pieces of plain wood become so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent and showing us what can be done with woodubend and paint.
That's cool,, I always thought that method and design would work really well on edging decoupage set on front of drawers etc, or just plain doors, or on panels on a wall ,,, or a boring door , love it
Yes over the years I’ve done quite a lot of hand-painted pieces I really enjoy working with chalk paint to paint country scenes flowers allsorts really 😊
Jonathon, I actually sucked in my breath as you applied the dark wax! WOW, that was QUITE the contrast.....but as usual you made it look beautiful.I thought it was interesting how much of a purplish hue it seemed to have when finished. My question is this: how does this wax compare to Annie's? I've never had to use, nor had a need to use, WoodUbend products, although I would love to try them some day. Those little escutcheons were pretty cool. You chose the one I liked the best! One final thought: I think you are having way too much fun on your trip. LOL
Thank you so so very much and I want to welcome you to my channel there is lots of content for you to take away a news as you wish I truly hope you enjoy my other project happy creating ❤️🙏😊
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove I plan on doing something very similar with two matching armoires, but don't think I can get the products you used in Italy. The armoires I have are huge, so I'm wanting to add decoupage paper. Can I do a crackle finish over decoupage paper using the crackle solution and maybe a really thin wash over it? Also, what it if I wanted more of the blue to come through? I'll most likely be using Annie Sloan chalk paint. I've been subscribed for a while and binge watch you wonderful tutorials long past the hour of a sane time to sleep. Love your work. You're a true artist, ♥ PS
Admit it... you had só much fun! 🤣 Wonderful to see so much freedom using products, no pressure, just fun. And it turned out beautifully. Ah you're just inspiring. Blessings and hugs from South Africa🦋🇿🇦
No I guess the job isn't easy, but you must be very gratified with your day's work and ain't you having fun! Loved the doors, looked for all the world like you just dragged them out of a barn and tried to clean them up. Thanks.
Watched video but didn't understand why you didvtwo coats of a beautiful turquoise then painted over it and didn't understand what people do with the finished product of 2 cabinet doors? Was this just for demo purposes? I learned a lot and did enjoy your french country instruction! I live in US so Magic paint must be UK product. Is their product magical in someway (like glitter innit)or just fun name? Thanks and best to you.😊
I suppose there’s just a small amount of blue from the cracks put the dark what does make it look even darker than the original blue maybe next time I will do a little bit more blue is the colour that I don’t use very often and I think I should 😊😊
You have been such a inspiration to me you have a gift not only for art but teaching as well! Thank you for putting your videos out I appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
I keep watching your videos and really want to recreate some of them but I can't for the life of me find where to buy any of these items in the UK apart from annie sloan paint. can you add links please? the magic paint is only in foreign that i can't understand
