I’ve had mine for just over a week. I’ve discovered I can place veggies on top of my rice, for a one pot meal. Best money I have spent. Kmart also do a small air-fryer which I got at the same time. Lasagna, curry pie, fish and chips - all for one person and nothing has taken longer than 30 mins.
Usually when rice cookers say to use “one cup” they refer to the plastic “cup” that comes with the rice cooker, and it’s typically smaller than what we call a cup 😏
The cup that comes with the rice cookers is a standard measurement called a US cup. In Australia, UK etc we use a metric cup. Many people don’t realise this and spend a lifetime messing up recipes from America by using a metric cup instead of a U.S. cup ! 😂
@@Dr_KAP actually @dwarftomatoproject is correct. the size of the cups that come with rice cookers are based on an entirely different measurement system for a single servings of rice or rice wine called a gō which translates to 180ml. you can generally approximate it by using a 3/4 baking cup as they measure roughly that amount 😊
Try using less rice. I put macaroni pasta, small tin of salmon with oil, frozen peas, frozen broccoli, and the water. Cook it as normal. When it clicks off, stir in one cup grated cheese. To die for. All in one pot.
I've bought that cooker and I love it - it's so light and easy to pull out which means it gets used. BTW, it's best not to wash rice in it as that will ruin the non stick coating. Great idea to do a whole meal in it - THANKS - I'll have to explore more options
@@zestygirl I bought one for my daughter too because it's such a help to get meals done. I love that it's set and forget and you don't end up with rice splatter all over your stove top. Yes, it's still another thing to wash but you'd have to wash a pot anyway to cook rice. I'll have to play around more with it - I've topped the rice with plain veggies (peas, carrots, broccoli, sweet potato all work well and I haven't tried frozen mixed veg yet) while I made the "saucy protein" part of the meal but an all-in-one-pot lunch or dinner would be a great time saver. Every time I pull it out I think "Aww, I want to pinch it's little cheeks" - but it doesn't have any LOL Cheers!!
@@andersonomo597 I did ramen noodles today - worked great! Quoting you - Every time I pull it out I think "Aww, I want to pinch it's little cheeks" ❤❤LOL
I’ve had this rice cooker for about 3 months. I bought it as I found cooking small quantities of rice difficult so this was a game changer. I think you used too much water. I use the measuring cup to measure equal amounts of rice and water. It does take longer to cook than you realise and a larger quantity of rice with all the other ingredients will take a while. I would probably use 1/4 cup rice for one person. But I am very happy with it and glad I bought it.
Hi Sharon, that's how I'm feeling too.... I really love it! Yes I had to much water LOL but surprisingly it worked out! I used 1/2 cup the next time and that was really great! So easy to clean is what I love too!
*TIP* - the cord flopping everywhere when putting this away was annoying me but I found this works........ I've wrapped a heavy rubber band just behind the plug, I wrap the cord around the outside and then hook the other end of the band over one of it's "little ears", I also use the rubber band to hold the spatula against the cooker, I pop the measuring cup inside and the lid on and it's all ready for next time. Hope this helps someone - it's a great little unit!
@@zestygirl You know that smug satisfying feeling when you've nailed it! That rubber band gave me a lovely dose of that but what really annoys me is that we have highly educated, experienced product designers who can't build a simple solution like that into their product design! A stretchy silicone band costing a few pennies would have finessed this product to the next level. It's not just this rice cooker, I've got several small appliances where cord storage is a problem and the designers always ignore that issue! Halve the quantity and try chicken stock instead of water.
Steaming rice gently gives much fluffier rice than nuking it.
