The amount of relatability this show portrays is insane! I think most asians can connect to this. The younger sibling always getting bullied, the way every house in the neighbourhood was considered family, eating at each other's house, and so much more. It was so refreshing amidst the regular romcoms. PS: I am and will always be a Deok Sun and Jung Hwan shipper. Petition for an alternate ending!!!
But i can't bring myself to watch this again... because it's too good and i have always craved for such friendship and playful childhood that I never had. And it makes me sad how duk seon always waited for Jung hwan to confess even when it happened it was laughed off by saying it's a joke. I felt bad for both of them. I cried a lot.
This drama makes me so nostalgic for my own youth and childhood neighbourhoodn friends 😭 Such a heart-warming depiction of family life with all its ups and downs, crazy and tender moments, and its magic of ordinary days. No villains, only golden life-lessons and genuine relationships ❤
Seriously Reply 1988 is the best drama I've ever watched❤️ This drama is a complete package. Not only depicting love but also family hood and friendship.
I loved that this show involved the parents so much. It really showed a broader perspective of their lifes. I noticed in this kdrama there is a lot more affection and skinship (hugging their family or friends) in it than other shows between parent and child. That really makes it stand out from the other Kdrama's to me. Because somehow I always miss that kind of affection in a lot of shows. It also really shows that no matter how old you are as a parent, they also have their own struggles, miss their own parents, etc. They're more than just a 'parent'.
Finished it today.. and still not able to get over jung hwan end up with no one 🥲... The most heartbreaking moment was when he makes his whole confession into a joke the moment he realised she moved on 🥲

5:55 this scene killed me , i watched the drama on Netflix and because of copyrights, i guess , many sounds were changed , hearing the original one here had me dying lmao the mother's expressions were hilarious

It stays with you in such a beautiful way. Deok Sun is my most favorite kdrama character ever. I love the way the romance blossomed in this drama. You don’t really see it coming but when you rewatch it it makes sense. Man I LOVE this drama!

everyone talking abot jung hwan and deok sun but my favourite character in the whole series was Bora's father Dong Il . such a amazing natural actor he is .

This whole 90s vibes takes you back to your own childhood..... This show made me reminisc my whole childhood days....every episode was a so relatable to our old days.....this show was very much close to reality and made me laugh love cry admire all the same time....and whole cast was just incredible.... This Drama perfectly portrayed how a family and a society should be. It delivered our asian day to day life so well to audiences. I had a roller coster ride of emotions watching this Drama, and on the way it taught me a lot as well. Absolutely my favorite Drama of all time and I won't give a second thought. P.S-I'm forever grateful that I came across such a great Storyline Drama and great actors.❤

This is so funny and so realistic. So realistic of that era. Customs, and background, characters, music, songs etc. all so real. I can definitely identify myself with this drama. They did a great job. I am watching it again in two years later. Lol 😂

My childhood days were like same.... We had our own gang.... My 2 best friends my brother and me ..... We four were like inseparable 😭😭😭... And last year lost my both best friends my childhood friends...they passed away 😭...watching this drama made took me back to me my old days..when we spend our whole days talking and eating and playing..... I just miss my friends... I really miss them...if only I can get them back in my life.....we all can sit and talk to eachother 😭 like we used to 😭😭.
Ive seen reply 1988 for 5x already, kinda sad when netflix removed it. When i feel down and depress this is one of my favorite tv shows.. I think this is my "friends" in asia. But the difference of this tv show, the whole family is involved. The parents are hilarious 😂 than the kids. And im dreaming to have this kind of people around me, not blood related, but they treat each other like one. Theres one scene, that i love, when they thought theres a "thief" in the neighborhood... And the princple dad is also doing partime tutorials. The best tv series for me.
