Problem is the sugar from the watermelon is what cuts the heat. Most of this is used by the yeast to make the ethanol. Additionally ethanol is a great solvent for the chemical capsaicin which makes the peppers hot. So I can imagine that stuff is super spicy.
That's why you infuse it with the actual fruit inside...did you even watch it?

Capsaicinoids are soluble in alcohol, acetone, and many other organic solvents. Add heat and vapor it's going to concentrate them. I would have finished the run to re-distill and try to mellow it from there rather than waste it. Interesting combo though.

That water only cools the condenser coils. Its what truns the alcohol from steam to liquid, it never touches the alcohol
I love love love love Watermelon, and it’s probably one of my all time favorite fruits and I love anything watermelon tasting! I bet this tastes great. I don’t know though I like a little kick but I don’t want to burn, when the guy spit that out, and said it burned him, I was like whoa. I always have huge lips when it’s crawfish season like Angelina Jolie lips I say I got for free because I eat Louisiana crawfish boil that’s hot with crawfish corn and potatoes, and my lips get blown up from eating because of the pepper and because I am a Jolie blanc cajien, lol. It doesn’t stop me from eating them! Crawfish season is coming soon! And my lips will be given a free plumping.

I appreciate the fact these guys need to put food on the table but how do they keep getting away with this if they all up on TV?
Because they aren’t real moonshiners, considering how most of their stuff is sold to the public by Sugerlands Shine and Ole Smokey distilling, both legal moonshine distilleries in Gatlinburg, TN. What I’m saying is these are licensed guys paying taxes and playing moonshiner in the woods on camera.

I don't eat unless I'm holding a Fresh chilli in my hand bite for bite. Love the burn and flavour, but chilli in liquid easily ruins a flavour and watermelon is a flavour that is easily ruined by doing anything else.

I wish that people would realize that this show is set up and if the discovery channel team knows where they are then the FBI or the ATF Knows exactly where they are and would bust them if this shit was illegal or if they were actually making real moonshine. I think they just show you how to make the moonshine but they are not really making authentic moonshine

The sweetness of the watermelon cuts down the heat of the pepper, and gives you flavor without too much bite. Man, i wish i could try this! Moonshine should be bigger and appreciated. I love cooking so I see this like baking which takes time, you wont really know if its good till the end result. Lot of work for an end process.
Not going to lie I really could go for some of that fire watermelon brandy, that flavor combination sounds divine.

I can’t believe there are states in the US where it is illegal to purchase alcohol. How primitive.
It's not illegal for them to purchase the alchohol, it's illegal for them to make high proof liquor unregulated, so really the distilling is where it becomes illegal. (Something still left over from prohibition). Theres good reason for it though, the first about half a jar they produce contains methyl alcohol which can cause blindness, etc.
@@nweek19I believe he was talking about the dry counties. It's legal nationwide but there are still certain counties where it's illegal to purchase or possess alcohol.

Honestly tho it takes a real man to admit they made a mistake and lose 50 bucks of liquor while changing the flavor vs losing all the money when they realize its too hot too late. Although i think gordon ramsey would love this liquor because it would be good to cook with,once you cook off all the alcohol you'd be left with the strong pepper taste and a slight hint of sweet. Im sure chicken cooked in this would be delicious!
