Managed all the way up the knee inside the guard just a roll with a brown belt who had me in his guard, I am a white belt, he was like wtf on his face when I got the knee inside, love this technique will keep working it thanks coach
thank you professor! i am very glad i found this channel as i tried multiple techniques from others and really they seem to look very natural but when applied ...i failed . the techniques you teach seem simple and effective, this is in the end the most important thing to work and do the job not fancy trency moves which do not escape you from nothing... i admire and respect the humbleness that professor Brian poses, and it's clearly seen the simplicity of how this guy is dressed, so simple no fancy ...best!
Don't sweat the critics coach. We LOVE the juicy details. It's what sets this channel apart. Can't please everybody. Keep the good stuff coming. Thank you!
Wow👏👏 I love the way you break techniques down Coach Brian. You've definitely helped me understand in a way most professors couldn't. Every time you upload a new video I can't wait to watch it immediately. Thank you and keep'em coming 🥋👌👏👏
I love the amount of detail you put into one move! And all of it is crucial points into making sure we're maximizing the effectiveness of the move thank you so much
Love this... I often have trouble opening guards so I just wait out and hope they get bored and open. Used this in my last session and already I am opening guards on my terms. Thanks for this...
This is awesome! Great details to control bottom guy once the knee goes through the “hole”. I’ve used several of your techniques already with huge success (after drilling them a while of course)! This is is another to add to my arsenal. Thank you so much!
We call this Knee Slicer or Knee Slice guard opener. One of my favorite ways to open guards, because the subsequent passing / leg attacks so are readily available. Even with the Knee Shield defense you can just drop to side for easy Step-over Heel hook (after controlling opponent's arm on that side).
Awesome video as always. Every time i see a new technique video from Coach Brian i know it's gonna be a little diamond of knowledge. I love the simple yet deep explanations of positions and techniques.
i prefer fingers over the armpit, but good to know that thumbs up works well too... i remember watching cesar gracie throw punches and elbows from there
Awesome video, I appreciate a look into how u mind plays grappling. Thanks for pulling us to the side at the end and explaining. Ouss. Also congrats on ur boy Vince. Dudes a killer
Be careful putting the knee in the hole against those with long legs, they may trap your leg and body in full guard and sweep you as you have no leg to base with. Roger used to do that all the time. Sometimes that happens even from head quarters.
On the one hand, this is super basic. On the other hand, it took around 8 months of training before someone explained it to me properly 😬 On the many names, I've heard it called the log splitter - which is a great name. Great details, especially the same side knee cut.
TeachMeGrappling Coach Brian Yes Sir. Wow thanks for replying coach it means a lot. I’m currently in Austin Tx I’m 19. working and learning Bjj currently I’ve got a Hard 2 year wrestling background from state level wrestling . sir your creativity always give me an edge Fundamentally and Confidence as well! I’ve got a question for you, given my Prior experience would you say learn a striking discipline next or “double” down on the ground?? Thanks for your time coach.!
TeachMeGrappling Coach Brian yes sir thanks for the insight coach.! Yeah expanding the tool belt is nice but knowing ones tools comes first. I got a lot on my plate as well so probably shouldn’t spread myself too thin. Keep making these fantastic videos man they help a ton!

Simple and efficient thank you coach👍💪
Great explanation!! Thanks Coach!
This is exactly what happens to me w good guard players. I need to work this pass. I believe they also call it the log splitter pass.
Top 3 grappling channel period. OSS from Denmark!
So much WIN in this video.
This man is a wealth of knowledge. Thank you.
i prefer fingers over the armpit, but good to know that thumbs up works well too... i remember watching cesar gracie throw punches and elbows from there
Nice coach... I always have trouble passing guard... This something new to try...
Great detail in the craft! Keep up the great work! Can't wait to try it!!!
Thanks , nice technique 👍👍
For MMA and Self Defense you need the high posture. Holding the hips and the thumbs up in the armpits is grappling without strikes.🙏
Another Great Video👍👍👍
Thx u u got it 👍 I get it now
I am your solid viewer coach! from philippine
I've always found with this is the balance being an issue and leg being trapped almost. They usually hip out slightly and off-balance to a sweep.
awesome! thx.
Let’s go coach!

Imagine the more openings you see once you practice this move over and over again. The possibilities are endless.
Thank you coach 🙏🏻
Cool
Love your work! At the risk of being a noob is this effectively the log splitter pass?

"If you go a little shin on balls" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

hey coach -- at 4:05, are you worried about the Roger Gracie sweep at all? I don't know if that's an official name but I know Roger was known for it
I was taught a pass that requires breaking the guard before you get into combat stance but this one seems way easier
coach are your writs vulnerable with that thumbs up in armpit position?
I call guard open a log splitter.
Log splitter
Mario Sperry did this pass. Saw it on his videos. Should have named the Video the Sperry.
Knee on balls gets the legs open every time, gotcha
Yo how do I train with you Coach! You’re out of Dallas right??
We are actually in SoCal, Santa Clarita north of LA

@@thesimpleshepherd7253 I would become proficient on the ground first but its never bad to learn a new skill like striking

Fuck..id fly 25 hours to learn from this guy.
Love your stuff. One two three never happens. 😄
Maybe you've been doing jiu jitsu for so long what has become basic, easy, and automatic for you is complex to the person that just started grappling.
Not wanting details isn't an ADHD thing, it;'s a white belt thing.
Everybody else's sweat on you? Bro, you gots the Covids now.
