Yes! True Talk! They were the template. I remember rushing to get the album when it first came out and my mind was blown. I thought Poison would be the hottest joint on there and it turned out EVERY joint was HOT!!!
I 👍 agree these guys were the blueprint for a lot 90s rnb groups TLC admitted to being a female version of BBD.. this group changed how rnb groups at that time should sound.

@@qwammienewsome1357 Yes, that's true. They rapped on Candy Girl and Popcorn Love on the first album. They also employed Popping and Locking in their step routines. While they did add Hip Hop elements, it was done in a very bubble gum way. BBD flipped the script by infusing the rawness of Hip Hop in both sound and visual style that no R&B group had done before and changed the whole landscape.

I happen to be with one of my aunts, we stopped by my cousin's place-had no idea that Biv was going to be over there but was told he may be by later on. BBD is definitely part of the soundtrack to my life. We used to be performing at party's out the blue, and only one of us could actually sing. Not to mention the style with the 1st record.
I remember where I was living and everything that was happening when Poison dropped. And I’m a pastor’s kid so I shouldn’t even been listening to that song. BUT I DID!!!
Hearing these dudes singing motown Philly is just too dope. Speaks to just how great 90s R&B really was, the artists, The groups and music are timeless. We need to hear more R&B singers/groups and producers on these platforms. Teddy Riley next up yeah?!

Blacks and Latins girls in The Bronx was doing dance routines to that song sun up, sun down. One of the rare occasions the whole block was united. The song will live in infamy.
The biggest anticipated project in my 50 years of life they premiered Poison video on video Soul and the radio and retail was overloaded with requests and boom 💥🧨💣..History
If you look at when BBD came out it was positioned perfectly. They basically kicked the door down in the beginning of 1990(Feb/Mar)..really starting the decade with a sound that hadn't been heard before. The way "Poison" hits you musically is the same way that their entrance into the music scene hit the world..no one expected the background singers of New Edition to come like this. It was crazy! They influenced the entire 90's R&B scene by setting the tone with their release within the first couple months of the decade! They deserve their flowers!
I remember as a kid when we used to dance to bbd poison running man dance steps and shuffle jump and dance moves , good ole classic smash called poison took over the world dance floors with a bang we watched it on television and it was steady on rotation on radio and older guys put us on that shit good

Years later when i had the first boy in the family he would take him to the shop too!!😊. As a little girl I learned a lot. My dad wasn't in my life as a child but my pop pop and the shop was. I know it helped shape me as a woman later in life. Married for 22 years😊

Brings him back to good times. Being a kid or teenage.
Ricky Bell is so underrated. His vocals are top notch still. He needs his flowers for real
yep definitely the most underrated underappreciated vocalist maybe in history
And has some of the most important or memorable parts in the NE songs.
He wasn’t featured enough in the early NE albums. It’s a crime that he didn’t have more lead vocal opportunities in the early years.
And he still has the voice. Dude is criminally underrated
Facts the vocals he did on smile again is top notch
