I'm with you and i can feel your pain, i'm still in denial, my heart is so broken! i've never loved a character in the way i did with vanessa ives! She deserved better.
The whole theme of the series is that Ethan and Vanessa have a pre-destined fate that both of them feel but don’t know what it is. Satan is claiming her for Evil but Ethan is God’s Chosen One to save her. Why did he leave? Because he feared he would kill her as the wolf. Door opens for Dracula-Satan to take her when Ethan leaves. (“While I live, nothing will hurt you” is then turned on its head.) Satan makes her the Mother of Evil, destroying everything. In that scene, Ethan begs her to renounce her transformation but she tells him it’s too late. She begs him to kill the Evil she has become. At last they understand what their fate always was. Ethan saves her soul by killing the Mother of Evil. At death she says, “Oh, Ethan, I see Our Lord” and she smiles. Destiny fulfilled. He has saved her.
The way you put together the parallel sings was beautiful. Thank you for this, it helped me grieve lol. There will never be another character like her.
Loved this show. Yes Vanessa was the backbone of this show and I loved her and Ethan. I wanted them together but realized if they got together it would have changed the show. As much as I disliked season 3, and her not fighting more, I realized it had to end this way. She was a creature of darkness and weary of fighting. Only he could save her by killing her.
I died when vanessa died , she was the only character i connected and loved, complex, dark and erotic. so beautiful and dangerous. i cant believe this. Great video btw.

The shock of all this has filled my eyes with tears whenever I stop to think about it. It will take awhile for me to get over this....what an awful thing to do to fans of this show! I watched the writer explain why he felt this was a fitting end and he lied.....because all the actors were told to expect at least 4 years from this series, if not more. I am still shocked to my core, but when my grieving is over....and it is replaced by anger, I will be writing letters to the powers that be.......namely Showtime...as well as cancelling my subscription. I have season 1 and 2, on DVD and do not believe that I have to purchase #3, since the characters were all separate anyway, and season 3 sucked. Thank you for taking the time to do this....I appreciate your efforts. Penny Dreadful will always have a place in my heart...as well as the image of Vanessa and Ethan waltzing to their beautiful theme music.Thank you again so much....RIP Penny Dreadful.......special thanks to Eva, Josh and Tim for making such a show so beloved by us all!!!

I just felt no one cared about vanessa throughout the whole third season.. it was so terrible.. probablyw ould have been more fitting to even kill her off af the end of the 2nd season.. this 3rd season ruined the whole show for me.

I wish they had one more season but they hinted at what would happen from the first card drawing and when she said "in the end I want you to look me in the eyes and pull the trigger." Just as joan knew she was going to die so did vanessa and she knew he was the one to do it. Like trinity knowing she would fall in love with the one vanessa knew she'd fall in love with the man who would kill her

The show was cancelled mid S3 by the studio. No one’s contract was renewable. There would be no S4. The ending was always going to be the same in any final season. Logan said so.
Doomed love is the sexiest kind. You know they want to tear each other's clothes off, but they can't! Something is keeping them apart. I don't know, but I'm a very cerebral person. I like to romanticise things. It's why I'm drawn to Byronic Heroes/tragic heroines.

This show is amazing! You made me cry with this edit...I loved Ethan's and Vanessa's relationship and i didn't think it would end like this.
