Phew, I've been working on this one for a bit - Went through my DVD sets and ripped all the 5.1 surround tracks from them, managed to get almost every different recording of the main theme I could find. One or two of them still have the SFX just barely audible, but all the rest are completely sound-effect-free. I'm not going to watch all 25 seasons so I've probably missed a few, I mostly went off descriptions on the Wiki. XD
Did the track names here from memory, so I may have muddled one or two of the early ones, but I think the rest are accurate. ;-)
Let me know in the comments if there are any other versions and I may eventually make a Volume 2...
*EDIT*: I only just realised that the Thompsons one came out as mono by mistake..... I'll put the original stereo version in the next volume, sorry!

4:23 is when it achieved absolute perfection. Everything is so crisp and perfectly timed. Bravo, Alf Clausen, on taking one of the greatest compositions of the last fifty years and making it shine with perfection.

Danny Elfman is a mad genius to come up with a tune like that, right? With all that complexity and insanity that culminates into a perfectly resounding coda
And if you take a look at some of the stuff he is doing nowadays, I think you'll be even further inclined to agree with me. Check out the song 'Happy,' it's so creepy and weird but a great social commentary aspect to it. It's like, true art

Heard so many times, never really got tired of it.
I am extremely nostalgic for Season 1, with the crude animation and diffrent music. The opening for that season has the best intro music accompanying it, so weird and yet so great.
5:13 The Alf Clausen version has always been my favorite, this being one of the reasons why.
From 8:08 to 8:12 it's a weird mixture between the long and short season 2 intros, followed by the usual season 3 one. Then it switches back to season 1 with the long garage scene music. It's almost as if this was the ultimate version of the opening theme.
I always loved the part it plays in the s1 and s2 theme when homer is pulling in
I love the sound effect of the carbon rod hitting the curb. It's so crisp.

8:36 This version was used in seasons 1,2 and 3. They remastered this and used it for seasons 3 and 4.

I had no idea. All these years and I never bothered to look it up. No wonder I like it.
It's a shame how often the theme gets cut down in more recent episodes. Stupid advertising length. At least the DVDs contain the full thing.
Newer episodes only use the normal opening (usually with most parts cut off) or the short opening. I don’t really see the season 5 cut and condensed or season 3 condensed anymore.
I recall seeing one modern episode that goes from the chalkboard gag straight to the garage scene, but the season 5 cut wasn't used (I guess since it wouldn't synch up with the new sequence). Instead they just cut the music alongside the footage, which makes it sound really bad.

Infact the "bass" voice in the choir who sing "The Simpsons" in the beginning of the music is Danny Elfman!
7:10 is my favorite version.
I prefer the Elfman arrangement IMO.
The only ones he forgot were:
The very, very short intro. (Used in nearly every episode.)
The very, very short intro. (season 2)
The one that goes from the clouds straight to the tv. (Season 6 or 7 I think)
The alternate season 3 credits.
The season 1 short intro (Used in “Bart the General” and “Life on the fast lane”)
The 138th episode special.
The first episode Christmas special. (Maybe)
i think the "very, very short intros" are just edited versions of the other short intros

That version on 9:39 was first used on season 1, followed by being used on season 2 of the Simpsons.
There's also a longer Clausen closing theme (similar to the Elfman one at 8:36) that was used in season 3 and early 4.
Oh, Yeah. And there's that, too.
Season 2 end credits wasn't made by Alf Clausen, it was made by Danny Elfman.
Alf Clausen joined the simpsons in season 2, but he does not compose this music.
Wow, that long? I do suspect that maybe Alf Clausen was an orchestrator for the Season 2 theme, at least.
I thought so too. It sounds too much like Elfman's version to be Clausen's.
Clausen didn't join the show until a few episodes into season 2. And Chris Ledesma (their music editor) specifically said that Elfman did the season 2 opening arrangements for the different opening lengths.

Unpopular opinion, but the Season 2 version is my favourite. Always has been.
How tf is that unpopular? It's the one most people heard.
@@AlextheKungfuMaster No it's not. It was only used for that one season. The signature one everybody knows is the Season 4 recording that's still used to this very day.

Does anyone know or could you upload the closing theme of the episode in season 6 when marge became a cop for one episode? The closing credits have a smooth jazz feel to it, really innocent. Its not a normal closing theme song.
What about Alf Clausen's different version of the end credits from the season 7 episode "22 Short Films about Springfield"? Except that they changed the music in the rerun on FXX

The "Season 4" theme actually made it's debut in Season 3, not Season 4.
I rly love the Movie’s instrumental version with Green Day! Id always laughs at the part Were Smithers helps Mr. Burns put on toothpaste on His toothbrush! 😂

Did you put this through a compressor? The volume levels are wildly inconsistent, and it sounds like everything was recorded to a low bitrate MP3 file. Do you still have the unedited rips?

Nope, but they reused the S02 version for the long intro.
That's incorrect, the full version of the re-arranged opening debuted on Season 3 episode 9 (Saturdays of Thunder). The season 2 version was only used on When Flanders Failed which was a holdover from season 2.

Season 4 is the perfect one :D the Hans Zimmer's version lacks pureness. It is a perfect example what NOT to do. It sounds to big, like for a musical, overcomposed.
if it had been orchestrated instead of turned into a rock version it would have been better
It sounded glorious from 6:13 until 6:27, where whatever artists they hired to compose it decided to freestyle instead of sticking to the classic.
