- A girl with cerebral palsy got the prom night every teenager deserves. Evelyn Araujo and Tahj Oliver met when they were sophomores at East Oswego High School in Illinois. When he heard the school was having a special needs prom, Tahj knew he wanted to ask Evelyn and surprised her in class with a promposal. My hat goes off to this young man, thank you for setting a good example for other young men who don’t know how to act like a true gentleman.
People act like she is so different when she is just the same as us. People say he is so kind to do this because no one would ask her, but honestly it shouldn’t be out of kindness, it should be because of love. Because he loves her for her.
This is absolutely amazing I also have Cerebral Palsy and I'm in a wheelchair. I left school nearly four months ago, and my prom was on 23rd June. The school I went to was built in the 1900s. I started the school in 2003 the last year before the school got knocked down and ten years later the school is still open all brand new, and because I am the longest student in that school I had an amazing prom!❤

But in cases like this it's not so common, but it can happen due to health problems.
Love this story, amazing ;) Brought tears to my eyes... my best friend is in a wheelchair, with the same condition. You take the most simple things in life for granted, and I look at her and the things she can't do that we totally take for granted, and it really makes you re evaluate what's important in life. Stars can't shine without darkness, and that's just a fact... the brightest stars have the most darkness. Thank you for this heartwarming story :)

One of my best friends shaun has celebral palsy im in 5th grade he is actually in 4th but he skipped a grade.Having celebral palsy doesnt stop him from doing anything btw he does not have a wheelchair. He is such a fun spirited loving guy. He even became school secretary!

Some ppl seem to think that special needs kids aren't ppl. Which really hacks me off!! I can remember back in 4th grade when we would go outside for recess I happen to notice one day that there was a girl in a wheelchair outside with her special ed teacher. Me being the curious type and wanting to know who she was and what was wrong with her. But I was unsure if it would be polite to be so....well nosy as my mom said I was (lol). So I waited a few days and just watched her. When I finally decided to go up to her to say hi I stopped cuz I noticed there was kids around her and no teacher. I got scared at first but then seen the teacher go after the ball the special needs girl somewhat threw. It was that day her and I became inseparable, the kids that by her was bullying her and making fun of her pulling her hair just being down right mean. I ran up to them and pushed them away from her and stayed until her teacher came back. Long story short....(lol) she had cerebral palsy. Everyday I played ball with her and I was allowed to be with her at lunch. I looked after and protected her, the teacher said that she can say some words, but a lot of times it was grunts & groans. The day she said something clearly made me cry... As I was leaving her after lunch she grabbed my hand and said "don't go, I love you" the teacher was shocked cuz she's never spoken that clearly. Sadly just as I was going into 5th grade the principal called me into the office one day. Hannah had passed away in the night her mom said that she was asking for me, I was told that she went peacefully but before doing so Hannah once again I love you! 😭😭😭 I was heartbroken but I guess you could say happy because I knew she was in a better place.
