Yeah, Iris is one of the few who are strong enough that can see Cid's actual power, just witnessing the slight movements alone meant he can reach her and end the fight instantly.
I really don't think Iris is that bad. She has good intentions, but I guess her arrogance comes from she's got no one to learn from growing up. People always praise her, and they keep showering her with positive words and even foreshadowing her mistakes with complements. They don't even know that they're hurting both her and her sister and not letting them grow as a whole. I think Cid will be the key in the future, someone she looks up to, to learn her mistakes from. He could help her grow indirectly.

She was not allowed to, so instead she trained and trained without having a clear goal to measure up to and building even more of a gap between her own strength and that of everyone else in Midgar. She ended up in a glass house, but not because she wanted, but rather because her position and her father locked her in it. It's actually kinda sad that they didn't add her inner monologue from the manga and LN completely during the fight. Because in the anime she just says "For this man to do this to me he has to be the most powerful man in the world." but usually her full statement is "I always knew that no matter how strong you get there will be someone stronger out there, so I expected to be defeated one day. But I am objectively one of the most powerful Dark Knights in the world (she is right about that) so for someone to be this much more powerful and toy with me would make him the world powerful man." The full statement plays more into how her arrogance is also part act in order to reassure people, but she does actually think about things such as her shortcomings or eventual losses. In the end though I agree that what Cid did was good, not because she needed to be humbled, but because Midgar needed to be shown that they can't just rely on their one symbol of power. Her no longer being the most powerful in her eyes at least also gives Iris more freedom to actually go after threats and do what she always wanted, instead of just sitting around as a useless symbol.

So Cid having knowledge and mastery of earth's fighting styles + magic from the current world + his dedicated training makes him very op
