I enjoy looking lean preferably; so my lean shoulders are a good negative for me. But if you want to look bigger, make sure your also; (along with the exercises of this video, choose the ones that you can master and really feel the tension on the shoulders), working on your back and chest-to allow the shoulders to be complimented and have the strength for proper technique in shoulder workouts.

I’m pushing 59 and can’t believe how tough it is now, as opposed to my younger years, to be a disciplined exerciser. I own a Bowflex Revolution and love it. I hit it (upper body only) 3 times a week at 10 exercises, 20 reps each and then do my 125 ab crunches on a simple ab device. Then 30 leg raises on my back. Some lower body stretching, 35 continuous pushups then I’m done. All in just under an hour. I’m going on 3 years at this program. I’m not seeing much in terms of mass gains, but my stomach has deflated to where I’m starting to see some ab definition. I’ve been working out since my teens, just not consistently. Never really got too big but was always pretty fit. My goal is to keep up with this routine until my body refuses. What age might that be? If I knew, I’d probably stop working out because half the intrigue is not knowing when my body says it’s had enough. Grab a used Bowflex Revolution if you can. They take up a little more room than a treadmill and no more going to the gym. I’m just looking to provide inspiration just as I get mine from these videos.
Thanks for the inspiration, Jeff…and to the guy with those massive shoulders! 😜

Keep it up! I'm 67. Working out is my main hobby since I retired 3 years ago. I trained 20 years ago, good results but no sixpack. It's not going to happen I think despite loads of effort. I do a mix of dumbbells, bands and bodyweight at home. I'm making progress slowly but it's a lot better than slowly declining with age!

People say, you shouldn’t have to exercise given the hard work you do. I always tell them I wouldn’t be able to do what I do if I didn’t exercise. What doesn’t help is I like to eat dinner after work when all I’ve eaten each day is breakfast, I don’t stop for lunch. And ice cream is something I’m not about to live without! Keep up the good work! 💪

Always remember people its a marathon not a sprint, dedication, hard work and consistency will help you achieve these goals.
Even if you're depressed and you're watching this video and other fitness videos to help motivate you, just remember you can achieve your goals if you set your mind to it and say fuck you to depression. Nothing can stop you once you have your mind on something.

Can we get a video where Jesse talks about his workout splits throughout the week? As a hard-gainer in his 40s, I'm still feeling confused about how I should be structuring my workouts. So much conflicting information out there.

Don’t overthink too much of it, at the end of the day hitting your shoulders is hitting your shoulders but the more and more you look at other sources it’ll say too many things and it’ll confuse you more, we’ve all been there

A general rule of thumb supported via research is that if you want a specific muscle or muscle group to grow, you should train it at least 2x a week.
This means that you can set up your workouts as:
      Full body 2 or 3x a week
      Upper Lower 4x a week
      PPL 6x a week
Any of these setups will help you to begin building muscle as long as you train with proper form, and intensity.

Big motivation this one. Especially for the hard gainers like us out there, it's harder for us but seeing this does bring encouragement to me as well. It'll take more time than others but I'll get there

I started watching AthleanX and began my strength training journey a little after Jesse did in 2018. I was near Jeff's age (39) when I started and struggling with injury from previous improper lifting (not being serious or dedicated), caloric restriction and Keto/IF (which helped greatly to reduce body fat), and age itself. Even though I lack some of the gains Jesse was able to achieve due to combination of all the aforementioned, I still notice a huge difference in body composition and muscle mass in my before and after pictures.
I have seen a few videos about Jeff's diet and one you did in 2018, but what is Jesse's current daily diet consist of? How many calories? How many fats/carbs/proteins? Supplementation? Carb loading before or after your workout?

Good job, Jesse! Keep up inspiring people!
Jeff, I have one question: Could you talk about the correlation between muscle growth or development and athleticism? I mean, how relates the muscle size and strength to optimal athletic performance?
Thank you Jeff and Jesse for all the advice and inspiration.👍

Jesse is such an inspiration and testament to the techniques and science. Hope to see him continue to progress and like these check in moments where we get to hear from a user to reinforce some ideas that have been hard for me to unlearn. I know I'm too focused on the reps or the amount of weight I'm trying to lift at times.

Coming from another skinny, Jesse's progress is impressive, especially his back I think. Dang that's a Chad back man, from what you started at.
I was 117 lbs when I started lifting in early 2020. Had weighed the same since high school and I was 37, give/take a few lbs. I gained a bunch but then lost some cause I just have such an issue with eating; my appetite is just non-existent. Slowly going back up though.

He makes all guys with his frame go “if he’s that strong, what can I do?”
Thanks a million to you both, Jeff and Jesse, and keep up the great work!
