  • We brought the iconic style 2 DIVINHOOD to Vortex Springs to explore and swim in the fresh, crystal clear water of a Florida spring. This helmet is one of the coolest looking hats ever produced, resembling a medieval knights helmet. The style 2 DIVINHOOD was patented in 1926, and is the first to be labeled the Navy Standard, this helmet was made famous due to scientists such as Mayer, Bebee, and Longley in their study of submarine life. While this helmet is fantastic to look at, it is not the most enjoyable to dive, the large ports give great visibility but also great distortion. The diver is unable to look straight ahead, he must focus out one port or the other, causing him to walk crooked.
The Miller Dunn company was located in Miami, FL. and produced 4 different styles of helmet (3 shallow water hats and the US Navy MKV). More information will be provided about this company and their helmets in upcoming videos, so stay tuned!

I feel like i'm choking watching this. You should wear plate armor as well, you'll look like an underwater knight. Bring a sword and fight a whale. Looking forward to more videos. They're exactly what i need in my life.

This is a great idea! I've subscribed with the hope that you will put a microphone into the helmet with you for some live commentary, I imagine it being quite casual and comical, would that be possible or is the air flow noisy?

I like that idea! We're definitely going to have to try that out in the future!

    Is it dangerous?

No more dangerous than scuba. A big selling point for these shallow water helmets was that if anything went wrong, the diver would take off the helmet and surface
