The hidden SBMM to put you "where the game thinks you should be" is so insane. Last year I played a TON of MW2 ranked. I was very good. But I only solo queued. I did very good in majority of my games, but obviously you can't win them all when solo queuing. I won a game in a Plat 3 lobby in SND with 20 kills and like 5 deaths and I got like 25 SR. When I would lose a game whether I was good or bad, I would lose like 25-60 SR. It becomes an impossible feat to get to the rank you should be because the game "thinks" you should be lower. In this scenario, I would have to win like 80% of my games to slowly rank up solo queuing. Sorry I'm losing games because my teammates are ass sometimes. It is so frustrating. Just do an actual skill ranking.
This is why I no longer play Shooter games especially AAA games. They are riddled with MTX, SBMM, and cheating further ruining it. I can no longer avoid it since I switched to PC gaming. You can no longer play to enjoy it. It is pretty much like another job while also dealing with your toxic coworkers and your boss doing nothing and let it all under the rug.
Funny, I thought ranked play had been out since day 1 the way my lobbies have been. Oceania lobbies + SBMM leads to literal tournament level lobbies at prime sweat times, can't take it much longer.

I knew something was off when I saw Iridescent skins and emblems while we were in Silver. The other annoying thing is the stats are screwed up. Idk if they fixed it yet but Hardpoint/Control stats show the wrong hill time and captures. Also Ricochet is dog water lol

Qued up with my homies for ranked. There were 3 of us. Literally our first game we were matched up against 19-30 ranked players. There’s definitely a hidden rating. Even ranked play is a joke

The cheating in this game is insane, i play hardcore and the cheaters on there are so obvious and its weird because they has killcams for hardcore and then immediately took them out for no reason. The series as a whole is in a pathetic state and hasn't been good since 2019
Hardcore players are statistically the worst players in the game so I highly doubt you’re running into cheaters in that mode. You’re probably just matching against an average Joe going for camos or something lmao
Couple things the old man forgot to mention. The hardpoint time is bugged on the scoreboard and it will randomly not connect you to a game giving you a ban and taking your sr. Spawns are absolutely terrible (probably even worse than pubs)
they need to make it so you can turn off crossplay for pc and xbox, or make it input based matchmaking as well. i was matched against several top 250 players from the last game several times in bronze and silver

@@srippin7007 well, the conversation was (during S5 MWII), my gold lobbies were harder than my buddy’s gold lobbies. I hadn’t played ranked since S2, so S5 I was rank 28 gold I. My buddy was rank 50 gold II. I decided to play rank a bit with him during S5 and he brought up that the games were a lot harder whenever I joined him even though we were both gold. The only thing that made sense was SBMM within the division. Which is fine, but damn. That means someone’s gold lobbies aren’t the same as someone else’s gold lobbies.

On top if you played at the start of season 2 maybe your MMR put you in higher bracket of gold players so you rank up faster to “counter” the smurfing
Ranked play really is awful. Solo matches are hell on earth. I’ve been stuck on bronze 2 for so long because my team loses so many games. I feel like I’m playing against pro players in freaking bronze tier.

Cheating is such a plague for every game. They’re so cheap, accessible, and the devs either have a hard time trying to keep up or straight up don’t bother with developing a strong anti-cheat. Tbh there will always be cheaters and cheat makers. Only if we do something extreme like in China where your social security is tied to your online presence will it “maybe” go away.
I think it's time to take a hiatus for a while. They're dodging the SBMM debate and can't get their cheaters under control. Bro, no cap, BO2 was THE HIGHEST peak of COD, I stuck around since BO3, when I was getting snuffed by a guy with a Marshall Pistol, hiding in a corner of a house, that I shot first, on a major kill streak. And I couldn't do anything about it, because that's when the supply drop weapons were broken and almost unobtainable. That's when they lost my money for future CODs. I saw the writing on the wall for their future and they didn't care about skilled/loyal players. They just care about the money. And I was at broke college student status.
In MW2 I was gold in ranked, and I remember bronze and silver being decently easy for me and my friends. Now bronze gives us trouble!!! They are cheating everywhere in ranked I swear. It’s sad, how I can I take the game seriously when a decent portion of the players are cheating.
Facts. When it first game out bronze and silver lobbies were like crimson and iridescent lobbies because the best players were still there. They were honestly the hardest ranks to get out of….. Placement games just like any other game’s ranked mode should be a given. Don’t understand why they don’t do that

And it only gets worse the higher you climb because valves anti cheat system is non existent. The best part is you can go back and download the match and confirm they are infact cheating so there's no guessing games.

@@860rondo Yea sadly it doesn’t work that way. Unfortunately cross-play with pc made it extremely easy to mod modern games. Back before, you had to use an rgh to first bypass Microsoft servers with custom code, and then also hacks to bypass game servers. Each console had its own unique ID that would be perm banned from ms. Game servers could only ban your account from their game itself, not your console. Anyways point is it was very hard to do, only nerds pulled it off. Modern hacks take no skill, and literally any 14yr old with $10 can go buy them on pc.
Last year I made it to diamond 1 I worked alot. This year its like I get no aim assist, cheaters, and it keeps giving me teammates who suck or I get laggy servers and I suck. I'm not even a bad player either it's very frustrating solo queuing. I'm hard stuck Plat 2.

Apex legends ranked has become this very thing, the hidden MMR, gaining different amounts of RP depending on who you kill, silvers mixed with preds and masters. It’s not fun to play, I’ve become a hard stuck silver/gold player, while my bot friends (that I carry in pubs) are hitting plat in less games. I went against an ALGS pro (HISWattson) and his premade squad, first game out of my provisional matches while playing with another one of my friends who was also silver. Like that stuff should go based off of your rank instead of some hidden SBMM, it’s a terrible addition to ranked. I’ve also gotten into Overwatch 2 recently and the ranked system in that game is terrible as well, it’s so hard to rank up, rank changes after 5 wins or 15 losses, you could win 5 games straight and your rank won’t change. OW2 is having some kind of change to ranked next season so we’ll see how that goes
Played a game yesterday, my team was 3 plats and a gold, the opposing team was rank 13 diamond 1 and rank 22 crimson and 2 golds. Actually a joke to have sbmm within ranked
I was excited for ranked having never played it before. My first few games in bronze were easy and I’ve kept my kd & win/loss ratio above 1 and as soon as I hit silver 2 it became an absolute sweat fest against diamond platinum and gold people and when we beat them I still only get like 70sr… Several times I’ve won and got no sr and lost 100-300 sr in a single game… Idk if I should’ve skipped season 1 ranked and gotten my stats up in multiplayer to get my hpr up so I get more sr in the lower divisions or what. I’ve consistently top fragged and had no increase in sr despite improving. This mode is a joke
Apex has a similar rank system with hidden mmr but it has placement matches the only catch is who they have you in the lobby with don’t matter for some reason. A bronze if really good enough can get matched up with a lobby full of 3 stacked apex predator squads. Mmr has been out of control recently
Let me preface this by saying i’m on PC and this is my first ever ranked COD. Didn’t play MW2. I quit the other games i was playing because i didn’t WANT to play competitive, but with SBMM in pub lobbies and my mates wanting me to run ranked with them, i figured what the hell. 1. So many cheaters, but they aren’t submitting. A couple feel like they’re soft lock ons, but majority are blatantly walling. 2. SBMM is stupid asf. I cruised through bronze and silver. Upon getting into gold all i’ve been playing is ex-crims/iridescents… all mid plat or diamond… Why? Since leaving silver i’ve barely dropped any massive games and I don’t have the stats, whether it be W/L or KD to warrant that? 3. Aim assist - I know roller players are constantly annoyed this is brought up but being destroyed by a rival 9 long range even when i’ve hit all my shots with an MCW purely because the other person is on controller is soooo frustrating. I think they have a ton of potential with this, but they’re too lazy to ever do anything. Genuinely disappointing.
Been playing on console since infinite warfare, hax on PC became too widespread. Them adding cross-play ruined my interest in MW3. I can't count how many times I've watched killcams track me through walls and prefire on warzone.
My MW3 Ranked experience mainly consists of me solo queuing while being silver II going against a squad of 4 platinum IIIs all in a party while my teammates are bronze IIIs at best. I give up

Matches for me was messed up today, I'm only on silver and rusty as hell, and I've been matched up against crimson and up, haven't played online since cod ghost
The real way it should work is you should START , EVERY SEASON, at your highest rank ever, but you have to maintain that rank for 3 or more games to get those rewards. You can't log in every season and only play one game and get all the iridescent stuff, and you can't start top 250 either everyone in top 250 starts iri. If you fall down a SR rank during those initial games you now get the rewards of that lower tier instead and that becomes your max or memory rank in future seasons, unless you move back up then you get your iridescent stuff etc. This makes the game fair and has that hidden or memory MMR baked into it instead of using a changing MMR from the pub list. This means if you were a bronze shitter last season you won't have to worry about playing anyone with any kind of experience because all their memory ranks will keep them in higher brackets. The people that really will have to fight it out are people getting out of gold, and diamond to crimson as its supposed to be. The reason why Activision Won't do this is all they care about is play time. While this would be more accurate and competitive and gets right to the point of who is actually the best every season, who climbed the farthest or improved each season it also takes you SUBSTANTIALLY less time to get the rewards you want because you're not grinding from the bottom WITH EVERYONE, crimsons, iris, diamonds Vs real silvers and bonze, especially when a new cod title gets its opening ranked play. This current method really once again sandbags players in the middle of the distribution and stops them from playing to improve early on, because early in the season you're going to be playing against people way above your skill level with more recent skill. Later in the season you might move up but you're playing opponents who aren't that good either because they too are dodging the good players. Then in the final seasons its All cheaters scrambling to replace the cosmetics they lost during banwaves. Now you're basically back to square one as these are people artificially way outside your skill ability. you can't improve to that level over the course of one season so a lot of people stop after the good players ranked up. this also messes with the quality of teammates you get in later seasons unless you luck out and get the hacker on your team and they willing to carry you. Once again Activision is ruining a good ranked play experience because they are valuing engagement and the cosmetics treadmill over skill. This method would also take a lot of people out of ranked who just want to farm cosmetics. They would grind to iri one season and then they have 5 seasons to basically 3 three matches in their starting bracket win three in the next and fall down again next season, or there could be a prestige mechanic where you voluntarily give up your current memory rank to start at bronze, you grind to the rank you want rinse, repeat next season. This would minimize exposure of very good players to perpetual shitters that stay in bronze 5 seasons in a row. the group they obviously want to protect. Again they won't do it because they covet forcing you to play the game longer than you want over actually giving you stuff you earned by putting multiple years into the game which is what skill displays.
I don't play cod that often but form time to time I do. I'm no legit veteran, sure I've played every single cod but its never been that serious to me. But to the point... hopped on with a friend that isn't that good of a player and played cod with him for about 2 h, we were playing bots and slamming everyone then he had to dip. Then I decided to solo Q.... wow terrible idea. Got qued up with people in diamond rank and people that has so many more hours than me who maybe plays twice a month. Then all games was super hard until my friend came back and then we started playing bots again. I have no game sense whatsoever I'm just a good gunner that does so so good and that puts me in the highest elo. It actually no worth for me having cod downloaded if I'm forced playing the best players in the game and I'm just tryna play the game casually
CoD Mobile has the best ranked system I've ever seen. It treats you like an actual human. - You performe good and win? Good, take a lot of points - You lost a game, but your perfomance was good? It's okay, you'll lose less than you should - Your enemies was too tough for you? Okay, let's compensate that a little bit with some additional points - You're dominated on enemy team? Get a bonus points for that, champ! - You're getting destroyed for three games in a row? Get a free bot lobby game, so you can regain a bit of points (yeah, it's controversial addition, but it's a mobile game after all) I know, it's a MOBILE game and it's meant to be EASIER to play ranked. But I like the point that if you are above average player and you play enough games you can get the highest rank. If you are hardcore sweat player, you'll probably gonna be in the ranked leaderboard (or more likely play tournaments).
My big issue with ranked is the SR bugs that have fucked me. I should be at the top of diamond 3, but I had a few nights in a row where I’d win a game and lose 400 SR. Lost almost 2000 SR total in matches that I won.
First season is rough because everyone starts in bronze. So you’re likely playing people that are higher skill than their visible rank. But matchmaking is rough because of that since your team may be a true silver.
Hot take that shouldn’t be that controversial but it is: cod isn’t fit to be a competitive game the ttk is too fast there’s no real skill gap recoil is too easy movment is too easy the maps are trash and there’s too many unbalanced weapons the game is simply too easy with such a small skill gap to have a legitimate competitive scene especially when the game is catered around casual players and their anti cheat is dog
I agree with you, but honestly I think its a bit better than last year, bcs now they have a rule that you have to be lvl 55 to play ranked, so hackers that get banned have to grind so they can even play ranked, and I think that its now worse than its gonna be, bcs everybody is gonna get banned and then those ppl will have to grind to the lvl 55 and it maybe can prevent some of those hackers to keep on comming back and making new accs. ofc those points you made are true and I agree, but dont you think this could lower the amount of cheaters in like a month? I will be honest, I know multiple ppl who cheat in mw3 and they just get shadow banned for a few days IF AT ALL and then they come right back. Perma bans aint gonna happen unless you're using some free garbage bc everything else is undetected and even then they still dont wanna ban bc they want that $$$.

i agree with everything you said, i would add that as a MnK player, I don't have years of xp on it to compete that well against Aim Assist (people are overclocking controllers on pc via github). Ranked play also has 2 viable guns to use which in turn everyone is copy pasta with MCWs.

I wonder if this is like R6 Siege new ranked system. Basically the rank is more like just an image or something that you can show and chase but in reality your MMR is in secret. It’s been a hated system but this makes sense because all major game titles seem to be switching to this style I think because it’s meant to protect unskilled players. It’s a terrible system but you should look into this system compared to R6 Siege’s new rank system cause what you’re explaining it sounds similar
T250 can only play with Crimson and up. The mode is broken due to the copy and pasting it into MW3. Thus, T250 are getting matched with anyone. This may be part of the critical issue they had that ordered the delay but released it anyway due to negative feedback.
If I don’t get to at least crim by s3-4 I’m going to give up on cod/ranked and stick on siege and if xdefiant and their ranked system is good I may just grind that out.

When I would lose a game whether I was good or bad, I would lose like 25-60 SR. It becomes an impossible feat to get to the rank you should be because the game "thinks" you should be lower. In this scenario, I would have to win like 80% of my games to slowly rank up solo queuing. Sorry I'm losing games because my teammates are ass sometimes. It is so frustrating. Just do an actual skill ranking.

This is why I no longer play Shooter games especially AAA games. They are riddled with MTX, SBMM, and cheating further ruining it. I can no longer avoid it since I switched to PC gaming. You can no longer play to enjoy it. It is pretty much like another job while also dealing with your toxic coworkers and your boss doing nothing and let it all under the rug.
Funny, I thought ranked play had been out since day 1 the way my lobbies have been. Oceania lobbies + SBMM leads to literal tournament level lobbies at prime sweat times, can't take it much longer.
The more nerds are rewarded for sitting on video games for 18 hours a day, the more games in general will become boring and obsolete. The fact people have the ability to sit and play all day, every day, will always ruin the experience for people who actually have lives.

The cheating in this game is insane, i play hardcore and the cheaters on there are so obvious and its weird because they has killcams for hardcore and then immediately took them out for no reason. The series as a whole is in a pathetic state and hasn't been good since 2019

My buddy was rank 50 gold II. I decided to play rank a bit with him during S5 and he brought up that the games were a lot harder whenever I joined him even though we were both gold. The only thing that made sense was SBMM within the division. Which is fine, but damn. That means someone’s gold lobbies aren’t the same as someone else’s gold lobbies.

Cheating is such a plague for every game. They’re so cheap, accessible, and the devs either have a hard time trying to keep up or straight up don’t bother with developing a strong anti-cheat. Yea sadly it doesn’t work that way. Unfortunately cross-play with pc made it extremely easy to mod modern games.
Back before, you had to use an rgh to first bypass Microsoft servers with custom code, and then also hacks to bypass game servers. Each console had its own unique ID that would be perm banned from ms. Game servers could only ban your account from their game itself, not your console. Anyways point is it was very hard to do, only nerds pulled it off. Modern hacks take no skill, and literally any 14yr old with $10 can go buy them on pc.

Apex legends ranked has become this very thing, the hidden MMR, gaining different amounts of RP depending on who you kill, silvers mixed with preds and masters. It’s not fun to play, I’ve become a hard stuck silver/gold player, while my bot friends (that I carry in pubs) are hitting plat in less games. I went against an ALGS pro (HISWattson) and his premade squad, first game out of my provisional matches while playing with another one of my friends who was also silver. Like that stuff should go based off of your rank instead of some hidden SBMM, it’s a terrible addition to ranked. I’ve also gotten into Overwatch 2 recently and the ranked system in that game is terrible as well, it’s so hard to rank up, rank changes after 5 wins or 15 losses, you could win 5 games straight and your rank won’t change. OW2 is having some kind of change to ranked next season so we’ll see how that goes

I was excited for ranked having never played it before. My first few games in bronze were easy and I’ve kept my kd & win/loss ratio above 1 and as soon as I hit silver 2 it became an absolute sweat fest against diamond platinum and gold people and when we beat them I still only get like 70sr… Several times I’ve won and got no sr and lost 100-300 sr in a single game…
Idk if I should’ve skipped season 1 ranked and gotten my stats up in multiplayer to get my hpr up so I get more sr in the lower divisions or what. I’ve consistently top fragged and had no increase in sr despite improving. This mode is a joke
Apex has a similar rank system with hidden mmr but it has placement matches the only catch is who they have you in the lobby with don’t matter for some reason. A bronze if really good enough can get matched up with a lobby full of 3 stacked apex predator squads. Mmr has been out of control recently
Let me preface this by saying i’m on PC and this is my first ever ranked COD. Didn’t play MW2. I quit the other games i was playing because i didn’t WANT to play competitive, but with SBMM in pub lobbies and my mates wanting me to run ranked with them, i figured what the hell.
1. So many cheaters, but they aren’t submitting. A couple feel like they’re soft lock ons, but majority are blatantly walling.
2. SBMM is stupid asf. I cruised through bronze and silver. Upon getting into gold all i’ve been playing is ex-crims/iridescents… all mid plat or diamond… Why? Since leaving silver i’ve barely dropped any massive games and I don’t have the stats, whether it be W/L or KD to warrant that?
3. Aim assist - I know roller players are constantly annoyed this is brought up but being destroyed by a rival 9 long range even when i’ve hit all my shots with an MCW purely because the other person is on controller is soooo frustrating.
I think they have a ton of potential with this, but they’re too lazy to ever do anything. Genuinely disappointing.
Been playing on console since infinite warfare, hax on PC became too widespread. Them adding cross-play ruined my interest in MW3.
I can't count how many times I've watched killcams track me through walls and prefire on warzone.
My MW3 Ranked experience mainly consists of me solo queuing while being silver II going against a squad of 4 platinum IIIs all in a party while my teammates are bronze IIIs at best. I give up

Matches for me was messed up today, I'm only on silver and rusty as hell, and I've been matched up against crimson and up, haven't played online since cod ghost
The real way it should work is you should START , EVERY SEASON, at your highest rank ever, but you have to maintain that rank for 3 or more games to get those rewards. You can't log in every season and only play one game and get all the iridescent stuff, and you can't start top 250 either everyone in top 250 starts iri. If you fall down a SR rank during those initial games you now get the rewards of that lower tier instead and that becomes your max or memory rank in future seasons, unless you move back up then you get your iridescent stuff etc.
This makes the game fair and has that hidden or memory MMR baked into it instead of using a changing MMR from the pub list. This means if you were a bronze shitter last season you won't have to worry about playing anyone with any kind of experience because all their memory ranks will keep them in higher brackets. The people that really will have to fight it out are people getting out of gold, and diamond to crimson as its supposed to be.
The reason why Activision Won't do this is all they care about is play time. While this would be more accurate and competitive and gets right to the point of who is actually the best every season, who climbed the farthest or improved each season it also takes you SUBSTANTIALLY less time to get the rewards you want because you're not grinding from the bottom WITH EVERYONE, crimsons, iris, diamonds Vs real silvers and bonze, especially when a new cod title gets its opening ranked play. This current method really once again sandbags players in the middle of the distribution and stops them from playing to improve early on, because early in the season you're going to be playing against people way above your skill level with more recent skill. Later in the season you might move up but you're playing opponents who aren't that good either because they too are dodging the good players. Then in the final seasons its All cheaters scrambling to replace the cosmetics they lost during banwaves. Now you're basically back to square one as these are people artificially way outside your skill ability. you can't improve to that level over the course of one season so a lot of people stop after the good players ranked up. this also messes with the quality of teammates you get in later seasons unless you luck out and get the hacker on your team and they willing to carry you.
Once again Activision is ruining a good ranked play experience because they are valuing engagement and the cosmetics treadmill over skill. This method would also take a lot of people out of ranked who just want to farm cosmetics. They would grind to iri one season and then they have 5 seasons to basically 3 three matches in their starting bracket win three in the next and fall down again next season, or there could be a prestige mechanic where you voluntarily give up your current memory rank to start at bronze, you grind to the rank you want rinse, repeat next season. This would minimize exposure of very good players to perpetual shitters that stay in bronze 5 seasons in a row. the group they obviously want to protect.
Again they won't do it because they covet forcing you to play the game longer than you want over actually giving you stuff you earned by putting multiple years into the game which is what skill displays.
I don't play cod that often but form time to time I do. I'm no legit veteran, sure I've played every single cod but its never been that serious to me.
But to the point... hopped on with a friend that isn't that good of a player and played cod with him for about 2 h, we were playing bots and slamming everyone then he had to dip.
Then I decided to solo Q.... wow terrible idea. Got qued up with people in diamond rank and people that has so many more hours than me who maybe plays twice a month. Then all games was super hard until my friend came back and then we started playing bots again.
I have no game sense whatsoever I'm just a good gunner that does so so good and that puts me in the highest elo. It actually no worth for me having cod downloaded if I'm forced playing the best players in the game and I'm just tryna play the game casually

CoD Mobile has the best ranked system I've ever seen. It treats you like an actual human.
- You performe good and win? Good, take a lot of points
- You lost a game, but your perfomance was good? It's okay, you'll lose less than you should
- Your enemies was too tough for you? Okay, let's compensate that a little bit with some additional points
- You're dominated on enemy team? Get a bonus points for that, champ!
- You're getting destroyed for three games in a row? Get a free bot lobby game, so you can regain a bit of points (yeah, it's controversial addition, but it's a mobile game after all)
I know, it's a MOBILE game and it's meant to be EASIER to play ranked. But I like the point that if you are above average player and you play enough games you can get the highest rank. If you are hardcore sweat player, you'll probably gonna be in the ranked leaderboard (or more likely play tournaments).

My big issue with ranked is the SR bugs that have fucked me. I should be at the top of diamond 3, but I had a few nights in a row where I’d win a game and lose 400 SR. Lost almost 2000 SR total in matches that I won.

First season is rough because everyone starts in bronze. So you’re likely playing people that are higher skill than their visible rank.
But matchmaking is rough because of that since your team may be a true silver.

I will be honest, I know multiple ppl who cheat in mw3 and they just get shadow banned for a few days IF AT ALL and then they come right back. Perma bans aint gonna happen unless you're using some free garbage bc everything else is undetected and even then they still dont wanna ban bc they want that $$$.
I have the same complaint on release I am playing Prolude (ex cod pro) in my literal second match. Can’t wait to see optic gaming for my iridescent game
i agree with everything you said, i would add that as a MnK player, I don't have years of xp on it to compete that well against Aim Assist (people are overclocking controllers on pc via github). Ranked play also has 2 viable guns to use which in turn everyone is copy pasta with MCWs.
It's bull when you already feel like your wasting time. Then someone jumps out the match for the game not to end. DRAW. OR MATCH NEVER STARTING. it's horrible. 😅 I get off the game every time.

I wonder if this is like R6 Siege new ranked system. Basically the rank is more like just an image or something that you can show and chase but in reality your MMR is in secret. It’s been a hated system but this makes sense because all major game titles seem to be switching to this style I think because it’s meant to protect unskilled players. It’s a terrible system but you should look into this system compared to R6 Siege’s new rank system cause what you’re explaining it sounds similar
Someone actually went in depth with how it works in dead by daylight cause they adopted this system like a year or two years ago.
T250 can only play with Crimson and up. The mode is broken due to the copy and pasting it into MW3. Thus, T250 are getting matched with anyone. This may be part of the critical issue they had that ordered the delay but released it anyway due to negative feedback.

If I don’t get to at least crim by s3-4 I’m going to give up on cod/ranked and stick on siege and if xdefiant and their ranked system is good I may just grind that out.
