Maya Ruins of Yaxchilán & Bonampak and the Lacandon Jungle, Chiapas, Mexico [Amazing Places 4K]

- Yaxchilán & Bonampak are two Maya archeological sites deep in the Lacandon Jungle in the state of Chiapas in Mexico. Yaxchilan (years 350-800) is located on the Usumacinta River, on the border between Mexico and Guatemala. Yaxchilan has a well-known history with at least 19 recorded kings. Bonampak (around 580-800) was a vassal state of Yaxchilan. It is famous for the pre-Columbian painted murals showing the story of the last king of Bonampak (years 790-792).

Hello,Good Morning,I'm Hector and I am from Costa Rica and I like Mexico,the Lacandon jungle is very beautiful and interesting and it is located in Chiapas,near to the border with Guatemala,when i start to investigate about the mayan people and i was interested in Mexico,in the history and the biodiversity,I saw images of Yucatan,Quintana Roo,etc.

Amazing place I've never heard of and need to make the trip someday. The sounds and smell of the jungle would make the voyage an added bonus. Hard to imagine all of labor of the rock/artwork that went into this place. 🇲🇽

A ruin that has been around for many years, hidden away in the deep jungle. The history left behind for posterity in the form of murals is clearly preserved, and everything we can see is a wonderful discovery. I'm sure there are still many wonderful ruins buried there that have yet to be discovered, and it would be sad if the earth ended without them being discovered. I want Mr. Milos to continue to dream wonderful dreams for us.
I was just in Yaxchilan, it is an amazing place. I only wish they would let you explore more. The two hours they give you is not enough to see everything

I made this trip last year & it is an absolute must! The drive out of Palenque takes you through Rural Mexico & the town of Frontal Corozal is interesting look into how people live in remote Mexico - I would go with a tour group, this area can be a bit sketchy & do not travel after dark if you drive yourself
