If I may suggest, you can buy very inexpensive packages of knee highs made from the same material as panty hose at any dollar store and when your melons begin to appear, or anything that you wish to grow off the ground, simply slide the fruit/veg into a knee high and then tie it to a fence post, trellis, stakes, whatever you have nearby the mother plant...no more having to go out and turn over the melons to avoid soft spots or discoloration, helps to protect against bugs, plus growing vertically saves on gardening space. I've also used pantyhose to support watermelons since they're larger than the knee highs. Hope this helps.

This is a great idea, but I would line the inside of the block; otherwise, the concrete block will leach out the moisture from the soil, requiring significantly more watering.

Ingenious way of gardening. I've been wanting to try cinder blocks - you've encouraged me to try a mini garden to see how well it works for me. I like the extra cedar planks and netting and laughed at your water feature:) - great garden tour!

Joy Louise .........Dear Friends of God......................Please research God's Time/Calendar in Genesis 1:14 before a False Sabbath law is enforced! Actions are in progress to honor a Sabbath day, “Green Sabbath”, “Laudato Si, par. 237”, etc.
Already today, there are Sunday laws written on government books.
The true Sabbath Is not Friday, Saturday, Sunday, etc. The true Sabbath is calculated by true time, Genesis 1:14.
The first week.....the new moon day, the six work days and the Sabbath day.
The second, third and fourth week........six work days and then Sabbath day.
Genesis 1:14 is a commandment from God. God commanded us to let the lights in heaven be for days, years, etc. We are to use the sun, moon and stars to calculate our days, years, signs, seasons, Sabbaths, etc., not the Gregorian calendar or any other man-made time.
The Sabbath commandment is one of the Ten commandments listed in Exodus 20 and It is just as important as the other nine commandments. It is to be kept!
God has three category of days in the Bible, the new moon day, the six work days and the Sabbath day.
God’s months start with the new moon day, which is the first day of the month. The Gregorian calendar do not start its months with the new moon day. The new moon day falls anywhere and everywhere on the Gregorian calendar.
Sometimes, on the famous Gregorian calendar, the new moon day falls on the “Gregorian Seventh day Saturday Sabbath.”
How can it both be the first day of the month and the seventh day Sabbath?
This along should help a person to see that the Gregorian calendar is not true time and that the Biblical Sabbath should not be calculated by it.
The Sabbath is a sign between God and His people Israel and whosoever join themselves to them. One law is to Israel and to the stranger. Exodus 12:48,49
Also, research the "Seven Noahide Laws" and Education Day U.S.A. Do the “Seven Noahide Laws”
From my research online, these laws are Jewish laws taken from their writings, namely the Talmud. The first law in “The seven Noahide laws" forbids the worship of idols.
According to Jewish writings, the worship of Jesus, Yahushua, etc........is idolatry and is punishable by death, decapitation.
Will these laws be enforced on all nations???
Research the connection between the United Nations, The Presidents, President Bush, President Trump, etc. and “The Seven Noahide laws"
THESE "SEVEN NOAHIDE LAWS". SEEMS TO BE VERY DANGEROUS TO CHRISTIANS AND TO ALL MANKIND!!
Lastly, there is much talk online that the Jewish people occupying the land of Israel today are not the true Israelites and that the true Israelites are today now scattered throughout the nations, is this true?
There are also other groups of people who say that they are the true Jews.
Jesus said in Revelation 2:9 & 3:9 that someone is saying that they are Jews but are not but are the synagogue of Satan.
If Jesus warns us about a synagogue of Satan in Revelation 2:9 & 3:9, should not we be concern?
If the people residing in the land of Israel not true Israel, then who are they and what is their agenda for the world?
Who are the true Bloodline Jews?
HAVE A GOOD DAY FRIENDS OF GOD..........GLORY TO THE FATHER AND SON!

Love it and I have a cinder block garden myself here in NZ, brilliant in the middle of the beds. But I've totally failed with any plantings in the holes in the blocks because of how fast they dry out (we're on tank water so watering becomes an issue over summer) I was having to water at least twice a day & couldn't keep it up. But yours looks fantastic :)

Although easy to install, Cinder Bloks can becomes very much hot under the sun day time and will need to provide much more water to plants and in winter it will be too cold and even early spring will be too cold, and what about the holes in it ... Ain't going to be easy to work with the soil in it, I rather prefer much the Wooden framed raised bed over the Cinder or cement blok

The cinder locks will not only get very hot, especially in the southern areas, they will wick water away from plant roots. If you’ll have drip irrigation it might not be an issue, if you’re watering by hand, plan on watering....a lot!

what you see here are concrete blocks...no coal cinders involved...if people would stop calling concrete blocks "cinder" blocks there would be so much less confusion...seriously...it's as if people insist on calling cats "dogs" because they have four feet, fur and a tail...That is all. *click*

Cinder block often contains fly ash. Growing edibles in cinder block is not wise due to the leaching out of fly ash which is then absorbed by the plants. In comparison, cedar or redwood is nontoxic and perfect for raised bed gardening.

    • @anthonyrock-the-universal-one
      @anthonyrock-the-universal-one 5 ปีที่แล้ว

If you plan to use block as a raised bed material - and many people do - and you are concerned about potential risks from fly ash-- you could seal the blocks with polymer paint. Or you can choose to use another material.
(Polymer paint is latex paint or acrylic paint.)
