As a grand admiral, i see my pledges as a investment into the hopes and dreams i have for this game. And to me, its not about the Game releasing, but the journey through development as a whole. With that said, every cent ive put into this game, ive put in it with zero expectations to anything, so if cig went bankrupt tomorrow, would not bother me emotionally one bit in regards to the "investment" ive made. but daydreaming about how it might end up to me and my ships, is priceless.
well if CIG went bankrupt tomorrow that would seriously harm me emotionally. i might even scream. but i agree ive loved following the development and watched 100s of hours of their SC videos and will always trump netfilx and amazon prime tv on a thursday night when SC live comes out
Currently Star Marshal ($5,000+) in. The rewards are cosmetic. I backed it under Rule 303 ("If you have the means to do it, you may do it") and I believe in the project. Star Citizen is the game I've been waiting for since I played Wing Commander I back in late 1990.
This kinda snuck up on me over the years. While I don't agree with everything CIG does, there's nothing like Star Citizen and the universe CIG is building. I sometimes log in without doing any mission or special activity, I just like being in that universe, traveling the stars in a shiny ship. Or a smoking trashcan, depending on how it was going. Thanks for this video, it kinda made me pause and think about why I'm still here. :) Now those faster ticket response times... erm, times have changed.
I'm a brand new player. Been playing the game for two weeks now. As someone that whales in Gacha games like Genshin (I've cut back substantially) the video game model of Star Citizen is far more rewarding than any gacha game imo. There is so much to do. The community is so ridiculously helpful (everyone wants everyone to enjoy and continue to play the game). There doesn't seem to be any kind of gate keeping whatsoever. I'm only $100 away from hitting Concierge, and I genuinely have no regrets. Even when a few of my friends and I hop on and make zero progress towards any of our in-game goals... there always seems to be a story to tell (usually comedic) after every session. This game is truly breathtaking, and I'm so glad I've finally given the game a chance.
I am 1 year in going into my 2nd IAE. I am Space Marshall with a plan to strategically finish my fleet through CCUs in order to reach Wing Commander in 5 years. Subscribing plus 1 CCU and Concept each IAE should do the trick. I love the game. I think it's a brilliant business model and here to support the project! I really want Wing Commander for the F8C and access to the VIP areas .
Im at the wing commander level, 10k.. I thought I would qualify for the chairmans club entry. Not so much. I though I would be cool to have meetings with my org there. However, the bar located on orison around the fire pit at night is pretty awsome. My reward is feeling as contributing to building of the game. I feel its something that has never been done. I love every ship I own. I feel it dosn't give me any extra advantages. I feel there is some resentment towards those who spend allot on the game. We really dont get many perks. We do not get discounts. We get to share the ships with our orgs and freinds. It helps promote development of the game to bring all of our dreams come true. The community is great. Some people buy harleys. I buy star citizen ships. They are art work to me.
I'll be becoming concierge this ILW and it's by far the most I've ever spent on a video game. I feel like supporting Star Citizen is supporting a fundamental change in the future of video games and that's worth $150/year since 2018.
As someone who has been with the game since January 2014, I've put well past enough to join the chairmen's club. I'm glad to whale to support the dream.
@@Farrister I know someone who spends a couple of thousand a month playing gacha games, so buying an Idris and Kraken wasn’t that a big deal for him… reckon he’s asked CIG if he can buy a station in Pyro. Oh I met CIG’s SVP marketing at a Bar Citizen, and he said that CR is totally against ‘gacha’ style, it’s illegal in the EU, but legal in other regions.
Happy to be able to do my part pushing the dream further. This games makes it easy to pay less mind. To how much some gamers may deride, or despise us for it.
As a member of the Chairman's Club, it was my choice to support the progress of Star Citizen to the level I have. It is _not_ - as Farrister pointed out - necessary to dump piles of your hard-earned money into the game. Players can have exceptionally fun experiences with the most basic of ship packages, or even by taking advantage of "free fly" events such as Invictus or IAE if they want to simply give Star Citizen a try. For me, the best perk of having a largish fleet of my own is that I can (and I am always willing to) loan one of my ships to a player for a test fly if it's one they're considering purchasing. By doing this, I can help them make an informed decision about the ship and whether it suits their playstyle enough to warrant spending their money - or even purchasing it with in-game credits. It's only a tiny thing I do for the community, but I'm happy to do it whenever I can.
Concierge members also get access to exclusive store items like concierge-only paints or ship packages. Idk is this still a thing but a few years ago some hull-limited ships such as 890J and Idris didn't even show up for you during the sales if you weren't concierge.
Well .. I just received my top hat, monocle, ‘Executive Arclight’ pistol and ‘Welcome to the Chairmans Club!’ Email after I pledged a Vulture in 3.19 simply so I could open up another game loop. Seriously, apart from seeing some of the clubs in game I didn’t even know this was a thing! Nice to be appreciated lol
I got into the game for US$45 with an on sale 100i starter package. If I remember correctly, I could have stated with an Aurora for US$40. that's relatively cheap for a AAA title

Having barely breached the 1k mark myself I have done so in the approach of paying retroactively based on my hours spendt in the game sofar. Once I went above 3000 hours I stopped counting and purposely hit the 1000 USD with a ship purchase that I intend to put into the gray market depending on which of my 2 ships is more suited for my dream of exploration! Give what you are comfortable with and never more than your lifestyle can afford. After all, it is only a game. However, backers and buyers are what fuel development and the future of the game, so I will always appreciate them.
Greetings Farrister. Great video, and I enjoyed watching it. Normally, I don't advertise my concierge status, as it's rare that I wear the top hat and monocle. Honestly, I don't even carry any of those fancy gold weapons for my status level. I have reached the Grand Admiral status, and I'm almost to the Space Marshall level. That gold armor is pretty, but why would I want to stand out wearing it. For me, I consider the money that I've pledged as kind of and investment into the future of the game and enjoyment for others. I like the ships that I have and who knows, I may increase my fleet in the future. Frankly, I can only fly one at a time, so only time will tell. I haven't gone into the Chairman's Club Lounge that is currently in game yet, but one of these days I'll check it out. I believe it's either in Lorville or Area 18. Take care my friend, fly safe, and I'll see you in the verse.
@@Farrister Frankly speaking, it was done over the years. My subscription also helps to build it up regularly. I bought my initial membership and starter package in 2016 and got the Imperator subscription. I gradually built up my ship and vehicle fleet to a point that got me over the Concierge line and I did a melt and Concierge pledge package that included several nice exploration ships. When new ships and vehicles come out, if I like them, I pledge for them. So for 6 years of doing this, my level just keeps going up, until now I am where I am. If you can access the Fleet site, you can see what I have. Honestly speaking a few of them I was given to me or I won in streamer giveaways. I was kind of lucky there for a little while. I always try to be humble when it comes to talking about what I have and how much I've spent, and when I go out into the verse, I don't flaunt it either by wearing the gold stuff, and the top hat and monocle. I think the only place I might do that would be inside the Chairman's Club away from the general population. There's a very wealthy man that actually exists, Warren Buffett, the 3rd richest man in the US. I know where he lives and have seen the car he drives. If you just came across him on the street, you would never know he was rich unless you recognized him. He lives a life in a regular house and drives an older Buick car. He doesn't have a big mansion and doesn't flaunt his wealth. That's the kind of man that I try to be in the game.
I’m now approaching Wing Commander, much to my wife’s dismay, which is possibly the first perk that seems useful in game. So far though just a bit of bling, but it’s a nice thank you. I spend to support the project rather than get perks though. It’s just a nice thanks. Also nice to not need a game package anymore. I look forward to seeing what the chairman clubs on lorville and orison turn out to be. I check them each patch, just in case haha.
@@Farrister yeah exactly! I was thinking, since they are in the spaceports, they might be like an airport lounge or something. Free drinks and food maybe? Maybe have posh ASOP screens and elevators to their own hangars. Though it’s probably just going to be a bar haha.
Great video, I enjoyed hearing about those various levels...whilst not near that level of investment, I'm happy with what I've spent, and I'm glad we get to play the development. I'm still waiting to see what my in-game reward will be for being a Golden Ticket holder!

I received notice that I've made 'High Admiral' status toady... apparently I've spent 1,000usd on SC over the past three-ish years. Believe it or not, I got no regrets. 😎 guess I'll wear that monocle & Top hat w/ pride!
The only big purchase I ever made was a Carrack. Other than that there's been a few smaller ships but most of what got me there was being a subscriber for like three years. It adds up.
There was a cutoff. Those of us that had squad 42 and made it to concierge before that now have it for free. Anyone that hits $1000 after the cutoff will still have to pay for 42.
Praetorian here. I back the game because it's fun, on going, has a future I can see, and I'm HORRIBLE with my money lol. Most importantly, because I can. I'm blessed with the ability to support a game because I worked my buns off to get to where I am. This is one of my rewards to myself. I can't say I'll hit Legatus Navium, but there's still the Jav, idris P and M, Kraken and Privateer, and a few more left to get. SOOOOO, it's more likely I will.
On the one hand it's absurd. Yet, on the other hand, I have been subscribed to FFXIV for roughly 7 years now. That's between $900 - $,1000 in subscription fees over that time, and add in a couple of purchases from the item mall and bingo. You're at 1K. As such, I think that a program like the Chairman's Club is actually a really cool idea to reward long-time subscribers or, in Star Citizen's case, long-time supporters. While some will debate the duration of its development, I think that just in general, I'd like more games to support long-time supporters in some fashion.
That's exactly how I got in! I haven't pledged that many ships and the only big one is a Carrack. Most of my money spent was on several years of subscription.
This is a project I will continue to support. Love this game alpha bits and all. This is the best community I've ever had the pleasure to be part of. My only thing would be some more long hair styles for female characters. Thanks for your videos!! Now time to get back out into the Black!!
The in game rewards are pretty shitty to be honest. The 5k armor is the first thing i throw out of my inventory after a new patch. The top hat i use from time to time when im just walking around the city. I wish they added a Concierge store where you can buy all the items because i don't want them to just be in my inventory. Give us the option to buy ships all year round or let us buy old concierge skins for ship like the perseus. No instead we get a bloody monocle and a bunch of golden combat gear...
Yeah, the concierge store kinda sucks. I'm not trying to drop $3500 for a ton of ships I don't even want, but I'd absolutely go ham buying a bunch of paints if all the paints they released got pushed permanently to the concierge store!
I like being called a whale because of money and not because of being fat (altough my tummy was very expensive, too ). I like the different special offers I get from the chairmans club. It is crazy that I spent enough th become a Space Marshal, the golden suit isn't even that cool. This game is a dream come true, it looks great and the team has a dedication to it's craft that is admirable. I am not rich but I make enough AND have an inexpensive life: house is my own so I don't pay rent, car is cheap to maintain and insure, Don't have family, don't smoke, don't drink regularly.... so I have a monthly budget to burn. My life would be no different, hand't I spent the money on star citizen. I never felt the obligation to spend it here but I choose to. Also I don't have the time to grind the money for the next big ship: I have other hobbies. I'm just happy that the money goes to a place that loves the game as much as I do. Also, when will they finally open those lounges to keep the lowly plebs out? I hate their grubby fingers on my golden stuff.... XD EDIT: Still by far my best purchase: the real life Finley Space Whale plushie for my Goddaughter. She had a bad dream once but it's ok: finley was there :) makes me tear up just writing about it.

@@FrazzleCat She is able to lift many spirits. and she wants to. Her grandmother died and we all were worrying how she would handle death at 5 years old. She said she doesn't mind, and if somebody is sad, she would comfort and cheer them up. And she did. hope to lift the mental image a bit more with that story.
Something like $400 in, and that's quite enough for me. I spent that in full knowledge it was a bet, and long odds at that - I won't miss that much if the games never happen more than already extant, but I would if I kept spending.
@@Farrister When I made up my mind to buy in, sure it was. Even now that it's a much better bet, and the project has hundreds of workers and a lot more content under its belt, it still has an uncomfortably large possibility of not making it - either just fizzling out (probably due to players leaving after another misstep), CiG going bust (Chris has said he intends to spend ALL of the players' money on making it better), or just not getting finished before I die.
Its sad that CIG only finished the Million Mile High Club for Backers that pledged 10+ or invited 1042 people into the game. So far no Concierge Bar or Club is available for us to enjoy.
Been in SC since Oct 2012, one of the rare Golden ticket holders. Over the years my pledge level has steadily creeped up to the point where I now have 2 x F8 Lightnings on the account. I will admit that the concierge customer service has declined steadily over the years from the start where you could literally get an answer return of email. My quickest reply by Chelsea was a mere 2 minutes from sending the email, to the current times of almost a month to get a reply. Also in the early days of concierge, the CIG team bent over backwards to try and accommodate your requests where as now it’s pretty much a straight NO regardless of what you ask for. So realistically concierge isn’t worth anything anymore. There’s a few nice ships and extra weapons, although you’ll find that most don’t wear the golden armour or use the golden weapons as it makes us stand out too much. I am looking forward to getting access to the in game clubs, and we did used to get early access to the citizencons but that’s all ended as well. We do get different ship and game packages to purchase as well as a few physical items that state chairman’s club. Plus of course our own forum. I don’t regret one moment pledging the amount I have but over the amount of years I’ve been doing it, it doesn’t work out too badly.
I think Chelsea was very well thought of across the concierge backer base. And Ben Lesnick's partner that I can't quite remember the name of (was it Alexa, or something along those lines?)
Not only do the golden items make us stand out - we lose them if we die and have to character reset or wait for a wipe to get them back. They're wall hangers for habs we don't have yet, nothing more. I do wear my monocle all the time though ;)
You don't need to spend $1000 dollars to get into the chairmans club. You just need around 10 medical gowns to stack up and glitch through the door. You can get in with just buying an Aurora package. I'm sure they don't want you to glitch in there but you can do it. However it's kind of silly as there is nothing to do in there. If they had some high paying NPC jobs in there for the people that legitimately paid money to get in there that would be something. In fact I would recommend CIG gives some high paying jobs in there for the people that cashed out their bitcoin to buy some of this stuff. When passenger travel comes in maybe they'll have some high ranking NPC's that need luxury travel for big bucks, or clandestine UEE missions for those high tier ship owners. Or maybe a dirty smuggling deal or spy information for the UEE that pays big bucks. If some A-hole like me can glitch in there and only own a Titan it's a bit of a let down. Imagine you paid big dollars for the ships in the game and wanted to check out the VIP area only to find some A-hole in a medical gown teabagging the NPC bar tender you'd probably feel a little disappointed. Give them SOMETHING. A few choice missions for VIP members isn't going to break the game.
@@Farrister Maybe. I only glitched in there once just to check it out, looked at the place and since nothing of interest was happening I just left. There are a whole bunch of TH-cam videos out there on how to glitch in so maybe they fixed it. I did it months ago in the summer.
Yes I joined the verse with my starter Mustang but feel in love with space truck Nomad had to upgrade game pack during sale and the Banu MM is more of an investment right? CCU my way to great deals right? Another upgrade to Vulture wanna fly a scraper with a craper when I grow up. And more CCU chains Tali, Apollo, Redeemer OH MY! How the hell did I get into the club? One crazy dream at a time 😞
Farrister, your videos are alway refreshing and interesting. Isn't there also a set of discounts or special ship purchases available to concierge members?
There are some exclusive packs available, yeah. They range from paints that have been taken off the regular pledge store, to paints only available to concierge members, all the way up to a $3,500 pack that has a bunch of ships, some of which are not normally available for purchase by the general public outside of special events and sales. I've never done the math to see if it's actually discounted from what you'd spend to buy each individually though. Nothing in the concierge store has ever appealed to me personally, but there is some stuff in there that isn't available to just anyone.
I only started playing Star Citizen in January 2023 and I already have the Concierge status, I also played Star Citizen for more than 1000 hours so I see it this way that I paid 1 dollar for every hour of fun that I've had playing this game and it's only going to be cheaper from now on as I keep playing the game, I just want to support the development of the game which is why I bought so much from pledge and I don't really care about the extra's that I'm getting from doing that, yeah it's nice to have some privileges when I write to support but the things that I got in game is only the hat and monocle, cool but there's absolute no real use for it other than making you a target for pirates when they see you're a big spender by wearing it in game. Ow yes I almost forgot that I also got the golden Arclight gun with this perk.
I don't regret spending $1000 because it's been a slow investment over time. Plus investing in the dream is awesome and feels worthwhile. Something that annoys me however is that Centurion or Imperator subscribers get armor weapons etc... but spending $1000 (equivalent to 100mo of subscriptions) doesn't buy us a thing.
You do get weapons and not armor but clothes and some other (currently useless) display items for hitting $1000. I think the thing you're annoyed about is that it's a one-time thing instead of getting each month's subscriber items by default?
Well, I started in the last IAE . with a mustang as I saved $5 then found it was crap upgraded it to the titan . I set out not to get much . I set out not to get any ships in Concept . it started with the Prospector ( so I had a ship to mine after a wipe ) then the Sabre ( just loved the look and wanted a ship for bounties ) I was quite happy saved up 5mill for a MSR in game and was proud of it. but then and some how I ended up with concepts and a Space Marshal rank LOL that F8 Lightning is just teasing me LOL NOPE not doing it PC upgrade first LOL
Do I have to be the first to admit to being Legatus? Alright fine. It's really doesn't have nearly as much to do with owning jpg ships as you'd think. It's more that I buy silly shit to support a game I actually want, instead of disposable cookie cutter stuff. It's not just the scale of the game, but the depth. I do have a crazy mess for a hanger, but want to know what ships I fly the most? Cutlass Black, 100i, and Connies. 🤷♂
I have such status. In all honesty, I regret it. I wish I had stayed with my Avenger Titan starter package and left it at that. I don't really even play SC anymore due to the bugs and crashes on top of the lack of the content that was supposed to be released years ago. I own ships with very little in-game purpose such as the MSR. Years later this data running ship still doesn't have data to run because the introduced gameplay still hasn't been added to the game. Avenger Stalker holding cells aren't a game feature yet either. My exploration ships have very little to explore. As far as feeling good about my decision to support the project, that is a feeling that has left me. If you're going to spend serious money on this game I would make a few points. Number one, recognize that it really isn't a game as you know the term. Most things are broken or unfinished. Secondly, evaluate CIG's track record and spend a good 3 months in SC before deciding whether or not they are a company worth investing in. If you're willing to wait years to see the things that you're excited and hoping will be in the game someday, by all means. But also recognize that the money that you think you're investing into Star Citizen is actually going towards their other projects as well. The most prominent one being Squadron 42. They have publicly delcared that this game is their priority and will continue to be until it is released. Said release was proposed to be in 2 years. However, it was projected to be released years ago already. Case and point, make an informed decision. Don't get excited while first experiencing the game and open your wallet.
Rule 1, on page 1 of the Book of Being a Salesman is: get the customer excited about what you want them to purchase so they make an emotional decision instead of a rational one!
I think Grand Admiral and Space Marshal deserve a rare ship. Not sure to what degree of a ship though. Something like a slightly beefed 325a. Fancier interior.
@@Farrister There is was a Chairman's Club in Area 18, and Lorivile. You can not go into the doors anymore. You use to be able to like back on 3.17 I think.
They have taken so much away from the game that people don't even know. You use to be able to buy cups of Coffee from the vendors. You use to be able to drop package with the NPCs at desks you use to be able to get sub gear out of loot boxes are wrecked ships.

I think you will do - the lounges aren't available in game yet. Fire pit is a great festive gathering spot though!

As a member of the Chairman's Club, it was my choice to support the progress of Star Citizen to the level I have. It is _not_ - as Farrister pointed out - necessary to dump piles of your hard-earned money into the game. Players can have exceptionally fun experiences with the most basic of ship packages, or even by taking advantage of "free fly" events such as Invictus or IAE if they want to simply give Star Citizen a try.
For me, the best perk of having a largish fleet of my own is that I can (and I am always willing to) loan one of my ships to a player for a test fly if it's one they're considering purchasing. By doing this, I can help them make an informed decision about the ship and whether it suits their playstyle enough to warrant spending their money - or even purchasing it with in-game credits. It's only a tiny thing I do for the community, but I'm happy to do it whenever I can.

Concierge members also get access to exclusive store items like concierge-only paints or ship packages. Idk is this still a thing but a few years ago some hull-limited ships such as 890J and Idris didn't even show up for you during the sales if you weren't concierge.
Don't think it's still a thing, but there are packages that only apear to concierge, but those start at 1k...

Well .. I just received my top hat, monocle, ‘Executive Arclight’ pistol and ‘Welcome to the Chairmans Club!’ Email after I pledged a Vulture in 3.19 simply so I could open up another game loop. Seriously, apart from seeing some of the clubs in game I didn’t even know this was a thing! Nice to be appreciated lol

Having barely breached the 1k mark myself I have done so in the approach of paying retroactively based on my hours spendt in the game sofar. Once I went above 3000 hours I stopped counting and purposely hit the 1000 USD with a ship purchase that I intend to put into the gray market depending on which of my 2 ships is more suited for my dream of exploration!

Give what you are comfortable with and never more than your lifestyle can afford. After all, it is only a game. However, backers and buyers are what fuel development and the future of the game, so I will always appreciate them.

Greetings Farrister. Great video, and I enjoyed watching it. Normally, I don't advertise my concierge status, as it's rare that I wear the top hat and monocle. Honestly, I don't even carry any of those fancy gold weapons for my status level. I have reached the Grand Admiral status, and I'm almost to the Space Marshall level. That gold armor is pretty, but why would I want to stand out wearing it. For me, I consider the money that I've pledged as kind of and investment into the future of the game and enjoyment for others. I like the ships that I have and who knows, I may increase my fleet in the future. Frankly, I can only fly one at a time, so only time will tell. I haven't gone into the Chairman's Club Lounge that is currently in game yet, but one of these days I'll check it out. I believe it's either in Lorville or Area 18. Take care my friend, fly safe, and I'll see you in the verse.

@@Farrister Frankly speaking, it was done over the years. My subscription also helps to build it up regularly. I bought my initial membership and starter package in 2016 and got the Imperator subscription. I gradually built up my ship and vehicle fleet to a point that got me over the Concierge line and I did a melt and Concierge pledge package that included several nice exploration ships. When new ships and vehicles come out, if I like them, I pledge for them. So for 6 years of doing this, my level just keeps going up, until now I am where I am. If you can access the Fleet site, you can see what I have. Honestly speaking a few of them I was given to me or I won in streamer giveaways. I was kind of lucky there for a little while. I always try to be humble when it comes to talking about what I have and how much I've spent, and when I go out into the verse, I don't flaunt it either by wearing the gold stuff, and the top hat and monocle. I think the only place I might do that would be inside the Chairman's Club away from the general population. There's a very wealthy man that actually exists, Warren Buffett, the 3rd richest man in the US. I know where he lives and have seen the car he drives. If you just came across him on the street, you would never know he was rich unless you recognized him. He lives a life in a regular house and drives an older Buick car. He doesn't have a big mansion and doesn't flaunt his wealth. That's the kind of man that I try to be in the game.
I reckon the gold trim on the Executive Edition 600i is a bit too - shiny - for my liking, much prefer the Best in Show livery.

I’m now approaching Wing Commander, much to my wife’s dismay, which is possibly the first perk that seems useful in game. So far though just a bit of bling, but it’s a nice thank you. I spend to support the project rather than get perks though. It’s just a nice thanks. Also nice to not need a game package anymore. I look forward to seeing what the chairman clubs on lorville and orison turn out to be. I check them each patch, just in case haha.

Great video, I enjoyed hearing about those various levels...whilst not near that level of investment, I'm happy with what I've spent, and I'm glad we get to play the development. I'm still waiting to see what my in-game reward will be for being a Golden Ticket holder!

The only big purchase I ever made was a Carrack. Other than that there's been a few smaller ships but most of what got me there was being a subscriber for like three years. It adds up.
Yeah I'm Wing Commander and my 1st purchase was the Carrack Expedition Package as I used the Carrack to learn how to fly.

There was a cutoff. Those of us that had squad 42 and made it to concierge before that now have it for free. Anyone that hits $1000 after the cutoff will still have to pay for 42.

Praetorian here. I back the game because it's fun, on going, has a future I can see, and I'm HORRIBLE with my money lol. Most importantly, because I can. I'm blessed with the ability to support a game because I worked my buns off to get to where I am. This is one of my rewards to myself. I can't say I'll hit Legatus Navium, but there's still the Jav, idris P and M, Kraken and Privateer, and a few more left to get. SOOOOO, it's more likely I will.
Don't forgot the exclusive paints and special packages we can order that others don't see.

On the one hand it's absurd. Yet, on the other hand, I have been subscribed to FFXIV for roughly 7 years now. That's between $900 - $,1000 in subscription fees over that time, and add in a couple of purchases from the item mall and bingo. You're at 1K. As such, I think that a program like the Chairman's Club is actually a really cool idea to reward long-time subscribers or, in Star Citizen's case, long-time supporters. While some will debate the duration of its development, I think that just in general, I'd like more games to support long-time supporters in some fashion.
It's a good point about sub time - especially for those who have been playing for 10 years now!
That's exactly how I got in! I haven't pledged that many ships and the only big one is a Carrack. Most of my money spent was on several years of subscription.
This is a project I will continue to support. Love this game alpha bits and all. This is the best community I've ever had the pleasure to be part of. My only thing would be some more long hair styles for female characters. Thanks for your videos!! Now time to get back out into the Black!!

The in game rewards are pretty shitty to be honest. The 5k armor is the first thing i throw out of my inventory after a new patch. The top hat i use from time to time when im just walking around the city. I wish they added a Concierge store where you can buy all the items because i don't want them to just be in my inventory. Give us the option to buy ships all year round or let us buy old concierge skins for ship like the perseus. No instead we get a bloody monocle and a bunch of golden combat gear...

Yeah, the concierge store kinda sucks. I'm not trying to drop $3500 for a ton of ships I don't even want, but I'd absolutely go ham buying a bunch of paints if all the paints they released got pushed permanently to the concierge store!

I like being called a whale because of money and not because of being fat (altough my tummy was very expensive, too ). I like the different special offers I get from the chairmans club. It is crazy that I spent enough th become a Space Marshal, the golden suit isn't even that cool. This game is a dream come true, it looks great and the team has a dedication to it's craft that is admirable. I am not rich but I make enough AND have an inexpensive life: house is my own so I don't pay rent, car is cheap to maintain and insure, Don't have family, don't smoke, don't drink regularly.... so I have a monthly budget to burn. My life would be no different, hand't I spent the money on star citizen. I never felt the obligation to spend it here but I choose to. Also I don't have the time to grind the money for the next big ship: I have other hobbies.
I'm just happy that the money goes to a place that loves the game as much as I do.
Also, when will they finally open those lounges to keep the lowly plebs out? I hate their grubby fingers on my golden stuff.... XD

@@FrazzleCat She is able to lift many spirits. and she wants to. Her grandmother died and we all were worrying how she would handle death at 5 years old. She said she doesn't mind, and if somebody is sad, she would comfort and cheer them up. And she did.

Something like $400 in, and that's quite enough for me. I spent that in full knowledge it was a bet, and long odds at that - I won't miss that much if the games never happen more than already extant, but I would if I kept spending.

Even now that it's a much better bet, and the project has hundreds of workers and a lot more content under its belt, it still has an uncomfortably large possibility of not making it - either just fizzling out (probably due to players leaving after another misstep), CiG going bust (Chris has said he intends to spend ALL of the players' money on making it better), or just not getting finished before I die.
Its sad that CIG only finished the Million Mile High Club for Backers that pledged 10+ or invited 1042 people into the game. So far no Concierge Bar or Club is available for us to enjoy.
I'd love to look around that place though lol
Been in SC since Oct 2012, one of the rare Golden ticket holders. Over the years my pledge level has steadily creeped up to the point where I now have 2 x F8 Lightnings on the account. I will admit that the concierge customer service has declined steadily over the years from the start where you could literally get an answer return of email. My quickest reply by Chelsea was a mere 2 minutes from sending the email, to the current times of almost a month to get a reply. Also in the early days of concierge, the CIG team bent over backwards to try and accommodate your requests where as now it’s pretty much a straight NO regardless of what you ask for. So realistically concierge isn’t worth anything anymore.
There’s a few nice ships and extra weapons, although you’ll find that most don’t wear the golden armour or use the golden weapons as it makes us stand out too much.
I am looking forward to getting access to the in game clubs, and we did used to get early access to the citizencons but that’s all ended as well. We do get different ship and game packages to purchase as well as a few physical items that state chairman’s club. Plus of course our own forum.
I don’t regret one moment pledging the amount I have but over the amount of years I’ve been doing it, it doesn’t work out too badly.
I think Chelsea was very well thought of across the concierge backer base. And Ben Lesnick's partner that I can't quite remember the name of (was it Alexa, or something along those lines?)
Not only do the golden items make us stand out - we lose them if we die and have to character reset or wait for a wipe to get them back. They're wall hangers for habs we don't have yet, nothing more. I do wear my monocle all the time though ;)

You don't need to spend $1000 dollars to get into the chairmans club. You just need around 10 medical gowns to stack up and glitch through the door. You can get in with just buying an Aurora package. I'm sure they don't want you to glitch in there but you can do it. However it's kind of silly as there is nothing to do in there. If they had some high paying NPC jobs in there for the people that legitimately paid money to get in there that would be something. In fact I would recommend CIG gives some high paying jobs in there for the people that cashed out their bitcoin to buy some of this stuff. When passenger travel comes in maybe they'll have some high ranking NPC's that need luxury travel for big bucks, or clandestine UEE missions for those high tier ship owners. Or maybe a dirty smuggling deal or spy information for the UEE that pays big bucks. If some A-hole like me can glitch in there and only own a Titan it's a bit of a let down. Imagine you paid big dollars for the ships in the game and wanted to check out the VIP area only to find some A-hole in a medical gown teabagging the NPC bar tender you'd probably feel a little disappointed. Give them SOMETHING. A few choice missions for VIP members isn't going to break the game.

@@Farrister Maybe. I only glitched in there once just to check it out, looked at the place and since nothing of interest was happening I just left. There are a whole bunch of TH-cam videos out there on how to glitch in so maybe they fixed it. I did it months ago in the summer.
Yes I joined the verse with my starter Mustang but feel in love with space truck Nomad had to upgrade game pack during sale and the Banu MM is more of an investment right? CCU my way to great deals right? Another upgrade to Vulture wanna fly a scraper with a craper when I grow up. And more CCU chains Tali, Apollo, Redeemer OH MY! How the hell did I get into the club? One crazy dream at a time 😞

There are some exclusive packs available, yeah. They range from paints that have been taken off the regular pledge store, to paints only available to concierge members, all the way up to a $3,500 pack that has a bunch of ships, some of which are not normally available for purchase by the general public outside of special events and sales. I've never done the math to see if it's actually discounted from what you'd spend to buy each individually though.
Nothing in the concierge store has ever appealed to me personally, but there is some stuff in there that isn't available to just anyone.
I pay Jared a monthly subscription fee for ISC and SCL episodes ;)

I only started playing Star Citizen in January 2023 and I already have the Concierge status, I also played Star Citizen for more than 1000 hours so I see it this way that I paid 1 dollar for every hour of fun that I've had playing this game and it's only going to be cheaper from now on as I keep playing the game, I just want to support the development of the game which is why I bought so much from pledge and I don't really care about the extra's that I'm getting from doing that, yeah it's nice to have some privileges when I write to support but the things that I got in game is only the hat and monocle, cool but there's absolute no real use for it other than making you a target for pirates when they see you're a big spender by wearing it in game.
Ow yes I almost forgot that I also got the golden Arclight gun with this perk.
I don't regret spending $1000 because it's been a slow investment over time. Plus investing in the dream is awesome and feels worthwhile. Something that annoys me however is that Centurion or Imperator subscribers get armor weapons etc... but spending $1000 (equivalent to 100mo of subscriptions) doesn't buy us a thing.

You do get weapons and not armor but clothes and some other (currently useless) display items for hitting $1000. I think the thing you're annoyed about is that it's a one-time thing instead of getting each month's subscriber items by default?
Well, I started in the last IAE . with a mustang as I saved $5 then found it was crap upgraded it to the titan . I set out not to get much . I set out not to get any ships in Concept .
it started with the Prospector ( so I had a ship to mine after a wipe ) then the Sabre ( just loved the look and wanted a ship for bounties ) I was quite happy saved up 5mill for a MSR in game and was proud of it. but then and some how I ended up with concepts and a Space Marshal rank LOL that F8 Lightning is just teasing me LOL NOPE not doing it PC upgrade first LOL

Do I have to be the first to admit to being Legatus? Alright fine. It's really doesn't have nearly as much to do with owning jpg ships as you'd think. It's more that I buy silly shit to support a game I actually want, instead of disposable cookie cutter stuff. It's not just the scale of the game, but the depth. I do have a crazy mess for a hanger, but want to know what ships I fly the most? Cutlass Black, 100i, and Connies. 🤷♂

I have such status. In all honesty, I regret it. I wish I had stayed with my Avenger Titan starter package and left it at that. I don't really even play SC anymore due to the bugs and crashes on top of the lack of the content that was supposed to be released years ago. I own ships with very little in-game purpose such as the MSR. Years later this data running ship still doesn't have data to run because the introduced gameplay still hasn't been added to the game. Avenger Stalker holding cells aren't a game feature yet either. My exploration ships have very little to explore.
As far as feeling good about my decision to support the project, that is a feeling that has left me. If you're going to spend serious money on this game I would make a few points. Number one, recognize that it really isn't a game as you know the term. Most things are broken or unfinished. Secondly, evaluate CIG's track record and spend a good 3 months in SC before deciding whether or not they are a company worth investing in.
If you're willing to wait years to see the things that you're excited and hoping will be in the game someday, by all means. But also recognize that the money that you think you're investing into Star Citizen is actually going towards their other projects as well. The most prominent one being Squadron 42. They have publicly delcared that this game is their priority and will continue to be until it is released. Said release was proposed to be in 2 years. However, it was projected to be released years ago already.
Case and point, make an informed decision. Don't get excited while first experiencing the game and open your wallet.
Rule 1, on page 1 of the Book of Being a Salesman is: get the customer excited about what you want them to purchase so they make an emotional decision instead of a rational one!
As a Space Marshal I am disappointed in myself for wasting so much money.
I think Grand Admiral and Space Marshal deserve a rare ship. Not sure to what degree of a ship though. Something like a slightly beefed 325a. Fancier interior.

They have taken so much away from the game that people don't even know. You use to be able to buy cups of Coffee from the vendors. You use to be able to drop package with the NPCs at desks you use to be able to get sub gear out of loot boxes are wrecked ships.
As a $1000 backer I'm grateful I can actually afford this stuff lol.
